Wake up | | FroKishi from Aurora, USA says (21/Jun/2002): | OK, the first thing is that people out there need to learn. WWE does not own the NWO music, the Booker T. Music, or the Ric Flair music. They didn't buy that. Eric Bishoff still owns it. I don't have ESP, but I don;t think old Eric was going to help the company that bought him out and droped like a stone. Also, the Ric Flair music is a classic song called "Also Sprach Zarathursta" Owned by the fammily of the composer that created it. They can't put the music in the game unless they got the rights. They didn't. Other than that, what is the problem. The graphics are great, the intros are better than the reception on most tvs, and the game is fun. The Royal Rumble is just fine. Stop complaining because you got thrown out and can't take over for another character. You lost. Now, for a second, let me explain this word for a while. You LOST. That means the game is over. You don't get another chance. When you are thrown over the top rope and kicked out, you have been Eliminated. That means your done. Anyway, the game is great. It has fun gameplay, great multiplayer and unlike No Mercy, it won't reset itself for no reason. this is the greatest Wrestling game on a CD platform. So, stop looking for things to botch about and enjoy the game.
| You could have done better!!! | | A gamer from Florida United States says (28/Dec/2002): | -.-THQ, hear me out.
Graphics: WOW! Y'all have really out done yourselves this time on the graphics. The hair actually moves like real hair. And ring detail. The motorcycle that Undertaker comes out one is very highly detailed.
Storyline: It's a little mediocre and please make the superstars talk, all there is is matches, matches, matches! Where's the cating in thing. WWE is half acting, right. They has some conversation in WF No Mercy.
Create-A-Wrestler: X.X What! This CAW sux. Please, ad some of the superstars clothes and faces. And what kind of stupid idea would be making a created wreslte have the appearence of a life wrestler. If we're going to have they're whole body let us have some of there clothes. The moves! There's only like 12 moves for grapple. No Mercy had at least 40.
Roster: Who the heck do you people think you are fooling!? Add 4 appearces! Have stables! Use the models for the part where they're show the match status(the superstars, the match type). I sick of seeing that blank body for CAW wrestlers do like you did with No Mercy. Where's Regal's pop belly? Where's Alberts stomach? Why does Jeff has Matt's body(Jeff is that big, I know I watch WWE)
| Straight-forward fun | | CheesyChaz from Dundee,Scotland says (8/Feb/2003): | The following review Scheduled for over 200 words is for WWE Wrestlemania X8! First off over here they changed it to WWE WMX8 istead of WWF WMX8 but that doesn't matter, really. Anyway, next is the GRAPHICS Which are Lush*, solid and extremely realistic. The bad thing about the graphics is the fact that, at times, they look kind of wrong (E.G. reds are too dark, Characters are too fat ect.) other than that there pretty solid. As for the sound FX...WHAT IN THE NAME OF SUPLEXING HAPPENED THERE! The Hardyz Tune is Wrong, Booker T's tune is Wrong, WOOOOOOOOOOOO Ric Flair's is Wrong and So is Stacey Kiebler's, although that's probably due to liscensing difficulties But the rest have no excuse. General SFX are a pleasent affair with kicks sounding like you just broke a rib or 10...thats not a bad thing. Gameplay wise it is Fantasticly fun not because you can run down your opponent in a burning pick-up truck while singing "A Spoon Full Of Suger" (which you can't...Unfortunatly.) But because it is so basic. This game should last you a while and is really worth your cash. Unoriginal but fun. SmackDown copy tonight.
*Smooth and Cool.
| The game is not the best needs some improving big time needs alot of help | | kris cool jay ice from Toronto canada says (6/Oct/2002): | Wrestlemania x8 needs alot of improving i try better games then this.Greate graphics the gameplay dosent bug me that much create a wrestler SUCKS only 13 faces like 4 logos cant edit wrestlers. fun facter sucks updated roster dont let the graphics fool you graphics dosent mean everthing a lot of good matchs.Booker T Ric Flair Hardy boyz and more dont have ther real music they have this cheap crap entrance theams how can they do this to wrestling fans that have gamecube.Gamecube wrestling fans have some sucky wrestling games i thought i knew thq i was depending for a greate wrestling game they had three try just like smckdown for ps2 nintendo with thq made wwf wrestlemania 2000 and no mercy to this crap wrestlemania x8. No mercy is way better wrrestlemania x8 has no story mode some stuped path of champion that sucks to if you go quick you can beat the game in a week thats how stuped the game is no shopzone like in no mercy. If you are a huge wrestling rent it first if your not you will be disapoited. Stick with n64 no mercy and wcw nwo revenge.
