Brilliant Re-vamp of the original |
| john from Chester City Uk England says (16/Nov/2002): |
Where to start, This Re-vamp of Resident Evil is totally amazing from scary zombies too nasty pooches with big teeth. I was amazed to see how much detail is added to the scenery and the fmv's there just mind blowing. Theres new characters to this edition like new zombies that run at you and the only way to kill them is to burn them with kerosine. There is also a few diffrent types of zombies which i thinks good instead of having one or 2 types of the same zombie it keeps us intrested. There are some pretty nasty monsters in this game from re-vamped hunters, killer plants, crows and mutated spiders I won't give to much away for those who have'nt played it because it will spoil it but lets just say you would'nt want to meet any off them down a dark alley unless you were equiped with a pump action shot gun or even better a grenade launcher. Also there are some good defense weapons like daggers so when a zombie tries to snack down on you're neck you can ram a dagger in his eye which renders him useless for a couple of seconds so you can take aim with shotgun and pow you performed a magic trick you've made his head dissapear which is pretty gruesome. Difficulty wise its not to hard but sometimes if you dont save alot and you die it could leave you having to backtrack through a section you already had done half an hour previously. Some of the annoying things from the original have gone like the little sequences of going up and down stairs they've gone. What the Producers forgot to take out was the door sequences that can get a bit annoying because there's so many doors.Sound wise the game has got really spooky sounds witch adds to the atmosphere of the rest of the game. This game is definitely worth every single pound but it is still after all a re-vamp of the original and nothing beats an original. So for anybody who has played the first one on the Ps1 you might prefer the original and for those who have not played the new version play it and enjoy it.

I have already done a review of this game and i would like say some thing about it as i have now completed it. The first review i was only at 1/2 way point. The first thing i would like to mention is why is the last boss the easyest of them all. It took me maybe 2 mins to take the tyrant out. This did not let the game down as i was happy to have finnished the game after 4 hours solid on it. The graphics just dont get any better than this. Jill/chris look almost real and the zombies look scary. They are more intelligent than the last RE. When they die they come back known has a crimson head. They are then harder, faster and kill you in about 3 hits. The storyline has changed in some places but not a lot. The mansion has completely changed for the better has it is now darker and spooky. The pussels are still there and there are more zombies than ever now. There are more spicies of zombie like The hunters, crimson head-elder and other mutated freeks. The guns are amazingly detailed and the new idea of having defence daggers and other equipment is great meaning there is less chance of becomeing one of them ( dead ). The locations outside of the mansion have changed a lot with garden snakes all over and the water when you run through it it splashes and reflections of you can be seen. Its just the little things that add to the realism. Its not just an old game trown on to a new console. Its a new game altogether. Lie it says on the back of the box.............PURE TERROR CUBED

| Chris from United Kingdom says (8/Nov/2002): |
As you might have read off another review you can get the 45. gun if you complete the gamer in under 5 hours lol pathtic punny pistol is good for a while but no were as near as good as a rocket luancher with infinate ammo simple complete the game in under 3 hours. The word simple makes it sound easy it not its near impossible for this game is incredible hard in all ways crimsen heads are especiely annoying dont burn a zombie it turns into one of these little cretures and leave them longer while there hunting you down they will slowly comletely evolve theres a lvl 1 (when they first get back up) a lvl(starts looking messie and is faster than you) lvl 3 (treat this ass a boss and a hard one at that it can jump a mile and chase you down like a bat out of hell once a crimsen gets to lvl 3 it will find you almost instantely becouse of its pure speed. Resident evil is simple not a cheep rip of the crismsen heads show this its MUCH harder and more challeging than people give it credit for. Theres also lots of sick humer twisted into the story in the notes for instance 'pete came to visit, pete friend, nice face, tasty' oh and i like the fact wesker has lost 40 pounds since the res evil for PS and is now cool shame you cant play as him as it would make the game a whole lot of fun.

Scary as heck and still great fun! |
| Rich from Riverside RI USA says (8/Aug/2003): |
The new resident evil is far superior to the original one that was for the playstation. The extra mansion rooms give new life to a older title and make it even more challenging. I really liked the new monsters, especially the crimson heads. They
give the player a extra challenge to contend with. I also like the enormous great white shark boss. However, the part didn't like was the booby trap rooms that can kill you instantly. That can be a bit annoying. That is why I can't give it five stars, but I do reccomend the game entirely. The scare factor is the greatest feature. You will be jumping at shadows! The graphics are flawless. I love almost all of the Resident evil games, but this one does stand out despite the booby traps
that can frustration to a first time player. Don't hesitate to buy this one. Some of the puzzles in this game can be downright difficult for people, But with practice, you will be able to solve them in record time. The best suprise is the daggars and
the flash grenades. It helps you fight off a hunter and dog a lot easier. The graphics at the end where the hellicopter flies off are gorgeous. It can make you come back and play it over and over!

