quit complaining!!!8214

A gamer from washingtonville ny usa says (2/Jul/2002):
Look i say it's good graphically good, the entrances are way better than no mercy the videos are clear. you got all the new wrestlers the matches kick ass having 4 way cages and ladders. beats playing smackdown 2. Sure the create a wrestler mode is not that great no mercy isn't that great. So quit your complaing maybe think twice before buying rent it first and u like than buy don't whine about how wasted your money grow up!

not real good8187

Eric from Atlanta, USA says (1/Jul/2002):
I think Wrestlemania X8 was a big let down. The lack of moves are a joke. Why would they cut back on moves? And going for the belts on No Mercy was great. You had different roads to take when you lost. I would be happy with the game if it had more moves and the story mode. The graphics overall are good and I dont care about the right music and stuff like that. I just wonder if WWE was rushing THQ to get the game out or THQ tried to hurry it up since they already got the other game systems wrestling games out.

Nothing more than dissapointing8139

David Campbell from Ottawa, Canada says (28/Jun/2002):
It took me all of two minutes of playing this game to realize that it was going to be a huge dissapointment. I really enjoyed No Mercy for N64, and was, at the very least, expecting this game to be at least as good. The graphics are ok but the game is not smooth, especially when there are multiple wrestlers and items in the ring. Sometimes your wrestler will get pushed to the other side of the ring for no reason. Perhaps the biggest dissapointment was the lack of moves. All the other THQ wrestling games were outstanding in this department, with a huge list of moves to choose from for every character. For some reason they only included a few moves per wrestler in this game and it really makes the game repetitive. The game is also lacking some form of a carrer mode. Something with a story. They didn't really include a game mode that you could get into. I could see this game being fun if you have three buddies over and you're playing a four way hell in the cell match, but besides that, there's not much to it. I get the impression that this game was rushed. It was definetly a step backwards as far as inovative wrestling games go, as it didn't really give you anything new and failed to include many of the best features from the past games.

Please dont waste your money like i did8110

Jawone Ray from Detroit Mi USA says (27/Jun/2002):
Now i ahve been a gaming and wrestling fan since i was 4 and i must say that if you wanna play the best wrestling game on the market, pick up No Mercy for N64 or the old Wrestlefest on Arcade, but this game which i have already broken was the biggest waste of 50 ever, i mean come on they dont have all the wrestlers themes and if you listen to Booker T's theme here's how it goes "dum dum doom dum doom dum" that is hillarious to me. There is no career mode which flat out kills the replay value and the worst thing of all is the lack of strong and weak grapple moves, i mean every wrestler has 5 moves. God what a waste of good hard earned cash

LAZY CREATORS!8088

Madd Matt from Los Angeles, California says (26/Jun/2002):
i think that this game lacked any type of finesse or style that all other WWE games had. The wrestlers look terrible, The gameplay sucks, and half of the theme songs are missing! i feel that this game shouldn't even go on this list of WWE Games and should just be considered a preleude to a bigger and better game such as, oh...i dunno.... SMACKDOWN 4!

The game is fine but it doesn't have the matches and backstages evey wwe fan wants8076

The Game from USA says (25/Jun/2002):
The gameplay is really really fun when u play on painful or hard and the grapichs are so totally cool i mean if there were blood, backstages, and those type of matches like i quit, 6 man tag, 6 man hell in a cell, guest referey, and the king of the ring, and more matches but i forgot i know that all u people would love story mode if it had story mode i would like play that game so many times until i get bored and i know that u people would give this game and would like give it 9.5 i mean i would if it contanied more stuff that the fans want and i want. And i would really have more fun with the game if it was like wwe smackdown just bring it i mean when u play with the superstars u have the feeling that your acutally wrestling in reall life i mean u feel it when u play the game but.. the game it's not more fun than wrestlemania x8 but it's fun in story mode i mean i played the game but the only thing i love is the story mode i really love that nothing else is good in the game like create a wrestle what kind of $#< remove me > at ! is that and what the hell is the music OLD WWE music i mean at least wrestlemania x8 has every supersatrs new music that's why i love it for a reason and at least every thing is upgarded in wrestlemania x8.I think that wrestlemania x9 is the next game coming out for gamecube. I WISH SO.

the best wwe game, bigger than the immortal pay-per-view wrestlemania x88049

shawn kahan from solon, ohio says (24/Jun/2002):
If you are a big wwe fan than this game will stun you. This game has the greatest graphics and sound. It has the best matches like hell and the cell, ladder match, hardcore, tlc, ect. the bad thing about the game is jim ross and jerry the king lawler dosen't talk, but you can see them trying to talk, kind of funny. Also, the wrestler don't talk and there is no road to the titles, but there is a battle to the belt, and finally, you can not go back-stage. This game is still awsome anyway. You must buy this game, it is worth buying it. Plus, there are secret characters in this game like, ryno, vince mcmahn, raven, and ric flair. All you have to do is just beat all the belts and you win. So if you like wwe, go buy it.

