Is It worth it?????? |
| neil flynn AkA Flynnmaster from evesham england says (8/Oct/2002): |
I am from England and wrestlemania x8 has just come out 29/9/02 and to honest i shouldn't have sold my n64.ok x8 is good but the story mode isn't there or more matches.i am not one to complain but i still prefer no mercy.then again ppl wrestlemania 2000 wasn't to good but no mercy improved it.so we never know. The music is a bit off due to copyright laws of course stacy kieblers couldn't be right because of kid rock but it still has the tune.the hardys is the one from forceable entry live for the moment but ones like booker t and nwo is a bit dodgy umm.As for lack of wrestlers well thats cause new wrestlers joined after development such as Brock Lesnar,Rey mysterio, jamie noble etc now europeans get games later because of the need of 5languages.The game is great but well No mercy had better gameplay and its not all about graphics
|
The game is not the best needs some improving big time needs alot of help |
| kris cool jay ice from Toronto canada says (6/Oct/2002): |
Wrestlemania x8 needs alot of improving i try better games then this.Greate graphics the gameplay dosent bug me that much create a wrestler SUCKS only 13 faces like 4 logos cant edit wrestlers. fun facter sucks updated roster dont let the graphics fool you graphics dosent mean everthing a lot of good matchs.Booker T Ric Flair Hardy boyz and more dont have ther real music they have this cheap crap entrance theams how can they do this to wrestling fans that have gamecube.Gamecube wrestling fans have some sucky wrestling games i thought i knew thq i was depending for a greate wrestling game they had three try just like smckdown for ps2 nintendo with thq made wwf wrestlemania 2000 and no mercy to this crap wrestlemania x8. No mercy is way better wrrestlemania x8 has no story mode some stuped path of champion that sucks to if you go quick you can beat the game in a week thats how stuped the game is no shopzone like in no mercy. If you are a huge wrestling rent it first if your not you will be disapoited. Stick with n64 no mercy and wcw nwo revenge.
|
the game is not that bad for the first thq game for gamecube |
| slick a.g from canada says (1/Oct/2002): |
The game is ok for the first thq game but i think that the wwe fans that own gamecube deserve a good wrestling game with season mode more features for create a wrestler more moves. real theme music backstages more options more new talents like brock lesnar and chair moves more weapons.corner finishers crowd chants for example for kurt angle [you suck] more details and more realistic moves commentary more outfits for create a wrestler and create a taunt like in smackdown 3 just bring it and more stuff but i heard that wwe wrestlemania x9 is coming for the gamecube and i know thq like to improve stuff so we are going to have to wait and see

A good game, but it still needs work |
| Justin from Westlake Village, CA says (26/Sep/2002): |
WWE Wrestlemania X8 is one of the best wrestling games so far, however there are somethings that still need improvement. As far as gameplay goes, it took a little getting used to, but I say it was pretty good, however it did not have the simple grappling system like No Mercy. For the visuals, most of them were very detailed, some of them however, were not very realistic like RVD and Triple H. Another thing that I would like to point out is that they should show the wrestlers coming out with the belts, and should have title matches in exhibition mode. As far as Create A Wrestler goes, they could have a lot more options like they did in WWF RAW for the Xbox. They could've added a bit more realism like blood, or first blood matches as well, that would've added a little more excitement to it. However WM X8 is still a very fun game to play with all the different match types to choose from. But I still think that there is room for adjustments.

Rental only, at best! |
| Ryan from Warren, RI says (20/Sep/2002): |
This game stinks! What I expected was a wrestling game that dominated all previously released wrestling games on any platform. What I played was a pile of crap! It's not the worst game. The worst game I played was Wrestlemania for the original NES back in the 80's. The graphics are ok..kinda looks like those of "Legends of Wrestling" that was released not to long ago. Contol/Gameplay? Terrible. Even the Playstation Smackdown was better than that. If you want a top of the line wrestling game, and if you don't have these already, go out and buy an N64 system with these two wrestling games: WWF No Mercy and WCW/nWo Revenge!!! I strongly recommend that you rent Wrestlemania X8 first.

This game rock!!! |
| Nick Maraffino from Highland falls, USA says (12/Sep/2002): |
First i love this game i don't get tired of playing it there so much to do i love havin hell in a cell and tlc matches. I last ride angle through the cell it was cool. The entrances are the best graphically good sound rocks the wrestlers look like like the wrestlers. I recommend byin this game if your a true blue wwe fan.

