It has great graphic, great sounds taken from all classic nintendo games, its gameplay is great. you get to go out and take a bat to nintendo characters you have always hated. Its Lifespan is massive. To unlock everything you must complete it on every mode and with every character. There are 290 trophies for you to collect. I am a master at this game yet i still have only a mere 277 trophies. Its fun-factor is large aswell. You go around beating little yellow mice up with all sorts of weapons and get points for doing it. What can be more fun then that. You really cant call it an original as they tried it before but this time they have done so much to improve it and all the things they have done are original so it has a lot of originality in it. Its value is great. It has been put into the players choice for £20 and that is great value because that £20 will leave you with months of fun.
In conclusion this game is on of the most brilliant games to be realeased and if you dont have it in you collection how can you call yourself a proper gamer. Thanks for Reading this review
| This game is way cooool! ^_^! | | Jordan from Presque Isle, ME says (19/Jan/2004): | Like so many other games, Super Smash Bros. Meele is the more advanced version of an older game. But with better graphics. This game rocks way harder than the original. Also there are many differences. For one, there are more characters, but most of them are the same. Like Mario. (It wouldn't be a real game without Mario! ~_0) Anyway, this game is way better. Enough said!
Graphics: Like all 2nd versions, The graphics are better than the old timer. There isn't much to say about the graphics except they are better.
Sound: The sound is slightly changed. There are some new songs for some new levels. There are still some common sounds such as the beam sword slashing, Samus powering up for a big blast, the bob-omb explosion, and the death explosion. The announcer sounds pretty much the same too.
Lifespan: The lifespan is very long. (much like the old game) There are 200 something trophies to earn or win. I have had this game for two years and have still not collected all the trophies. (I only need 12 more) To make a long story short, the game will take even a pro more than 9 months. (For the understudys, much, much longer!)
Fun Factor: High and low at the same time. Low because: The game is 2D for cring out loud, You can only get up to 5 lives, you start out with a couple levels and only 10 characters. High because: Some of the scenery comes alive and attacks you, (literaly!) There are 25 characters, (after you unlock them all) and the game is just plain fun!
Value: It's worth waiting for. (Of course it was realesed a long time ago so you really don't have to wait!) I personaly would pay $50 for this game. But you might want to rent it or try it out before you buy it.

The first one is dbz: budokai, but that's not the topic. Well anyway this game has really good graphic's. Plus alot of new character's. My favorite one is Zelda, she is awesome that is the one i manely use when playing. Link is my second fave. The trophie collecting is very hard, i got 265 so far, i will probably never get finished. But the adventure mode is alittle easy except that stupid, dumb ice climbers stage, i forget the name. But that stage is the most stupid stage on the game. But over all the game is a must have if you like smashing up people. Now another reason this game is an improvement is the classic mode, THE CHARACTERS DO NOT REPEAT IN THE SAME ORDER! that is the best thing. on the first one they just repeat in the same order. for instants ness than samus than mario. the next time you play classic mode ness than samus than mario, same old, same old. This game does not do that. Plus i would have to say my least favorite person is yoshi, i just dont like him. i disliked him on the first one as well, just my opinion. | gamecubes best game ever | | MIKE M from Linden,NewJersey says (8/Jan/2004): | I love this game.It gives you a great selection of characters and levels(when you unlock them all).If you liked the the first SSB game then you'll like this game because of the new selection of characters like Bowser and falco.If you have not played an SSB game before I highly recemend that you do because your missing out on one of the best gameing franchises ever.One thing I did not like about the game was the level icicle mountain.I also dont like Mewtwo,jigglypuff,and pichu cause they just suck.I dont even see the point in unlocking them.If you like facing off against your friends and random cpus at the highest level then you will like tournament and melee mode.Or if you like playing through levels over and over again then you will like playing adventure and classic mode.Also while your playing through the game you get trophys resembling characters from Nintendo games.You can get these trophys by paying coins into a slot machine or completing various goals.Well thats all I have to say about this game, it is by far the best game for the gamecube system.

