THIS GAME IS REALY REALY COOL!!! |
| A gamer from Cobden/IL./U.S says (4/Sep/2004): |
This is the best game I've ever played. There's perfect music, characters, gameplay, graphics, and sounds, what else could you ask for. I haven't beat the game and I think it will be a very fun game for all ages. My things that I like about this game is the yoshis, the sound that you hear when you get a shine sprite, the upgrade turbodrive, and baby bowser (in disguise as Mario) Oh and on petey pirahna strikes back use the things that go to your jet or whatever and shoot the water when there on it and aim at petey pirahna. Then you have to chase and go on top of a building and spray petey pirahna a couple of times then he'll fall on the ground then spray him and repeat this acouple of times and when dies get the shin sprite and there you have it ok.

COOL START, BAD ENDING |
| Sebastian A from lambsburg says (26/Nov/2004): |
ok all mario fans probably hate me now but i gave this game a 5 because i loved the beggining where i used flood to clean up the scum left by baby boweser (the mystery mario) it was very enjoyable with good graphics. i would spend hours in frount of the TV playing this game but once i got all the goop cleaned up i found the other missions useless. Dont take this the wrong way but what does popping ballons on a run-away roller coster (the last mission on the carnaville island level) have to do with communty servace or trying to prove marios innacent. Long story short i think it was a great game and it was well worth my 60 bucks to buy it. But Nintendo next time slow down and take time on the ending.

typical mario game but still decent |
| spooneryhaven from nashville, TN, USA says (29/May/2003): |
This game is alot like the first. You have the jumping italian plummer, a damsel in distress, and of course bowser. To Mario 64 i will give a 9, to this game I will give a 7. The thing that lowers this game score is the weapon you use, a sort of water gun hover thing. It's cool they wanted to make this game different, but they could of thought of something else. The storyline is okay, atleast it's a little more detailed than the first. An evil shadow mario is ruining the lovely isle delfino. That's a summary. The graphics in this game are pretty cool, and i liked them because they were adorable. But I'm sure this only appeals to girl players. Overall this is an entertaining game, with the oh so classic mario plot that lives up to my expectations.

Its ok, but i suck at it. |
| jason from colchester area says (6/Jan/2003): |
I only got 18 shines, and cant get anymore. im stuck on level five of bianco hills, level three of the harbour level, and on level two of the beach level. i just dont know what to do. two hundred words is too much to say about this game. graphically excellent, sounds great, just far too tough to get going. there are 120 shines right? i need to improve. Im struggling against petey pirahna. i dont know. maybe ninty will make the next game more ewasier to get going. main problem... the camera. i bet everyone agrees. still, worth buying if you're a platformer fan, i prefer the 2D camera view of GBA mario, much better. perhaps a mash bros melee type of camera. i suppose ill get used to it, just as soon as i finish playing THPS4. now that game rocks.

one of the best games ever |
| steven from canada says (30/Mar/2003): |
super mario sunshine is a very fun but challenging game.I love the graphics, they are the best! There are some things I like about this game and some things i can't stand. Some things I like are the F.L.U.D. This is an interesting device that comes in very useful and most of the time you depend on it,the yosie is cool i like how he eats the friut,I like moves/jumps that mario does,I like the tropicle music, and I like the entrences to levels. some things i can't stand are when your in levels some times the views are rediculus you can't see what your doing another thing is that some levels are extremely hard to beat and almost impossible to beat without a walkthrough.I gave this game an 8 for those reasons and I totaly recamend this game!

big letdown |
| Kevin Olmsted from El Paso USA says (7/Oct/2003): |
I was a HUGE fan of Mario64. I still think it is one of the top 10 games of all time. It was a huge landmark in gaming. Mario64 was brilliant in its simplicity. The controls were perfect and intuitive. The graphics were beautiful. Mario Sunshine was a big letdown. It is needlessly complex. Aside from texture detail I din't see any giant graphic improvement. The controls frustrated me and the camera was always going somewhere strange so I had to control it all the time. Mario64's camera was great but never in the way when you left it alone. I got this game free when I bought my Gamecube and I'm glad I didn't pay for it. I've tried many times to sit down and give this game a chance but it just frustrates me.
|
Every gamecube must have this game!!!! |
| Mike-Man from England says (6/Oct/2002): |
Who cannot like this game?? Probably someone who can't see the utter brilliance that it is. The graphics and sound are amazing, and, even when you've beaten it, you'll want to play it all again. This game is pure brilliance. I laugh at the fool who does not play this game and realise that there is nothing better. You will enjoy every minute of this game, and, even when the difficulty increases significantly, you will hardly ever feel that you are being unfairly treated. Although there are a few camera problems that I struggled with, you can rotate it freely as you please, giving you a much better view. I close by saying, if you have not got this game, you dont know what your missing.