The best horror game ever to hit any system |
| Austin Kramb from Phoenix says (6/Apr/2002): |
First off, Resident Evil is the most respected and played horror game in the world. The graphics are beautiful! (trust me) The sound won't be hot shot car racing or something but it won't be stupide like toy story or something. Blowing up zombies is just absolutely fun and fighting different kinds of monsters and solving puzzles just keeps you wanting for more. Tons of weapons ranging from a simple knife to the powerful Desert Eagle. Im not even going to bother renting this game because I've already got a hold on it at FuncoLand on the 30th of April. If I were you rent the game without thinking and start playing it, it'll be incredibly hard to tell the difference if this game is real life or not. If you need to know anything about Resident Evil im your man. Don't hesitate asking me because when I hear or see the words "Resident Evil" im already clicking on the site or talking with the people.

Hints |
| Michael Nichols from USA says (30/Apr/2002): |
Hay once again you entered the world of horror, I have already beaten this great game and would tell you if you want whats in store after you complete the game. First if you beat the game under 5 hours you can get the .45 handgun with unlimited ammo. You might of seen the long gun chris has in some pictures. And there is also another gun thats like a anti-tank rifle. It kills monsters great!!! If you complete the game once there is a mode called eigher invisiable monsters or Enemy 0 mode. This mode is extremely hard and easy, there is no auto aim mode and it is bull $#< remove me > at ! when the hunters can kill you faster and you cant see what yuor shooting at. And as I said in my previous entry I said there is a Crimsion Head Zombie mode were if you kill a zombie without blowing there heads off or burning them they come to chase you and when they trap you its basically over.

Resident Evil Gamecube |
| Andrew from St. Louis, Missouri says (19/Aug/2002): |
Ok, I borrowed my friends GameCube to play this one, ive played every Resident Evil so far and wanted to see if there was more than just sweet graphics to this one. What kind of sux is that all they did was copy half of Resident Evil 1 from Playstation to use as a start, but they added a lot of cool things but it isnt very challenging, such as Resident Evil 3s "Nemesis", theres only like 2 easy bosses through the 1st half of the game. Graphics are almost real, new ways of beating zombies is great, kill them once they come back stronger, you must burn them, Defensive weapons are like Resident Evil 3s "Dodge Feature". Some puzzles in this one are way to easy, u just move things around a little bit, others are somewhat challenging but nothing is close to hard. Start off with Chris if you want the challenge.

Scary, Beautiful and Relentless |
| Sean McCabe from Dundee, Scotland says (11/Feb/2003): |
I'm walking through a corridor. I expect dogs to jump through the window. Nothing happens. I make it through the next door. I then go through the nearest door in the next corridor and enter the bathroom. The bath is filled with murky water. What should I do? A question you'll be asking many a time whilst trying to get out of Capcom's house of horrors. Can you make it? Or will you be claimed by the Resident Evil. Damn, I should do Capcom's press releases. Anyway, this is an amazing game, and the only one that is all three of those adjectives I have used to describe it. Of course, I have yet to play Eternal Darkness or RE0, but for the moment this is the greatest horror themed game in existence. By the way, I drool at the prospect of playing Resident Evil 4.

the only good GC game i have played |
| James Cook from Edgerton, OH says (15/Oct/2002): |
i think resident evil for the game cube is just....to cool! the game is probably the best of its gendra. the very very first one...(the one on PSX) was the best game ever made for PSX. i also think this resident evil is the best game on the game cube. matter of fact it is probably the only good game on the game cube. i have beat this game before, but i never beat it in 5 hours, im in the mits of doing that right now. im stcuk on the part where u have to get password for the b2 rooms, i just dont know it!!!, and i would like it a lot if some one could help me, i know i know i should know this, but i havent played this game sence it first came out.....so hellppp!!....but all in all this game is just too!!! GOOD for the game cube....but thats just me!

pee pee time! |
| VICTORay Vercetti from Dallas, TX U.S. of A says (12/Jul/2003): |
does anyone else out there remember the first time those dogs broke through the mansion windows(on playstation)... it's certainly strange how that same feeling is brought to new heights through this insanely updated resident evil. it's great to know that you have new enhancements(such as the defensive items), but it will take a lot more than that to survive this one. the combat still remains untouched(except for the quick 180-turn found in resident evil 3 and code veronica). Enemies must be burned after being soaked in gasoline in order to avoid fighting a crimson head-you'll know what i'm talking about when you don't burn those bodies! all in all, a retardedly great time- that is best spent sporting adult diapers!