| Pretty cool game | | Jerome from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA says (13/Aug/2002): | WWE Wrestlemania X8 may not be the best wrestling game ever, but it is the best that is out right now. One thing that I hated about it was that they only put Superstars and Tag Teams that were in the WWE before and during Wrestlemania X8. I mean, they released it two months after Wrestlemania, at least have the Red and Yellow Hollywood Hulk Hogan or Brock Lesnar. Then there is the Create-A-Superstar mode which was nothing compared to WWF War Zone! I've been looking at CAWs posted in websites and message boards and they don't even look like the real people. Another thing that bugs me is that there is no story mode in the game, which makes it boring after you've won all the titles and unlocked all the characters. Anyway, the match types and the nWo kinda makes up for the errors and mistakes of the game. And the graphics (quoting E&C) totally reek of awesomeness! So all around, it's a pretty good game. But I guess we'll all have to wait 'til the 4th installement of the SmackDown! series comes out so we could run wild on all the WWE Superstars!
| this is the biggest piece of !@#$ | | dam from lewisville, Texas says (30/Dec/2002): | THQ is lucky i even gave this a 1! it deservers a -12 or worse! if you look at the graphics, almost all the wrestlers have the same figure, the graphics are more video game like than real life. CAWmode, where the hell do i start? ok, it sucks, theres only 8 or somthin faces, moves are crappy, cant edit colors, like with the meter in sd:sym, and you can make your createdwrestler look like a superstar, butnot change anything, wtf is up wit dat!? and the story mode, it is the worst story mode in the hisory of wrestling games! the back ground music sounds like a f**kin 2-year-old playing a keyboard! and they screwed up all the entrance music!
and whats next, road to wrestle mania 18! wrestle mania 18 was almost a year ago! the next thing is wrestle mania 19! thats only 2-3 months a way. road to wrestle mania 18 is spose to come out after that...... do u no how pathetic that is?????? well i think all you get the point, cya, and dont buy this game if your planning on it, go buy smackdown!:shutyourmouth, its a hell a lot better than wm18
| To all those who complain... | | Rieko from Oregon, Ohio, USA says (2/Sep/2002): | Let's go back to when there WASN'T a career mode..So there isn't a career mode,so? Just remember the old days before it,the game was still fun, right? Right. Bad CAW mode..Stop whining! And remember when there wasn't a CAW mode, the games were STILL fun! Missing music, okay,so the Book's is gone and so is NWO's,SO WHAT? THQ and Yukes tried their damndest to get close to them, and all you people can do is b*tch?? You're just ungrateful. And whoever said the intro's suck or the music is too low,get a new TV or something, cuzz they kicked azz. The biggest (and basically only) letdown for me was that you can't change a superstars' attire. What if their look changes? What can I do then? Sit it out I guess,oh well. I also had trouble getting use to the control scheme and how to change view, but I got the hang of it now,no prob. And guys, about the lacking roster ...EVERY WWF GAME LACKS SUPERSTARS BY THE TIME ITS RELEASED!!! If you couldn't figure that out,and would just rather complain, I'm glad I'm not you and have your bad sense of taste.
| missing a bit but still really really fun. | | kyle from Quebec,Canada says (4/Jul/2002): | This game has amazing gameplay (I should smack the person who sent a review saying it did not) the graphics on the game are great except for when you are too close to weapons (the weapons shake) and Christians first intro taunt looks pretty sad. I was disappointed with how some of the intro music was changed for superstars. These are the ones that I know about now, Edge, Booker T , the nWo, the Hardyz, Trish Stratus and Ric Flair. Everyone is whining about how there are no new matches included, thats because there are not that many more that the wwe has made. There is only one match that I think might be able to be included, that is the leather strap match. The only other thing that bugged me is that you can not customize everything on the not made up superstars. I think the coolest new addition to this game isthat you can win regular belts and your friends can challenge you for them. Overall it is a great game but I think that some of the problems were made because THQ might have been rushed or they rushed themselves.
| It's fun, but not the best | | Nova Man from Bitburg, Germany says (20/Jan/2003): | Wrestlemania X8 is a game for people who are in the mood to let off some steam or just play around. There is a large variety of wrestlers to choose from, including names such as The Rock, Triple H, Hulk Hogan, and Rob Van Dam. The manuevers are all very well captured in image [although I was a little dissapointed with the Swanton Bomb], and there is a nice variety of matches, including the Table Match, Hell in a Cell match, and the TLC match. The major killing points are the limited characteristics in 'Create A Superstar', and the fact that there's no storyline in the game. The mark-ups are the costume accuracy and and signature poses. No other wrestling game comes close to displaying Matt and Jeff Hardy's nylon shirts, and seeing the Undertaker enter the area on his trademark motorcycle, or seeing Rikishi do his butt-shaking victory-dance is quite fun. Wrap-up: the game is fun to play [especially in multi-player], but wouldn't ever win any gaming awards.