Very good |
| 10k from Toronto, Canada says (24/Sep/2003): |
Alright. I was born in 1988, I've been playing mario since i was 2. I schooled my older cousins and family members at it. I got my gamecube in christmas 2002, and this game came with it. The game is great, the story is good, the graphics are amazing, i love how shiny mario is(I love shiny things), I had a blast beating it. it has alot of gameplay, probably around 20 hours. i only got 80 shines, but thats ok, the game was still long even when you don't collect all the shines. rifing yoshi was a turn offf, because he was so vulnerable and hard to get and there was only 1 egg of him. overall the game was good which is why it get's an 8/10

Hey! Your Very Good! |
| Christopher Alexandre from Jersey says (20/Jul/2003): |
This is one of the best games I have ever played for Nintendo Gamecube, and you proberbly think it is as well. I've managed to beaten Bowser within 2 Months of collecting Shine Sprites, however I've still got to collect the rest of the Shine Sprites which are featured in the game. However, I do have some thoughts, that Mario doesn't use the Wing Cap, the Vanish Cap and the Metal Cap which makes me a little aggressive as they were featured in Super Mario 64. In the end. This is a class game to play on, and if you like Super Mario. You'd better quickly get this game! Otherwise there is no chance of getting it when the future comes.
|
Way too short. |
| Mark from Edmonton,Alberta (Canada) says (1/Jul/2003): |
At first, I thought the idea of the game was pretty dumb, however, after a few hours of playing this game became pretty fun. After two weeks I noticed that I was already on the last level! It took me several tries but I managed to finish it. Nintendo is getting lazy to me in my opinion because they are making games have great graphics but bad gameplay. Another example of a short, very easy game is Star Fox Adventures and Agent Under Fire. People who are saying "people that don't give this game 10 stars should be shot" are complete morons because everyone has their own opinion. Sorry, if I have offended anyone.

sunshine isn't copy of luigi mansion, it's vice verca dumb@$$!!! |
| shado from patagonia, AZ. USA!!! says (2/Dec/2002): |
Mario started long before luigis mansion came out. In every mario game u always look for peach. the game always happens in one basic place (sunshine and mansion being a couple examples). It's the simple idea of heroics and action (not much action but it's some). Luigi's mansion just took that idea and changed it a bit. I mean if u think about it alot of games are like that. ur almost always on the look for someone that u need to save. I find that mario sunshine has nice, detailed graphics. it's got trippy music and takes a long time to beat (which i find a good thing. games that are easy to beat get boring fast).

The plumber man is back and ready to kick some ass! |
| Isaiah Raheem from NewYork,USA says (4/Feb/2003): |
I thought this game was great. They should make another one but with Luigi and Mario playing at the same time. They should mix Luigi"s Mansion & Mario Sunshine into one game. They shouldnt take turns like the Super Nintendo Mario. They have to play at the same time. Yoshi must be able to swim in the water. This game has to have hot graphics. Bowser's son can come back and have revenge for his father. Mario & Luigi can both ride their own Yoshi. The game must be two players, Mario and Luigi. Mario has his pump. Luigi has his vacume. I hope this game version comes out. IT WILL BE SOOOOO! HOT!

