short but fun |
| vanessa from north vancouver, B.C. says (21/Feb/2003): |
Mario Sunshine did not take long to beet for meand was fairly easy. I think there should be more shines to get and more twists and hidden secrets. Like when you think you finished the game something else should happen. You should have to fight the boss more and their should be more or different boses then just bowser. I liked the story line having baby bowser in it, too bad mario didnt get too fight him though. The game was still fun and I enjoyed playing it, but i didnt think the graphics were too great. They were alright but bowser could of been better. The levels were fun but pretty easy. Also they should of made more cheats or codes. I dont think there were many glitches which is good. There should have been more characters like Luigi or Waluigi in it. Yoshi should have been able to swim and be more involved in the game too. I liked the music through out the game and the sound effects.

Yoshi rules the game!! |
| Tasha from Canada says (21/Feb/2003): |
I love yoshi and this game was great I have 32 shine sprites but I think that yoshi should be able to come in all colours, have siblings and swim! They should make a game with mario and liugi and have them go on some yoshi quest to find all yoshi colours and they should have lil stables kinda like final fantasy! Hey they should mix Mario, Yoshis, Luigi etc.. with final fantasy oh yeah now thats what I give an imaginary rate of 50! I love that Yoshi! hey what about a half chocobo half yoshi hmmmmm sounds WACKY! I mean sure it is good but there should be other islands like the one shaped like a crab could be like lets say uh? crab island? Now there would be more levels more islands and new characters like make a character that is a dragon and there would be a lot of dragons who love eating yoshis and they have to defeat all the dragons but there would be one just one dragon called mini mark and he loves yoshis!

FLUDD rocks! |
| Shraddha from Greenwood, Indiana u.s.a. says (9/Mar/2003): |
I think FLUDD is gonna do great throughout the game. After all, you can't get a star without FLUDD you know. Tell u, I think the turbo nozzle's gonna be cool! I think that 'cause u can break through doors. Rocket nozzle, I'll give that a 8 out if 10. I wouldn't know about both the rocket and the turbo nozzle because I only have 19 shine sprites. And I don't have a Yoshi.

The music is SOUNDTRACK WORTHY!! |
| Paris from USA says (29/Apr/2003): |
I could listen to the music in the game alone for hours!!! Not to mention that this is the best game I've ever played since Final Fantasy X. THIS GAME ROCKS! The graphics are simply beautiful. This game also contains the most imaginative Super Mario plot since Marioparty 3! This game is VERY addictive. My only problems with this game are as follows: #1: The voiceovers are terrible. Peach sounds like a chipmunk, and what's with the toads' voices??!!!?? They sound like they need to cough very badly. #2(Here's what REALLY kills me...} It's 2003, and Mario STILL doesn't talk!! He's also sounds suspiciously feminine.... #3: The game is incredibly long, and it sometimes becomes tedious. It does have a lot of features though. #4: Peach still can't seem to get through a single game without being kidnapped by Bowser or a relative of Bowser's. #5: WHERE IN THE WORLD IS LUIGI??? He's my favorite character! Despite these little setbacks, this game is worth the time and effort. Lots of new characters provide for some comic relief and discovery. For instance, I think the addition of a "right-hand man {Toadsworth}"
was a good idea. There are more little Toads, too. They provide the 'cuteness' factor. I like the new 'people' {the Pianta people and the Noki people} and the feature of being able to converse with them. Old characters get more exposure. Yoshi makes some appearances sporting new abilities such as the triple-jump and juice squirting. The only problem is that you have to get a certain fruit to lure him out of his egg in the first place. FLUDD is an awesome character. Overall, this game is great and original.

This is my favorite game. |
| Lindsay from St. Paul, MN, USA says (1/May/2003): |
I thought it was the best game ever except I only got 109 shine sprites. I thought the game seemed difficult because it is too hard to collect blue coins to get shine sprites. I wish that Mario would talk more in the game and interact with the Piantas. The one thing that bugs me is that I read that nothing really happens at the end. I would rather see Yoshi be green instead of pink, purple and orange. It would be better if you could have all the nozzles at the same time because it would be easier to get around. I wish that the Piantas would find out that Baby Bowser made the graffiti and that he would go to jail to be punished. The graphics were really really good--the water looked real and the Piantas were so cute. The sounds sounded really real, like they were really happening. My favorite sound was when Mario was walking on the sidewalk - it sounded just like footsteps. My favorite part of the game is when Fludd was about to break, the toads fixed him. I wish that the end of the game would be like the beginning of the game where the people weren't mad and there wouldn't be any goop around and it was sunny out.