| A good game, but it still needs work | | Justin from Westlake Village, CA says (26/Sep/2002): | WWE Wrestlemania X8 is one of the best wrestling games so far, however there are somethings that still need improvement. As far as gameplay goes, it took a little getting used to, but I say it was pretty good, however it did not have the simple grappling system like No Mercy. For the visuals, most of them were very detailed, some of them however, were not very realistic like RVD and Triple H. Another thing that I would like to point out is that they should show the wrestlers coming out with the belts, and should have title matches in exhibition mode. As far as Create A Wrestler goes, they could have a lot more options like they did in WWF RAW for the Xbox. They could've added a bit more realism like blood, or first blood matches as well, that would've added a little more excitement to it. However WM X8 is still a very fun game to play with all the different match types to choose from. But I still think that there is room for adjustments.
| this game needs medical help | | BiG BOi from the south$$$ from Lousiana,USA says (12/Jan/2004): | this game needs alot of help in different areas for instacnce why are graphics so suckee.and the dont have a decent story mode.Path of a champion mode really bites < remove me > at #$.It seems like every one is trying to jump you and never focuse on the other person. thats why the darn cage matches are so hard when you have a triple threat of a fatal 4 way match in the hell in the cell. and why do they dont have the real music of some of the superstars thats gay the hardy boyz music is not even close to the regular. then booker t's music aint just booty but the graphics of him looks so stupid. he looks like a monkey on crack really his eyes are so gay. Then they dont even have half the moves that smackdown have please help us playstation 2 we need experts please help us. I cant help this game freaken sucks.I mean You get to like a when you first get but damn it gets to boring.Im out Tired of messing with wrestlemania im out
big boi from the south
| I can finally put my N64 AWAY! | | Mike from North Bergen, NJ USA says (23/Jun/2002): | I have been waiting for this game since the day I bought Gamecube on the day it hit stores. However, NO MERCY is just so good, I could never put the N64 away. That all changed with Wrestlemania X8. Flaws - few - I loved the Pay-Per-View mode in No Mercy. Now I just line up my matches in my head... No biggie. I WANT RED AND YELLOW HOGAN! Also not a huge thing. I would like the champions to come to the ring with their belts and be able to defend them in Exhibition like in No Mercy. Now allow me to address the Create a Wrestler. At first I was dissapointed, Then I decided to REALLY try it. I created my very own Brock Lesner. I couldn't be happier with the way he turned out. I couldn't create him on No Mercy. Especially the NECK on him.. I can do without the Battle for the Belts option. Hell in the Cell, TLC, and table matches are UNBELIEVEABLE! Great gameplay and need I mention the Graphics!
| One big let down | | john from Chester City Uk England says (16/Nov/2002): | I like my Wrestling games such as smack down so when i saw a preview of wrestle mania 8 in a magazine i thought wow.I could'nt wait to open up a whole can of whoop ass on the rock. But as soon as i handed over 38 pounds to the shop keeper and put the little shiny disc in the cube my day got worse lets just say thank god for the 10 day money back guarantee. To be Fare the Graphics are really good i was defiantly amazed with that but thats where it ended. The creat a charcater mode is so limited it needs more options. The speed of the game is fast thats another good point. The Game also needs more diffrent modes such as coffin matches and better back room brawls. There is also no blood which is quite boring because if you get hit on the head 10 times in a row you're going to bleed. But i suppose since this is the first wrestling game on the cube other companies can learn and improve.
| Not that bad at all | | Tomos from Wales says (4/May/2004): | Loads of people are given this really bad reviews but i personly dont see what all the problems are. I think it is because its for gamecube and most people who have PS2's just hate them and give them a bad name. I use to have a PS2 and got sooo board of it and traded it for a Gamecube, never looked back since. People and sayin it does not even come into the "smackdown" game range, well i honestly prefer this, the entrances are more realistic, the game play is cool and the range of matchs is good. The only thing Smackdown wins on is the fact the have more moves-wow. This game offers more than just a smackdown experiance but a wrestlemainia-bigger hits and charactors all thrown togther to fight it out in the ultimate battleing areana. If you are considering buying this game go for it-it wins hands down-great fot playing with mates.
