If you like cheezy anime-ish snowboarding...COME AND GET SOME!!! | | Johnathon from Mississauga. Canada says (20/May/2002): | I love snowboarding games. I really do but Dark Summit was missing something... Oh, yeah! A focus on snowboarding. The whole game is based on being chased by ski patrol, bumping shoulders with two loud-mouthed skiers and beating up a European guy named Hanz. (No kidding...Hanz) Graphics during game play are pretty good. Movie graphics are sweet. Almost decent enough are the little funny profanities yelled between the skiers. The sound, yet still animated, has a realistic edge to it. If you're in a gully the voices echo. If you being yelled at from three feet away the voices are louder. Control is easy enough. Push right, move right. You get the idea. I found the special tricks to be a little move complicated. This game isn't set up the way "Cool Boarders" was. You can't go completely insane on the controller and expect ballistic trick totaling thousands of points or anything to that effect. Interaction with the other people on the mountain was pretty cool. If you get in their way, they get in your way. I'm not a big fan of anime-anything. And this game carried with it a shameful anime-ish something. The skinny little bodies, and impossible to copy hair-styles just irked me enough to say, "Please, God. Why?" I haven't beaten the game yet because I started yesterday but the plot is completely given away in the first run of the mountain. "This secret military organization is covering something up." And the stupid little comments like, "Oh, no I've said too much." The over use of the term terrestrial. And the whole thing about their being reports of bright lights hovering over the mountain. Come on! It doesn't take a genius to figure Christmas has past and Santa isn't out exercising those reindeer. But that's just my opinion.
| If you like cheezy snowboarding games go ahead and play away! | | A gamer from Apex, NC, US of A says (30/Nov/2002): | This game isn't all that great. I only bought it because I was trading in my N64 and got store credit and went ballistic with gamecube games. It looked cool in the store but it totally stinks. As the other guy says,I reveals the entire plot. Iv'e played SSX Tricky and it is 10 times as better. The tricks you do are easy and the outfits are cheezy. When you get another outfit all it does is either add a pair of sunglasses or a walkman radio or something. Iv'e played better games.