Wrestlemania X88012

Nick from adf says (23/Jun/2002):
Ok for all you guys expecting this game to be like No Mercy it is. Same basic gameplay and same basic controls.... I mean would you rather play this or smackdown? pfft come on now we all know that this game owns any of its predisesors on the ps2 and xbox. Raw just straight up sux and Smackdown 2 is just straight up annoying to play. I would suggest you guys quit complaining about ever damn flaw in the game... every game has them why should this one be different?

I can finally put my N64 AWAY!8023

Mike from North Bergen, NJ USA says (23/Jun/2002):
I have been waiting for this game since the day I bought Gamecube on the day it hit stores. However, NO MERCY is just so good, I could never put the N64 away. That all changed with Wrestlemania X8. Flaws - few - I loved the Pay-Per-View mode in No Mercy. Now I just line up my matches in my head... No biggie. I WANT RED AND YELLOW HOGAN! Also not a huge thing. I would like the champions to come to the ring with their belts and be able to defend them in Exhibition like in No Mercy. Now allow me to address the Create a Wrestler. At first I was dissapointed, Then I decided to REALLY try it. I created my very own Brock Lesner. I couldn't be happier with the way he turned out. I couldn't create him on No Mercy. Especially the NECK on him.. I can do without the Battle for the Belts option. Hell in the Cell, TLC, and table matches are UNBELIEVEABLE! Great gameplay and need I mention the Graphics!

Wake up7994

FroKishi from Aurora, USA says (21/Jun/2002):
OK, the first thing is that people out there need to learn. WWE does not own the NWO music, the Booker T. Music, or the Ric Flair music. They didn't buy that. Eric Bishoff still owns it. I don't have ESP, but I don;t think old Eric was going to help the company that bought him out and droped like a stone. Also, the Ric Flair music is a classic song called "Also Sprach Zarathursta" Owned by the fammily of the composer that created it. They can't put the music in the game unless they got the rights. They didn't. Other than that, what is the problem. The graphics are great, the intros are better than the reception on most tvs, and the game is fun. The Royal Rumble is just fine. Stop complaining because you got thrown out and can't take over for another character. You lost. Now, for a second, let me explain this word for a while. You LOST. That means the game is over. You don't get another chance. When you are thrown over the top rope and kicked out, you have been Eliminated. That means your done. Anyway, the game is great. It has fun gameplay, great multiplayer and unlike No Mercy, it won't reset itself for no reason. this is the greatest Wrestling game on a CD platform. So, stop looking for things to botch about and enjoy the game.

Best Wrestling Game Ever7931

Stephen Gould from Toronto, Canada says (19/Jun/2002):
Thie game rocks. Even though the create a wrestler mode is bad it, it still is a good game. The graphics are amazing, and there are tons of mach posibilities. The players only have 2 costumes but you dont need more. The quest for the titles is just like most 64 games and theres the battle for the belts option were you wrestle for custom belts (is that in any other games, dont think so) Over all this game is the best wrestling game that has ever been made, so dont listen to everyone else you should try the game and if you like, well then buy it!

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.7945

Ben from Des Moines, USA says (19/Jun/2002):
Alright, to start off, this game has a few huge improvements over the N64 wrestling games (WrestleMania 2000, WCW/nWo Revenge, etc.) One of these is obviously the graphics, which shouldn't need to be mentioned. Another is the sound and video quality, which of course are naturally going to get better when you move a game from cartridge to disc. (I can actually tell what the videos are showing, as opposed to the GIF-like animations in WM 2000.) However, I was seriously disappointed by the Create a Superstar mode, mainly because there aren't nearly enough costume designs to make an original character, plus, you HAVE to have a current wrestler's video on their entrance instead of having no video or a generic video of some sort. (What the hell is up with that? They've already made all those, why would we want to clone them?) The huge selection of match types helps, but in the Royal Rumble mode once you or your friends you're playing with get eliminated, the computers take over for the rest of the match. If there is a way to change this, someone please tell me, because that is one of the only features that has really ruined this game for me. I mean, after unlocking all the hidden characters, what else is there to do? The battle for the belts mode is ridiculous in my opinion. Just fighting for renamed titles, don't see the big draw there. Well, anyway, if anyone's got a way to change it so you can play the Royal Rumble as the guy that comes in after you get knocked out (N64 wrestling games have it.) please post or send me an e-mail at GoldKman64< remove me > at aol.com because I personally don't like watching the computers fight for 2 hours.