To all those who complain... |
| Rieko from Oregon, Ohio, USA says (2/Sep/2002): |
Let's go back to when there WASN'T a career mode..So there isn't a career mode,so? Just remember the old days before it,the game was still fun, right? Right. Bad CAW mode..Stop whining! And remember when there wasn't a CAW mode, the games were STILL fun! Missing music, okay,so the Book's is gone and so is NWO's,SO WHAT? THQ and Yukes tried their damndest to get close to them, and all you people can do is b*tch?? You're just ungrateful. And whoever said the intro's suck or the music is too low,get a new TV or something, cuzz they kicked azz. The biggest (and basically only) letdown for me was that you can't change a superstars' attire. What if their look changes? What can I do then? Sit it out I guess,oh well. I also had trouble getting use to the control scheme and how to change view, but I got the hang of it now,no prob. And guys, about the lacking roster ...EVERY WWF GAME LACKS SUPERSTARS BY THE TIME ITS RELEASED!!! If you couldn't figure that out,and would just rather complain, I'm glad I'm not you and have your bad sense of taste.

the best |
| buckster from southport england says (18/Aug/2002): |
this game is the best i dont no why your complaining so the entrances are not so good or create a wrestler isent up to much i am sure we can live with out a few minor details so stop thinking about the bad points and focus on the good any way its still a wwe game and in my opinion its the best game EVER!!

Pretty cool game |
| Jerome from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA says (13/Aug/2002): |
WWE Wrestlemania X8 may not be the best wrestling game ever, but it is the best that is out right now. One thing that I hated about it was that they only put Superstars and Tag Teams that were in the WWE before and during Wrestlemania X8. I mean, they released it two months after Wrestlemania, at least have the Red and Yellow Hollywood Hulk Hogan or Brock Lesnar. Then there is the Create-A-Superstar mode which was nothing compared to WWF War Zone! I've been looking at CAWs posted in websites and message boards and they don't even look like the real people. Another thing that bugs me is that there is no story mode in the game, which makes it boring after you've won all the titles and unlocked all the characters. Anyway, the match types and the nWo kinda makes up for the errors and mistakes of the game. And the graphics (quoting E&C) totally reek of awesomeness! So all around, it's a pretty good game. But I guess we'll all have to wait 'til the 4th installement of the SmackDown! series comes out so we could run wild on all the WWE Superstars!

Super Game but some things were wrong |
| Punisher from Paducah, Kentucky says (4/Aug/2002): |
Well the game play is fine if U like N64 combind with Smackdown. Hell in the Cell is the most kick ass thing. I wish U could go in the back. Created player Sucked majorly but if U can over look some things like that. I have a few problems with doing the 3D and also the player select. Like the missplace of wrestlers like wheres Chuck, Billy, DDP, Shawn, and a few others but the games a great buy.

Save your money |
| Mike from Cleveland, OH says (26/Jul/2002): |
Worst WWE game ever. Lack of career mode/story. Lack of blood. Lack of active wrestlers. Lack of moves. Lack of correct music. Lack of commentary. Button/action response slow. Crappy create-a-wrestler. Lack of fun. Smackdown for PS1 was 1,000 times better.
|
Solid game, but doesn't live up to expectations. |
| A gamer says (24/Jul/2002): |
So here's how it goes. THQ makes great games for the Nintendo 64... Wrestlemaina 2000, and No Mercy. They put detail into the create a wrestler, the use of weapons, the backstage are and the wrestlers themselves. I was a huge fan and bought Wrestlemania X8 without question. I like to make myself in create-a-wrestler but decide to go righ to a Hell in the Cell match. It was the fist time a Nintendo wrestling game had one of those. The match starts(I had read the instruction booklet before hand so I know a bit about the grappling engine and such)and awkwardness immediately follows with the shotty grappling system. I had played the Smackdown series and hated the grappling system because it takes all the strategy out of the game. Why go from something that works to something that barely works? .... But its okay i digress, and its just something i need to get used to. Maybe if I go and make my own character i will get used to the system... Wow what did they do to create a wrestler. The faces are limited, as is the clothing apparrel. The taunts are not nearly enough, and the amount of moves they took out of the game was horrendous! You are no longer able to dropkick a guy while he is standing inside the ring and you are on the apron. You are no longer able to have your own original finisher... you have to use a pre-exsisting superstars. And what was worst about the create a wrestler was the lack of control you had over your guy's personality. You could no longer pick a rival to interrupt your matches and you can no longer have a valet! What good is a game without a pretty girl in your corner rooting you on. Now down to the hidden charaters... Benoit, Rhyno are excellent additions! Vince and Ric, ok no problem. Stacey wonderfully done to put her in. Now out of all the light heavy weights that you could have put in... they put in Raven. I like Raven but jeesh. With only 4o plus exsisting characters... what where they thinking.

