I think that this game was pretty good but the way that there is not even any commentating, as the hurricane says "what's up with that!" And anoter thing, why do the wrestlers just get straight back up after a stunner or a pedigree? I think it is too unrealistic, don't you think that the women's championship is pretty important, and even when I go for the title I have to go through at least 6 guys!? 19 had better have commentating or you bumholes are going to be booed out of your jobs!

Ok its a pretty decent game. but i mean god Booker T looks like a Cabbage (and the music???), And Mighty Molly became a non mongolated superhero at Wrestlemaina X8 so (As Hurricane wuld say) Whats up with that? and my favourite team, the nWo, is left with terrible poor music. The CAW system is average, pretty crap faces etc. . And to diss this game even more, 5 moves, i mean c'mon 5 poopy moves that have no affect! on the Smackdown games u can do 16 butt kickin moves! and did DDP suddenly die when they made this game? Cos I mean didn't he defend his European Title at X8? against that crybaby Christian? and there missing all the good characters, and why would you want to unlock Rhyno and Raven? I mean god id rather unlock Rico and Goldust! And by the way want a wrestling game? Spend a bit more and buy HERE COMES THE PAIN

this game is a disgrace! it is the worst game i have ever played in my life, and i have played some bad ones b4. All u people who like it need some mental help. The fighting was horrible, no story lines, nintendo needs to leave wrestling games where they belong on PS2!!!

This game is a game every wrestling fan wants, this is WrestleMania X8. Although this game is very good it has some down points to it like: you can't go back stage or make you're own stable and lets not forget the blood their is none $#!*. Other wise comparing this to No Mercy it is slightly better. The reason why the graphics are good and the girls look hot especailly Trish.

OK, the first thing is that people out there need to learn. WWE does not own the NWO music, the Booker T. Music, or the Ric Flair music. They didn't buy that. Eric Bishoff still owns it. I don't have ESP, but I don;t think old Eric was going to help the company that bought him out and droped like a stone. Also, the Ric Flair music is a classic song called "Also Sprach Zarathursta" Owned by the fammily of the composer that created it. They can't put the music in the game unless they got the rights. They didn't. Other than that, what is the problem. The graphics are great, the intros are better than the reception on most tvs, and the game is fun. The Royal Rumble is just fine. Stop complaining because you got thrown out and can't take over for another character. You lost. Now, for a second, let me explain this word for a while. You LOST. That means the game is over. You don't get another chance. When you are thrown over the top rope and kicked out, you have been Eliminated. That means your done. Anyway, the game is great. It has fun gameplay, great multiplayer and unlike No Mercy, it won't reset itself for no reason. this is the greatest Wrestling game on a CD platform. So, stop looking for things to botch about and enjoy the game.

Well I have been waiting for this game a long time and im not mad but their are a couple flaws. Nothing big though for example not enough wrestlers and I dont understand how thq even made this mistake 42 grapplers just aint enough. And music that did not bother me none but compaired to wcw games people use to count on wwe games to have the wrestlers real music. Tajiri, Booker T, Trish, The nWo, nor Rick The Nature Boy Flair had their real music but I could live. And backstage I really dont care for, on no mercy I did not really go backstage anyway. But it would be cool if it waz there.And blood how could you play an wwe game without blood i'll just leave it at that. Over all wrestlemania x8 the best wwe wrestling game so far go buy it if your pondering it and I hope the next wwe game for the cube is inproved in the ways i stated.