what happened to the good wrestling games7887

legendarykhmai from St.Paul, Minnesota says (17/Jun/2002):
What happened?? Where is the real NWO music, where is the yellow and red on Hogan, and only 2 different outfits for each character. Wheres the instant replay, the create a wrestler mode is a joke. I cant even tell how tall my wrestlers are, WrestleMania 2000 for the N64 was better, the controls are a joke, why cant they just leave the controls like the N64 wrestling games. Why cant i stop in the middle of my characters taunt, so many flaws in this game, the N64 WWE games are better... hhhmmm whats good about it, the graphics oh yeah, i didnt have to spend my own money on it.

Alright... in that sort of way.7887

Tidus from virginia beach, va USA says (16/Jun/2002):
Although people say that Wrestlemania X8 is not as good as No Mercy.. it still has its advantages. As a huge No Mercy fan i still love the graphics in this game. But as everyone knows.. the only downfalls that are in the game is that there is no story line. i would like to actually get to know what the feel of a wrestlers life is about.. but you can not critisize about that cause there is only so much that you can fit on that tiny disc.

This maybe the BIGGEST letdown of 2002!7859

Kevin "eXtremist" Morris from Bluefield, WV says (15/Jun/2002):
Wrestlemania X8 was highly anticipated, but fails to capture the gold. For starters the graphics will make you feel as if you are watching well a very pretty video game. Personally I think THQ was trying to fool you into thinking this was the WWF No Mercy of the Gamecube. The details could have been push a little better on each wrestlers face, but the sets look as good as anyone could have expected. Everything from Wrestlermania X8 to the classic Smackdown sets are on this game. Next the entrances are a close to TV fit too. Jericho, Triple H, The Rock, Stone Cold, the developers worked their magic well on them, but once again the let downs came as the fake music plays for the nWo, Booker T, and The Hardy Boyz. At least the titan tron video is clean as can be. And what about the sound, well I guess it was to hard to fit cheers into the game. Also JR and King might be ringside but all you get to hear is pathic background music. Now the create-a-wrestler mode has taken about two giant leaps backwards. It impossible to make someone that isn't already a WWE superstar. The faces reflect anyone from Crash Holly to Mankind. Everything is very basic and bland feeling in the create-a-wreslter. Don't waste your time in it unless you want to make DDP, Catus Jack, HBK, old WWF stars etc.
After fooling around with all that you might decide to play a match. Next you'll notice that only 40% of the current WWE talent is on the roster. You're not going to find Billy and Chucky, Brock Lesner, Paul Heyman, Al Snow, Maven, and other choice superstars. On a lighter note you can unlock Rhyno, Ric Flair, Chris Beniot, even Vinny Mac himself. Next you're going to be happy because they have any match you would ever want. Hell in the Cell, TLC, Ladder, Hardcore, ect, but once again there is not Buried Alive match and they also scraped the Casket match. I found the Royal Rumble to be lame because only 4 people could be in the ring. That sucks! The game play could also have not been more basic. Push A do a grapple move. I think you get 5 grapple moves. Speical move are also pulled off with a press of A+B. One thing I miss is the instant replay after big moves. Is it just me or would you love to see The Hurricane take out Molly with The Eye of the Hurricane a couple time because off how she won the hardcore belt at Wrestlemania X8. Speaking of Hardcore matches where did Yukes put the backstage areas. Hardcore isn't the same without a good backstage match. Wrestlemania X8 also lacks a season mode. No storylines equals a very low replay value once you beat Path of Champions if you can get into playing it at all. Fianlly to wrap it all up I would like to say if you're craving a wrestling game with a newer roster and a nice look here you go, but otherwise as The Hurricane might say "STAND BACK" this game is not for you!