Review on Wrestlmania x8 by Sniper89 |
| Colin Van Dyke from Chesapeake, Virginia, USA says (24/Jul/2002): |
Several aspects of this game were among the best I've ever seen. On the other hand, some need improvement. On the downside, some of the music in this game was not correct( e.g. Tajiri, NwO, Trish Stratus, Nature Boy Ric Flair.) It also would have been nice if they had added a few extra people like Sean Michaels, X-Pac, Gold Dust, Spike Dudley, Eddie Guerrero, Tommy Dreamer, Chris Nowinski, and maybe Jamie Noble. It also would have been cool if Hogan had had his current music. They could also have updated the game as new wrestlers joined the WWE like Brock Lesnar. Also, I don't think they gave us enough options in the Create a Superstar mode. For instance, I tried to make a current wrestler of Hulk Hogan, with the Hulkamania shirt and everything, and when I went for the Hulkamania logo to put on his shirt, I couldn't find it. Being as he is my favorite wrestler, this upset me. Also, some of the faces of the wrestlers were a bit jacked up. The Rock didn't look like The Rock on bit, and Trish was unrecognizable. On the upside, the graphics were extremely good in my opinion. The music that was correct was fun to listen to. The gameplay was OK. Frankly, I think they need to put in more moves for each wrestler (Ex: Icouldn't figure ut how to do the Ankle Lock with Kurt Angle. Also, these people just won't tap out!) I felt that the lifespan was good. It took a while for me to have problems getting up. This game is also extremely fun. The Battle for the Belts had me occupied for DAYS! I feel the originality isgood what with all the meters like adrenaline, spirit, and how many special attacks you could do (Ithought there should have been more.) The fact that when you win a title with a character that you made you get ten creation points is also a plus. With hat, I found it easy to make the best wrestler in the game. Overall, I think this game is a good buy for anyone who likes to invite friends over to play in multilayer mode, or anyone who likes layin' da smack down on Y2J.

wrestlemania x8 the good and the bad |
| Tre Smith from Antioch, California says (20/Jul/2002): |
Well I have been waiting for this game a long time and im not mad but their are a couple flaws. Nothing big though for example not enough wrestlers and I dont understand how thq even made this mistake 42 grapplers just aint enough. And music that did not bother me none but compaired to wcw games people use to count on wwe games to have the wrestlers real music. Tajiri, Booker T, Trish, The nWo, nor Rick The Nature Boy Flair had their real music but I could live. And backstage I really dont care for, on no mercy I did not really go backstage anyway. But it would be cool if it waz there. And blood how could you play an wwe game without blood i'll just leave it at that. Over all wrestlemania x8 the best wwe wrestling game so far go buy it if your pondering it and I hope the next wwe game for the cube is inproved in the ways i stated.

The best Gamecube game available. |
| Zac Muller (a.k.a. RVD's #1 fan!) from Great Falls, Montana says (13/Jul/2002): |
Today I went and bought a Gamecube. Along with it I purchased several games including WWE Wrestlemania X8. I was blown away by it and I'll tell you why. The entrances are perfect, with the exception of some of the wrestlers' music not being correct. The graphics are the best in any wrestling game. There is a wide variety of characters but there should've been more. I mean how does Jaqcueline get in the game before Billy, Chuck, or even Spike Dudley? There are a wide variety of matches and the characters seem to take actual damage unlike other games. The worst thing for me was the weapons, it took me forever to learn how to use them. So if you are planning on getting a Gamecube or already have one, be sure to pick up this great game.