ULTRA |
| Michael Nichols from New Jersey, USA says (25/Apr/2002): |
This is the best game ever made and the best graphics I ever seen including CG movies. I have been a Resident Evil fan sence Aug 21 1996 and im right now 15 years old. If you like great graphics, blood, gore, cool character and monsters, and a whole lot of challanges buy resident evil. I beat the game in a week and I thought it was hard with the crimsion head zombie mode. Hint: burn the zombies or blow thier dam heads off cause in the mode the zombies will get back up if you dont kill them without burning them or decapation and they will hunt you down and kill you fast!! REMEMBER DONT OPEN THAT DOOR! THEY WILL FOR YOU!! Its in your blood, resident evil.

| Michael V. from colorado springs, usa says (10/Aug/2002): |
Now when i first seen the game on t.v man evern the preview scared the crap out of me. Now I've played all of the resident evil games that have come out so far and I think this is by far the best one yet it's not the graphs that will scary but the sound as well. I was so hook on the game at my friends house that I bought the game cube just for the resident evil game.the only bad part about the game is u can run out of ammo fast cuz the zombies are so hard to kill u ethier have to blow off the heads or flame there butt.If u want a scary intence game get resident evil for the game cube and I can't wait for resident evil 0....

110% Better Than The Original! |
| Sean Evans from United Kingdom says (26/May/2003): |
Well Resident evil fans have not been dissapointed with this revamp of the less than evil version on the playstation one. When I first glimpsed at the cover I was horrified at this how could gamecube get this and not playstation two? I had 300 Pounds of cash in my pocket. So with much hesitation I bought a gamecube! And I was thrilled to see the graphics enhansed like it was a miricle. I did not get a ps2! Good! Soon followed an even better game Resident evil zero.

Great remake |
| scott from Richmond, Usa says (15/Dec/2002): |
i purchased this game a while back and was amazed. The graphics are great and the enimies and bosses are spectacular. The audio aspect of the game is fenominal. I highly suggest you pick up this game. It is undoubtedly the best survival horror game on the market. It is a bit hard at times and can become frustrating if you do not follow a walkthrough. Resident evil 0 is out now and is better than the remake so pick it up first.

Simply the best game ever. |
| MunkY from England says (12/Apr/2003): |
The graphics in RE1 are amazing. The lights are reel time making you feel your there. The zombies are faster, quicker and harder to beat. There are more species of undead in this version. The game lasts 4x as much as the last game giving you hours of gameplay. I garentee that this game will have you looking behind your back every second. The plot is the best i have seen in a game. Possibly the best game out there.

As A gamer, i've never been more surprized with a video game. |
| Neil Blastworthy from hell michigan usa says (30/Apr/2003): |
I have played all of the Resident Evil games in the series, and to be totally honest, excluding Resident Evil 0, this is the most impressive video game i've ever played! Resident Evil (gamecube), in a nut shell, took Resident Evil (sony playstation) to the 23rd century, a feat that is seldom acomplished in sequels, so far... I have yet to be more impressed in a video game!

I got the Gamecube just for this game!! |
| Stephanie from Sac. California says (27/Jun/2002): |
I Love RE. It is soo cool! And scary I have to stop every once in a while to catch my breath! The puzzles are pretty easy and the graphics are breathtaking! The shadows really mess w/ my head. there were a few mistakes like jill had long hair in the original RE for ps1 and chris looks soo different from the cover of code veronica. But other than that it's great!

I Got My Gamecube Just For THIS |
| Fred from Kansas City, KS says (5/Jan/2003): |
I only bought a GameCube for the simple fact of having Resident Evil. I love the graphics and the new scenes. This game still scares me when I play it cause you never know whats going to come at you. The only thing I dont like is how Jill will fall after seeing a zombie. Other than that, it's a great game

Lights |
| A gamer from Missouri, USA says (8/Jul/2003): |
This game is alot better than the origional, and im not just saying that because i am a Nintindo fan, and resent Sony. One of the Things i love most is how the swinging chadalers cast eerie shadows, which also move with the swinging of the light, and how the lighting casts shadows when it strikes.
