HARD13858

A gamer from Gloucester, England says (28/Dec/2002):
This is a game wth massive imagination. Monkeys in balls! Weird! The multiplayer games are amazing especially Monker Fight and Monkey Racing. I think the main game is a bit too hard though. Solution = Monkey Ball 2.

A GameCube game that u must have!9456

Eminem from London, England says (4/Sep/2002):
This is one of Segas' best yet apart from the Sonic genre. There is enough to do in this game to keep u glued to your GC and TV for days. Its hours of fun and has great multiplayer modes! From racing to fighting and from billiards to golf!! The gameplay is simple but something new as you control the Board the monkey rolls on! U must buy and tey!!

Sega Does it Again8837

Jon Gibbons from Philly, PA says (3/Aug/2002):
Ever since Sega decided to get out of the console market and devote all of their attention to games, they have been wowing me. This game is awesome. I bought it on launch day and have been playing it ever since. he single player mode is challenging enough to make you feel like you really got a worthwhile experience from beating it. But the real fun, and where the main replay value lies, is with the party games. 6 of them in all, they are fun, easy to pick up and play, and endlessly entertaining. The games are more imaginative and skillful than Mario Party mini games, and are an absolute joy to play with 4 people. The controls are a little tricky at first for the main game, but with a little patience become second nature and very easy. Some of the levels can be very frustrating, but all it takes is time and you will soon be an expert monkey baller. Plus, it's entertaining to say to your friends "let's play some monkey ball." This is still one of the best games for the GC, and I can't wait for Monkey 2.

Greater than the sum of its parts8518

Cookie from Leicester, England says (18/Jul/2002):
A number of reviews on this site have said that the controls are too difficult and that there is not enough in the game to sustain your interest over a prolonged period of time. Both statements are utter rubbish. First of all the controls are perfect. Most games can be completed using the stick alone which is a stroke of genius in an age where developers try and make the most complicated control system going. The stick is always accurate and if a mistake is made it is due to your ability rather than the software. The main game has so many floors (more than is initially on offer, but you have to be good to see the hidden ones) that it will maintain your interest for a number of weeks. Where most of the replay value will be found is in the number of mini games. This is the best multiplayer game since Goldeneye on the N64, with target, bowling and golf being the three best. All these games can be played to a relatively high standard with little practice, but in order to excel at them a substantial amount of time must be taken up. So even if the games seem simple to start with there is great hidden strategy and depth to all the mini games.
On the whole a fantastic game by Sega in which the sequal looks even better.

EXTREMELY EASY8038

A gamer from Akron, OH says (24/Jun/2002):
Did you read review #2? O.K, first of all, maybe the guy who sent in review #2 was drunk, because it is the second greatest game on the Gamecube, and it is EXTREMELY EASY. I got the game and I passed it in about 1 WEEK. That's right the whole thing. (Except for getting to master mode, and getting to the extra levels on Advanced and Expert.} And, it's not $50, it's $30. I simply love the game! I think that the graphics are great! I didn't really get to hear most of the music because my mom usually has to go to sleep early because she has to get up at 5:00 to go to work, and I didn't want to wake her up. I have to admit though that there is one hard level. It's easy to beat when you have infinite continues, though which you DO NOT have to cheat to get. I think the party games are extremely fun, too. Especially Monkey Target. The designers of the game were very creative with this game. I recommend that you get this game. I think the game is worth every penny. Oh, and Review #2, don't take any of what I said personally, I just got a little mad.

SUPER MONKEY LICK MY BALLS!8046

Cassius from Mongolia, Afghanistan says (24/Jun/2002):
This game is a winner. Aahhhhh The concept is great and refreshing like a cold rectal shower. The conjunction of features are enough to keep you busy for months. This water filled base of a game has great sound and graphics to compliment its chunky candy bar like monkeys. Multiplayer, while doesnt have much variety, is still a melding good time. My favorite mini game would have to be monkey billiards, it itself is worth the price of admission to an old kung fu movie. My friend Schrauben-An-Den loved to play the monkey target mini game till he was old and grey. ALL IN all this was a solid game with lots of levels and very fun mini games with a suiting yoyoma type soundtrack.