one of the best |
| Andrew Pribyl (thats right i gave you my real name) from Green Bay, Wisconsin says (9/Jul/2002): |
This game has its flaws, but it still beats all of the games besides the smackdown series. Some people are saying that the hardyz music is wrong, but then they must not know anything about wrestling. That theme was the theme by monster magnet (live for the moment) on the recently released forceable entry cd. There could have been more moves, but the no mercy engine made good use of the tables (you don't fall off the table during a move). Another great thing is the use of tables in a tlc match. This is the first game i've seen that you can superplex someone off of a ladder and through a table. And other games only had two moveable tables, but this one you can get many more. The hell in a cell match is much improved. The cell finnaly gets away from the ring. It is also more real because you have to weaken walls or cell panel tops to break them. Another thing done well is the real life fell. In previose games you could superplex someone off of a ladder 20min into a match and get to your feet in less than a second. In this game you stay down giving it the feel of despiration manouvers. One thing I noticed is the very detailed anouncers. JR looks good and they move away when your near them. One thing is that they have anouncers but the announces don't talk. I think anyone who gave this game a bad review should think it over and actually look deeper into the game itself.

really a great game |
| stewy the gamer from Ottawa,Illinois says (9/Jul/2002): |
this game is great not much for create a wrestler but i didnt care cause i dont create wrestlers. If ya dont like the moves fore the people then feel free to change them. The matches were good i would think if they were getting that creative with the matches hten the should have put guest Ref. king of the ring and elimination tag matches. as for the people that are in there i couldnt belive the they didnt put DDP Billy N Chuck or Jazz after all she was the womens champ but i guess that dont matter since that belt aint even in there. When HHH entered i was kinda mad with the entrances they have it was kinda decent. All in All it was a pretty damn good game
|
This game has its ups and downs |
| Grant Olson from Federal Way, WA says (8/Jul/2002): |
This game was possibly the best wrestling game for any of the new councles this year. I went to my friends house to play Legends of wrestling, which is the other wrestling game for the Gamecube while he came over to my house and we took a vote, we obviously picked Wrestlemania x8. One big thing the missed out on big time was the choice of career mode and i definately think that is a pain in the < remove me > at $$. On the other hand, i was able to make a great character on create-a-superstar but what its lacking is the choice of clothing. Some entrances are old, and i think that should have been the last thing they should have done so they had time to add in extra wrestlers. there are i think there are about over 40 characters but i dont see why they put in vince because when i played with him, he was as good as edge- my fav. wrestler. but come on there missing obivous people like hardcore holly, Al snow, DDP, need i go on? but what im still trying to figure out is what Battle for the belts, is for, cause when i got into it there are like 50 somthin belts and i dunno, but can i get them? there is andre the giant (unlock by getting all titles with big show within 20 hrs). The graphic and gameplay are awesome, and dont get me wrong on that. But the lack of backstage and career mode do bring down its replay value. i mean i dont have a problem, ive been playing it for 1 week now and i havent gotten tired of it. Overall if you got friends over, this is an awsome multiplayer game.

In my opinion, HORRIBLE! |
| josh from Edmonton, Canada says (6/Jul/2002): |
A couple of days ago, I rented Wrestlemania X8 for Gamecube. I thought it was going to be awesome. However, it wasn't. When i put the game in, i quickly went to the create-a-player mode. It sucked. After that, i went to listen to the entrance music. The music of the NWO, booker T, hardyz, and trish made me laugh!!. And the music wasn't just the only flaw of the game. There was no career mode or story mode of the game. And each wrestler only had like 5 moves! No mercy beats this game by a long shot. Even Wrestlemania 2000, Attitude, and Warzone are even better. Yukes and THQ, you need to make some big improvements to your wrestling games.
|
missing a bit but still really really fun. |
| kyle from Quebec,Canada says (4/Jul/2002): |
This game has amazing gameplay (I should smack the person who sent a review saying it did not) the graphics on the game are great except for when you are too close to weapons (the weapons shake) and Christians first intro taunt looks pretty sad. I was disappointed with how some of the intro music was changed for superstars. These are the ones that I know about now, Edge, Booker T , the nWo, the Hardyz, Trish Stratus and Ric Flair. Everyone is whining about how there are no new matches included, thats because there are not that many more that the wwe has made. There is only one match that I think might be able to be included, that is the leather strap match. The only other thing that bugged me is that you can not customize everything on the not made up superstars. I think the coolest new addition to this game isthat you can win regular belts and your friends can challenge you for them. Overall it is a great game but I think that some of the problems were made because THQ might have been rushed or they rushed themselves.