Cant wait to buy the latest version now!!!
| wrestlemania x8 the good and the bad | | Tre Smith from Antioch, California says (20/Jul/2002): | Well I have been waiting for this game a long time and im not mad but their are a couple flaws. Nothing big though for example not enough wrestlers and I dont understand how thq even made this mistake 42 grapplers just aint enough. And music that did not bother me none but compaired to wcw games people use to count on wwe games to have the wrestlers real music. Tajiri, Booker T, Trish, The nWo, nor Rick The Nature Boy Flair had their real music but I could live. And backstage I really dont care for, on no mercy I did not really go backstage anyway. But it would be cool if it waz there. And blood how could you play an wwe game without blood i'll just leave it at that. Over all wrestlemania x8 the best wwe wrestling game so far go buy it if your pondering it and I hope the next wwe game for the cube is inproved in the ways i stated.
| Is It worth it?????? | | neil flynn AkA Flynnmaster from evesham england says (8/Oct/2002): | I am from England and wrestlemania x8 has just come out 29/9/02 and to honest i shouldn't have sold my n64.ok x8 is good but the story mode isn't there or more matches.i am not one to complain but i still prefer no mercy.then again ppl wrestlemania 2000 wasn't to good but no mercy improved it.so we never know. The music is a bit off due to copyright laws of course stacy kieblers couldn't be right because of kid rock but it still has the tune.the hardys is the one from forceable entry live for the moment but ones like booker t and nwo is a bit dodgy umm.As for lack of wrestlers well thats cause new wrestlers joined after development such as Brock Lesnar,Rey mysterio, jamie noble etc now europeans get games later because of the need of 5languages.The game is great but well No mercy had better gameplay and its not all about graphics
| It could've been better.... | | Deena from Arizona-United States says (11/Nov/2002): | I gotta admit, the game was cool, but they could have done a better job on it. I mean No Mercy was better than this (well with the quality of superstars and intros), but Wrestlemania X8 has good graphics.I mean theres only what, 36 stars and you can win like 6 stars, when on No Mercy you can win like 20,and there are already like 50!They could probably made the storymode more like Smackdown: Just Bring it, or atleast No Mercy. Come on, there are no promos, no backstage interviews, there is even no sneak attacks!I sure hope the next game is better!I still like the game though. I mean atleast it has more realistic arenas and movements. Make no mistake about it, the game does have better stars. Though, how come some intros are differant, like nWo, Booker T, Team Xtreme, and Trish Stratus?I like the game over all, I gave it a 9.
| Wrestlelamia | | Mad Mole Muncher from NZ says (15/May/2004): | Ok its a pretty decent game. but i mean god Booker T looks like a Cabbage (and the music???), And Mighty Molly became a non mongolated superhero at Wrestlemaina X8 so (As Hurricane wuld say) Whats up with that? and my favourite team, the nWo, is left with terrible poor music. The CAW system is average, pretty crap faces etc. . And to diss this game even more, 5 moves, i mean c'mon 5 poopy moves that have no affect! on the Smackdown games u can do 16 butt kickin moves! and did DDP suddenly die when they made this game? Cos I mean didn't he defend his European Title at X8? against that crybaby Christian? and there missing all the good characters, and why would you want to unlock Rhyno and Raven? I mean god id rather unlock Rico and Goldust! And by the way want a wrestling game? Spend a bit more and buy HERE COMES THE PAIN
| Pretty Good | | Moffat 2003 from Brisbane, Australia says (30/Apr/2004): | Most of the other people who reviewed this game saying
"OMG X8 is teh uber sukk gaime! worest gamime ife evar palayed"
Are drooling Morons. This is a very good game. You wanna play the worst wrestling game ever? Play Legends of Wrestling, you retard.
Ne way this game is pretty good, tho it does have some flaws, such as a career mode. Note that this was the company's first wrestling game (well not yukes but the other bunch ne way) so this game was essentially a demo.
The CAW Is Ok, u just have to no how 2 use it. Like logos n stuff.
So I luv this game, and you people who don't no wot the're talking about should never review again and go kill themselves.
You know who u are, mr. "Omugawwd THIS GAME IS HORRIBBLE!!111
SAVE YOUR FIFTEEEE AND BOIGH SUMTHINK DEESENT!"
I'm gonna go out and buy the sequel now.
| Ok game | | Andrew Riddoch from Mississauga, Ont., Canada says (5/Sep/2004): | You guys say some pretty dumb stuff this games was ok not great but neither were any, ANY! of the smackdown games. the reason being that yukes is a terrible developer. You may notice the best games for N64 were made by AKI, and all smackdowns by yukes. when did the nintendo games start to suck you ask? I'll tell you. It was when yukes got the full contract to make WWE games, this games was still playable and alright but theres no point in comparing it to smackdown because its exactly the same (except for modes) but those change in every single wrestling game there is.
In conclusion go pluck yourselves. n64 games = score of 10
wrestlemania 18 = 6 Wrestlemania 19 = 7
WWE Day of reckoning = 9.5 love the new options and perfect i mean perfect create a wrestler but nothing will EVER beat the n64 games