After Some time with The Game7872

Az from Whitehorse, (Yk) Canada says (15/Jun/2002):
I've spent some time with the game, played around with the modes, and I figure that a lot of people jumped to some conclusions. Those of you complaining about the create-a-wrestler, no, you're right, it's not as good as Smackdown. But Smackdown has had 3 tries to get it this far too. Those of you complaining about the enterance music? Yeah, they left some good ones out. The four person royal rumble? Aren't you the same people who complained about Smackdown for the very reason that it had too many people, and it was hard to target?

I have to admit, the wrestler this is painfully short, and the lack of backstage areas is sore point. The midi-style music is damn near laughable, but none of these things detract from the gameplay.
I was one of the many people eagerly anticipating the sequel to No Mercy for the 64, and I was dissapointed. However, when it comes down to it, this stands head and shoulders above Raw for the X-Box and Legends of Wrestling for the PS2. I don't regret buying it, and it's fun to play with a couple of friends.

They're choices for secret wrestlers leave something to be desired... Rhyno? He was
1) a secret character in Smackdown
2) Not all that big a star... Where's Shawn Michaels? Mankind? DDP?

Oh well, the sequel may address these issues.

I guess some of u people didnt play the game7872

play the game from usa says (14/Jun/2002):
For everyone that has made a review of this game they say Ric Flair and Rrhyno are not in it... well I got news for you they are they are a secret characters, and as for the music Edge and NWO they where not able to get the rights to put it in the video game. I have to agree with everyone saying how carrer mode and create-a-wrestler sucks, but as for the game play it makes it more realistic. I mean come on its better then Smackdown where matches where like 10secs long and No Mercy where they where like 30 mins long. At least when you play with your friends I have to say that for multi-player it so far is the best.

Not as good as No Mercy but still prety damn good7855

Hammer from Omaha,Nebraska,USA says (14/Jun/2002):
The gameplay is fantastic and the controls are excellent. They could do better with the create a wrestler but other than that this game is everything I expected it to be and more. I'll still be a hardcore No Mercy fan, being that it's the best wrestling out so far but who knows what the future has in store for wrestling games. Think of it this way for those of you who don't like this game, its ten times better than Legends of Wrestling for both the GameCube & Xbox!!. The only thing that disappoints me about this game is that there is no story mode that lets you get drawn into the real life wrestling, I'd like to be able to get rivals and injure someone so they'd be out for a week and actually control who I fight and who i make partnerships with.

not as good as i expected...7807

A gamer from Aiea, HI says (13/Jun/2002):
The game was not all that great as i expected... i'd say the graphics and sound is awesome although NWO and booker Ts music and albert still has the "too cool" music the hardys are missing their music and edge still has his old school music as well... Its missing a whole lot of wrestlers in the game such as al snow, maven, hardcore, chavo, ddp, brok, billy n chuck, raven, ric flair... unless they are hidden characters cuz all i was able to get was rhino, the game made me lose interest to try n get the rest of the characters... The entrances are the best thing i've ever seen its so realistic and feels like your in the arena. The triple threat n fatal four way as well as the 4way cage n ladder matches are a pain to win, it takes to long, or i dunno maybe im a terrible player i dont really care. The create a wrestler is very very limited to making the wrestler you exactly want, maybe in size but not the close or logos. The controls are terrible with the feel that seems exactly like smackdown! with no realism at all, the moves n controls dont feel as real compared to playing NO MERCY or Wrestlermania 2000... it doesnt make you feel like you delivered a lot of pain to your opponent and just feels like you did all the moves 4 nothin, I say yukes or THQ should have stuck with the NO MERCY controls, then it could really be called the king of all wrestlin games... I think its a waste of $50 bucks and if you didnt like smackdown!, theres no way you'll come close to liking the game WRESTLEMANIA X8... just dont buy it and save your money.

Decent at best7825

Jeff from Torrington, USA says (13/Jun/2002):
Being an avid wrestling and video game fan I can say that this wasn't the wait. I own both XBox and Game Cube and have to say that both were not worth it to me. I loved WWF No Mercy and expected this to be good, and was sorta let down. First, I couldn't wait to make myself and use the nWo's theme but was very let down when I found that it wasn't the real one. Gameplay is quick but seems like it was made quick for those who are just casual fans of both the WWE and gamers. Where is Ric Flair? Where is Rhyno? Raven? Tommy Dreamer? good music? a decent career mode? Where is Stacey Keibler? Come on THQ. Come on Vinny Mac. Come on Nintendo, give us something to work with here.