General/Summary: Where do I start? I realize that in the gaming industry there are certain deadlines that have to be met in order to have the game on the store shelves on the given release. From what I understand, this game had a very short production time from start to finish. But how in the world does it make sense to build a new wrestling game from the ground up and expect for it to be a decent game in such a limited production time? What DOES make sense to me is sticking with what works, and with this type of game(wrestling), people want more features added to this game they played to death up until the sequel comes out, right? So why wasn't AKI used to make this game? Wouldn't have made sense to bring in the already made game engine, plop on the next-generation graphics, add some more match types, add some more situational moves, expand on the CAW, expand on the well done storyline mode from the previous game, expand the number of wrestlers in the ring at the same time (which in turn creates more game modes), up the production value, and address any request your LOYAL wrestling game fans have been clamoring for. But what do I know, I don't work for THQ, I don't look at the THQ wrestling fans money paying idiots that will buy anything with a WWE logo on it, I don't release a game for the sake of captilizing on a license, I don't crush the hopes of the millions of people who bought the last *good* game they made buy ignoring or requests.
Gameplay: One match in this game had me convinced that I no longer wanted to buy a THQ WWE game before I rent it first. The matches flow really unevenly. Most matches consist of just throwing a flurry of attacks until the cpu reverses on then try a front or back grapple. Also for some reason Yukes decided to only allow 5 front grapples and 5 back grapples not including the specials. For those who you who don't have a problem with this then have fun watching Stone Cold rake the eyes, knee the stomach, spine buster, body slam, and shoulder smash twice, and then go for the pin and realize that all those moves were only good for a 1 count and do it all over again. Talk about deep gameplay!! Then if you get bored with that throw someone into the turnbuckles and do 2 moves available for that, and 5 for the back grapple. Watch in amazement as every match you have starts to look like the one you just had!! And then get angry as you go for the pedigree on Kurt Angle and RVD stomps Edge who is right near you and for some reason the pedigree is broken up and you lose that special! Have fun going through all those grapples for the next hours getting another special!
Sound like fun yet? Well try to pick up a weapon when your near the ring ropes, guess what instead of picking up the weapon you just exited the ring! and whats even better is that now your opponent has the weapon because you wasted time getting the weapon! Still want some more fun? Then why not try out the path of the Champions and if you chose HHH then you could even maybe Main Event Wrestlemania X-8 against Scotty Too Hotty in an exhibition match which could lead for a hardcore championship title match on Smackdown, good thing that match is not a hardcore match or it might make sense even to someone with a B/A of.2. Now thats what I call a career mode, not, this is just plain insulting.
Still want more, then realize that this game is a complete joke and waste of my and eveyone elses money who bought it on the notion that it was the real successor to No Mercy.
I think if the WWE wants to be treated like a sport and entertainment then why can't THQ realize this and entertain its fans with a quality WWE game. If you wanna throw away a highly respected game engine that with some tweaks and additions could only have gotten even more respected, then go ahead. Let me ask you this THQ, do you think John Madden football would be the #1 selling football game on the planet for soooo long by jerking the fans around and changing the game engine right when it was starting to get good? Shouldn't a next generation title feel deeper in terms of gameplay like most sport game sequels do from system to system?
All I want from THQ is a an apology in the terms of the real sequel to No Mercy and stop filling us full of lies about how good its gonna be and let the game itself be as good as it could be and shut us disgruntled fans up ( and by the way I'm sure a lot of fans share my opinion).
Also since when is it that a next generation game cannot include an updated and complete roster is beyond me. Now if World Series baseball can include almost 650+ players in it I don't think it's too much to ask for a complete roster of 50+ wrestlers, and most important ones too. It boggles the mind.
Graphics: I can't complain about much in terms of graphics. The texturing and the wrestling models look like I would have imagined for a sequel to No Mercy, a more cartoonish look. But the awkard animations for some of the moves, the unrealistic jerky move transitions (WWF RAW had it right), and how some wrestlers just don't look right (Jeff Hardy is a wrestler but not all wrestlers have big muscles, just watch a WWE show). Besides that I wouldn't hold the graphics against the game at all.
Sound: Weird sounding crowd noises, mediocre Menu and gameplay background music, Some licensed WWE themes (Trish Stratus, Hardy Boys, Booker T, Ric Flair) for some reason didn't make it in so what we the fans get is really bad replacment music instead of the real thing (another insulting fact about this game). If its gets bad turn the music off and by music I mean background and crowd noise and see how much fun this game is.
So if you need your wrestling fix break out the N64 and No Mercy and forget about what could have been, and remember to rent before you buy.
Recommended strictly as a rental or 2 but not a buy.

Hmm, quite bad reviews for the game, and that's fine because all the points made were fair criticisms, except obviously the roster which cannot ever be perfect.
It's not exactly what we were looking for, many of the finer parts of N64 Wrestling such as detailed CAW, millions of moves, even the Smackdown Mall, just not there... puzzling. The most annoying part of the game I find is the AI, and in particular during Triple Threat matches. It can take forever to finish matches like Table matches due to the computer's persistence in attacking the human character instead of actually winning the match. We should remember that handicap matches are NOT included in Wrestlemania X8. This is only really a problem here as in Fatal Fourway matches the computer always has the extra man to attack, rather than you.
Although there are improvements, NOT the ridiculous "One blow destroys all" system of wrecking grapple moves. Improvements like
-Reversal of finisher
-Playable Cage and Ladder matches, forever destroying the old "smash the green button and pray" mode of N64
-More 2 Player modes such as Unification
-Sound, hey it's better than the N64 cartridge distorted effect.
-The graphics give a lot of realism, like the crowd.
But, like I said, it's not what we wanted. We wanted the same features of the WCW/nWo/WWF games added with even more depth and detail, we didn't get it, but it's not a bad game by any means and will suit any new WWE fan.