THIS GAME ROCKS!!! |
| Crimson from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia says (23/Dec/2002): |
I love this game. It is so challenging for a person like me who has never played Mario 64 but so fun simultaneously. Anyone who says that this game sucks should look a bit closer, just because Yoshi isn't as versatile as he should be and Mario looks better in Super Smash Brothers Melee means nothing. You should never judge a game by the graphics or the name but by the gameplay and plots. Sunshine is fun, frustrating (like all good games should be) and has a quality that many don't - you can stuff around and do what ever you want in the levels and with Fludd.
|
The most boring game ever |
| MuNkY from England says (27/Apr/2003): |
I will be honest with you and i wont say the graphics are crap because they are the only decent thing about the game. The idea of squirting water at paint is rubbish. Collecting sun sprites is just the worst idea and you can never get them all when you have finnished. At some points in the game you dont even know what to do next so you spend your time walking round levels foe hours working out what to do. Mario has really gone out of fashion this time and hopefully will stay away. The Worst game on the gamecube. Lets bring a SEQUAL out for luigis mansion.
|
I couldn't agree more with the last two reviews...1/10. |
| Matt J from Melbourne, VIC, Australia says (27/Nov/2003): |
I know many GameCube owners think Mario is the one and only God butintruth he is the opposite. O.K, some Mario games are good but this one sucks. I hadrespect for Nintendo when they brought out the 64 but the GameCube sucks. Now, back to Mario Sunshine. It is a derivative, childish and boring game. I just fail to see what is so good about it! Jumping around on things and killing colourful monsters. Yay. I generally don't write negative reviews but this is anexeption. Overall 1/10 (I would give it zero but the lowest you can give is 1).

Yoshi and FLUDD RULE! |
| Anastasiya F. Yoshi from New York says (7/Nov/2003): |
This the the greatest mario game EVER. I cant stop playing. Im playing it RIGHT NOW! Yoshi is the best- he has the most glitches in the game. My NAME even has Yoshi in it!!! I love glitches. I beat the game with all 120 shine sprites and now all im looking for is glitches. FLUDD rules- Once I used the rocket nozzel and pressed B- my head got stuck in the sand of Gelato Beach. This game has me laughing out loud. Even if one of the glitches destroys my game, I still wont care because im a mechanic genius who can do anything- I LOVE THIS GAME!
|
This game sucks for many reasons. |
| Osh Kosh from Tennesee says (20/Sep/2002): |
One of them is uniorginality. Its just like another Mario 64 with better graphics and a water pack. He cant really do any cool new moves. The bosses look really stupid, too and its hard to control that stupid water pack. There are some glitchs in this game like you can fall through a wall in the first level and then the damn game freezes and you cant save at that point. ARRRR! I really, really hate the graphics. Lugi's Mansion had way better graphics are the bosses we're way cooler. I still prefer Lugis Mansion over Mario Sunshine anyday.

Wooo Hooo! |
| Vash the Stampede from McRae, Georgia says (25/Sep/2002): |
I just got S.M.S. but I really like it! Every once in a while I have noticed a couple glitches, but the graphice and the gameplay rock! One thing I've found, however, is that it can get a little boring when you keep getting knocked off a high platform after you're about to get the Sprite (like in Noki Bay, if you stand too close to the cork when it comes out, you get knicked across the whole bay and have to get out of the water, through the sludge and back to the sprite) Email me at: vash__the__stampede< remove me > at trigun.org if you wanna chat ^___^

People come on |
| code name 555 from Las Angeles, California, USA says (7/Feb/2003): |
I must admeat this was a long, complcated game. I mean with flood and all. Personaly I think the game would be more interesting of Mario didn't have Fludd. Anyway the game was fun, and exiting, new adventures, and a few new enemies. The only flaw i have to say was, HELLO PEOPLE WHO DO YOU THINK IS THE FINALY BOSS, ISN'T IT PREDICTABLE. The game would get a 20 if Bowser wasn't the boss, and someone even further. Over all i have to say two things. Good job Mr. Mario. Gamers beware, Mario is in trouble and he needs your help.
|
Best there is. But we want more. |
| Neil from Sunnyvale, California, USA says (17/Jun/2003): |
It's great. New weapons, attacks, and tricks. You get a FLUDD(Flash Liquadator Ultra Dousing Device). It's a whole new Mario. Colors I may say are pretty catch and fun to watch but the real deal is the puzzles. On this game you need to use your head. That's what makes it fun. I must say it comes with a side effect.
After about 30-70 Shine Sprites, you'll stop finding new levels. All we want is PROGRESS.That is why I docked of 1 point. 120 Shine Sprites are good but the number of levels leave much to be desired for. See ya.