What I would like to say about the game is, that when I first heard of it, I had completely beaten the Nintendo 64 game, Super Smash Bros. the previous week. I had gone around with a proudness, thinking that I had accomplished something. Well, after my learning of this new game, Super Smash Bros. Melee, I was instantly rekindled in my want for this game. There was only one problem. I didn't have a Gamecube!. Well, about 2 weeks ago, my cousins bought a Gamecube. Well, naturally, I had to buy one also. So, I went to Gamestop (great store, I might add) and purchased one for $99.99 dollars. I thoguht, "What a great deal!" So, my cousins had to get more than I did, so they bought Super Smash Bros. Melee. I burned with jealousy until one day, I went to there house and borrowed it from them. I will tell you, for the probably few people who are reading this, this is truly a remarkable game. It has action, adventure, fighting, secret characters and secret battle arenas; who could ask for anything better? It's like the trilogy of "The Lord of the Rings" was to the movie making business. Yes, quite phenomonal. I have looked at reviews from the past few weeks, and I notice some people commenting on the characters. Well, I must say, that every character is truly great in there own way. There are some things that other characters can do, and some things that other characters can't do. There really is no bad or useless character. You just have to find the arena that he/she works best in, and give it all you've got. About the game: the graphics are, seriously, (not because I like this console better than others) better than any other console. The music is truly phenomenal; in fact; I never get bored of watching the introduction and listening to the awesome music therein. I really see no reason to rate it as it is; Mature, unless you count being knocked out of an arena with a Fire Flower extreme violence. (HAHAHA) I shall conclude by saying that I have always been drawn toward Nintendo games than any other. The work that these people put into it; the thought, the construction, the time, the energy; really makes this game worth playing for hours upon hours.

So SSBM is the best game in the whole universe! Most people think that Mario sucks but he doesn't. Mario is the best like the rest of the characters in SSBM. Boy stuff like violence and too bad words like Vice City, Mortal Combat: Deadly Alliance, WWE, Buffy the vampire, Viva la Bam, Oh, My god so discusting!!! We all hate that and like SSBM & I've heard that there is SSBM3. I think it's going to be great! I bet it will be the greatest game ever. I hope they made it in 2004 than 2005 that will take forever, also if they made it in 3009 people will say *yawn* forever! I love SSBM & SSBM3 I hope they don't get rid of my favorite characters or you will guys will get a wooping! | Bring some friends, we're have a Smash Bros tournament! | | James (Bov) Bovington from Hudderfield, England says (24/Nov/2003): | Super smash brothers melee has to be the best multiplayer game I've had the pleasure of playing, An excellent sequel to an already excellent N64 game. The inclusion of at least 15 new characters really enhanced a winning formula, although some of the character's moves are a bit samey. The graphics and sound are far beyond what had come before, with it's cartoony visual style and bright battle sounds and the single player modes are very well done, something to do when your mates are away.
The trophy collecting aspect of the single player is reason enough to keep playing (Around 219 I think, I'm still collecting!) but you'll always come back eventually to best those single player level scores and times.
Now, the multiplayer, this is what the game was designed for and obviously what it does best, this is where freindships are made solid and enemies made instantly, I once read about a guy who did a 4 person, 24 hour tournament on a game , if you were to try this on smash bros, apart from being one of the best experiences of your life, at least one of you will come out with minor injuries, it can become that competitive!
Its more a life style than a game, with everyone having there own favorite character which no one else can touch.
In brief, all you so called 'hardcore gamers' can keep your super realistic fighters and call mine a kids game, its still one of the best fighting games to grace a console, and definately one of the best multiplayer games of all time.

I think marth is cool because of his shieldbreaker move when it is at full power
even Roy's shieldbreaker is even cooler because all his attacks are all flame based (Well most of them are)
Or kirby he use to be my best character until I met Marth and Roy,but kirby got some good moves like his block move or his hamer even his mini-sword if I would had to pick one of those three it would be Roy even though his shieldbreaker move at full power does 10 damage points to himself , but at full power you could it someone else one hit