I loved this gave it was simple to start and get to know and still can be mastered. the create a superstar may be different than expected bu does get the job done and to a good standard (despite there being no long sleeved tops). the gameplay is fast and smooth and the different superstars have diffeent attributes such as the big show is strong but with a low endurance and tajiri is fast but weaker than others. This game has a huge amount of match types and the hell in a cell has 4 available slam through points whereas the games such as smackdown had only 1! this game was different but great I do not seem the big problem

I gotta admit, the game was cool, but they could have done a better job on it. I mean No Mercy was better than this (well with the quality of superstars and intros), but Wrestlemania X8 has good graphics.I mean theres only what, 36 stars and you can win like 6 stars, when on No Mercy you can win like 20,and there are already like 50!They could probably made the storymode more like Smackdown: Just Bring it, or atleast No Mercy. Come on, there are no promos, no backstage interviews, there is even no sneak attacks!I sure hope the next game is better!I still like the game though. I mean atleast it has more realistic arenas and movements. Make no mistake about it, the game does have better stars. Though, how come some intros are differant, like nWo, Booker T, Team Xtreme, and Trish Stratus?I like the game over all, I gave it a 9.

Alright, the graphics are good. The wrestlers kind of look real. The music isn't bad except for the bad version of 'Live For The Moment' by Monster Magnet for the Hardyz. The rest of the music wasn't bad. But the CAW was pathetic. WWF Attitude had better and more detailed modes. The story line (Which is the only reason I buy wrestling games)is not even there. They should have done some sort of mix of Smackdown and No Mercy. Some other lame things were: No stables, Small Roster, 4 wrestler limit in ring, and the royal rumble mode where it is almost impossible to eliminate someone. I am just going to sit back and wait for a newer one to come out and prey that the put some sort of effort into it.

Wrestlemania X8 is a decent game, and I sure did have a lot of fun with it. First of all, you can easily move from/block grab holds, and punching and kicking techniques. What I'm waiting for now is Gamecube's newest WWE title, called WWE Crush Hour, I read the reviews and it seemed pretty nice. Wrestlemania X8 is for hardcore wrestling gamers, and nothing more. The graphics are nice, and there's just a lot to do, graphics alone doesn't make a game a good game. WWF No Mercy was better than Wrestlemania X8, there was a good creating mode, and a storyline. Most of the time it took me an hour just to create someone on No Mercy!!

It was ok but then after you play it for a long it's crap coz there's no proper story mode like in shut your mouth or there ain't that many wrestlers,the music was crap there's no commentary not that not fun as playing after you you do compelte the crap story mode and unlock everyone, shut your mouth, but it's was better than all the other wrestling games that came out on nintendo the origanality was great but it's definitely worth £40 it was better than raw and crap compared to shut your mouth

This games story line is exactly the same in every belt ecept for the wrestlers triple threats SUCK! and they do not have any of the cool superstars as in Smackdown. You cannot create stables or have mask for your created people. There are only a few arenas and fighting is like in legends of wrestling. The people who created this game SCREWED UP BAD! please don't make another.

I think that the game needed a lot of work because like other wrestling games(smack down)the is a lot of other things you can do. the path of a champion mode sucks real bad. and every one always seem to want to kick your < remove me > at #$ what kind of triple threat match is that. you cant even wear your championship belt when in your entrance. But it those give you a challenge the graphics are okay. do better when i get x9.It didn't even have the right music jeff hardy has some gay rocknroll stuff.I did like the battle for the belts mode gave me and my friends something to look forward to.

the entrences are all messed up
and people can pick up a ladder while you are still on it
I expected much more
But you get what you pay for
The grappling system is awful

This game was cool to me. number 1 the graphic are like the best graphics i've seen in a long time. The music is cool but they mest up on the nWo music. I gave it a 9 because the game had no story mode. Plus they have no masks in create a wrestler mode!!