Challenging single player, Awesome Multiplayer8051

Matt from Sacramento, CA says (24/Jun/2002):
To start things off, my first opinion of this game that it was very hard and not very fun. Once I got the controls down the game was a blast. This game reminds me of a next gen Marble Madness. After beating the game I had opened up all of the mini games and that is where the real fun starts. My friends and I have spent many sleepless nights duking it out in Monkey Fight, Monkey Race, Monkey Bowling, and the best Monkey Target. Just the Mini games alone is worth the purchase. I scored the game an 8 out of 10 because the graphics could have been better, the last levels are darn near impoossible (But practice makes perfect.) Monkey Ball gets a high replay value due to the quality of the mini games. If you want a good challenging game that offers good rewards for completing it buy Super Monkey Ball and you will not be dissappointed.

Buy it already will ya7211

A gamer from LaX, WI, USA says (5/May/2002):
I find it hard to belive that it took the above guy a week to learn how to use the control stick on the controller... because the only thing you need to play Monkey Ball.
It's a sweet game, the graphics are OK, but the gameplay ROCKS!! Sure it's hard, but that's the point of a game.. to be hard.. if games were easy I would have stopped playing them a long time ago. The music is perfect for the game and if you can make it to the last 10 levels of expert the music rocks too.

Don't waste your time6157

Patrick McCoy from Emporia, Kansas, USA says (5/Mar/2002):
This game is a very good multi-player game. The monkey fight, which involves beating other monkeys up with big boxing gloves is fun. The Monkey billiards is the best thing in the game as far as I am concerned. The main game is way to hard and 99% of the tracks are well....to say the least IMPOSSIBLE. Don't waste money on this. Go rent it for you and your drunk friends and thank me later.

Excellent Game!6157

Kyle from Ontario, Canada says (2/Mar/2002):
Super Monkey Ball is a great 1-4 player game. It ranges from 1-130 floors. This game is sort of hard when you just start but when you get the hand of it it is really fun. Out of all of the levels, my favourite level is floor 50 on expert mode, and it's really easy. If you like a great and challenging adventure game Super Monkey Ball is the game for you!!

Monkey and Balls?6063

UKGamecube from London says (1/Mar/2002):
This has to be the wackiest game for the Gamecube but that dont mean that the gameplay is wacky. Although single player may not be too fun, this game really kicks off when you get 3 of ya mates round for some monkey racing, punchin, bowling and more. These mini games have to be the highlight. Single player may be broing but soon you might get hooked and start yelling good old abuse at those monkeys! This is one for the collection a must have for multiplay but as for sungle, well it will keep u quite.

GREAT GAME!!!5872

Gamecube Fanatic says (19/Feb/2002):
Super Monkey Ball is the best gamecube game i have played so far. It has different skill levels and gets REALLY hard as you go along. There are also 3 mini games, and 3 party games that you can play along with the normal mode. If you have not yet tried this game i suggest you do i bought it the day after i played it because i loved it so much. And if you like games with lots of monkeys this is the game for you.!?!?!

Kind of stupid5883

Jordin from Orlando, FL says (19/Feb/2002):
The first time I played this I thought it was great, but after I bought it I was sorry. It is way to hard! The graphics are okay but the sound is just awful. The gameplay is alright but it took me a whole week to get the hang of the controls. Every now and then the game sort of messes up, which, if you're trying beat an especially hard track, is very annoying because you usually have to restart the whole game. I would have to say it was a waste of fifty bucks. But, you never know whether you'll like it or not, so don't take this for your own opinion. Overall, I would say its not a bad game for kids, but if your'e 10 or older I don't think you'll be satisfed with this game.