One word..... Wow |
| Kylie from USA says (12/Jun/2003): |
This is a very snazzy game. The graphics rule all. It really shows the game cubes power. It's happy, so if you like a more depressed mood, you might not like it as much as I do. The levels are creative, the characters are cute, and the sound is wonderful. The only things I have wrong with it are that Bowser is the boss AS USUAL, there's no Luigi, and the camera is the most annoying thing to ever be created (other than furbies). Even with those problems the sheer coolness of the came eclipses its faults. ^_^

Mario Comes Back...And Even Better Then Ever |
| Anthony Filipas from Oregon, USA says (18/Jun/2003): |
Mario Sunshine is a great game. Graphics r the bomb. Great sound and brings back the old Mario song we love. Its about stoping the evil Bowzer from covering Isle Delfino from graffiti. And this is the all time game. This game gets a 9. This game is a must buy, and shows that Mario is still coming back with cool games 4 the Nintendo Gamecube.

***The BEST "Super Mario" Game since "Paper Mario and Super Mario 64" |
| Ricardo Rose from Toronto, Ontario says (23/Jun/2003): |
Super Mario Sunshine is one of the best games I have rated. I liked this game for many different reasons and I find that others find these reasons quite similar to their opinions.Firstly, the graphics in this game are amazingly great. The water shimmers in the sunlight (Trust me the water looks so realistic), The sky also looks quite realistic too. Even though the idea of "Shine Sprites" may be a little childish for those who play action/adventure games, this game is among the best in my opinion.Although, Super Mario Sunshine looks easy as many may think, Its actually not that predictable.A lot of saving people and cleaning up is crutial in this game. (The game is basically based upon saving and cleaning up any way).I also like the adventure part of the game as well as the new moves that Mario has. (I alsmost forgot,You can control Yoshi like in the other Mario Games). In conclusion, I would like to state once more that Super Mario Sunshine is the best Mario Game so far. Hopefully, another Mario game will come out in the future. A bigger and better one too.

This is the Best Mario game of all time |
| Shuffle Aliance from N.C. Maryland says (24/Jun/2003): |
THis game is awsome, anyone who gives it less than a 10 is a moron who shud Be shot. It really brings out the Gamecubes Capibilites. The graphics are awsome, the game play is solid, the story line cant be beat, and the Sound is the best i've ever heard in a mario game.To wrap it up THis game is a good reason to trade in your X-box and buy a GameCube.

Way too short. |
| Mark from Edmonton,Alberta (Canada) says (1/Jul/2003): |
At first, I thought the idea of the game was pretty dumb, however, after a few hours of playing this game became pretty fun. After two weeks I noticed that I was already on the last level! It took me several tries but I managed to finish it. Nintendo is getting lazy to me in my opinion because they are making games have great graphics but bad gameplay. Another example of a short, very easy game is Star Fox Adventures and Agent Under Fire. People who are saying "people that don't give this game 10 stars should be shot" are complete morons because everyone has their own opinion. Sorry, if I have offended anyone.

Super Mario is better than the best! |
| Killer_JO from Calgary says (5/Jul/2003): |
This game is like so awesome! There are hard levels and easy levels and it can take a loooooooooooooong time to beat also. I gave it an 8 'cause it is frickin hard! But anyway the game is great, graphics are also awesome and its full of suspence and fun. sUpEr MaRiO sUnShInE rulez!

Nintendo go sit in the corner! |
| Luis. C from United Kingdom Essex says (10/Jul/2003): |
Super Mario Sunshine was one of the most highly anticipated titles due to arrive on the Gamecube console, The game's aim is to collect Shine sprites "I call them stars" anyway An evil villain in the image of Mario has been causing all kinds of problems on Isle Delfino and has caused the Shine sprites to disapear from there gathering spot at the Shine gate.
Mario has been given the job to clear the intire island and restore Vitality by collecting the Shine sprites along the way.
Mario equips himself with a Water jet apparatus in doing so he uses it to wash away the icky goop. For the few first hours of gameplay i found it quite enjoyable and the graphics seemed great, later however it did start to feel a little childish and very short. The collecting of stars did not have the same effect/feel than its predecessor Mario 64.
Super Mario Sunshine is very short lived and shows that it has been rushed, "Nintendo slow down" (They could have made a better sequel in my view.

Hey! Your Very Good! |
| Christopher Alexandre from Jersey says (20/Jul/2003): |
This is one of the best games I have ever played for Nintendo Gamecube, and you proberbly think it is as well. I've managed to beaten Bowser within 2 Months of collecting Shine Sprites, however I've still got to collect the rest of the Shine Sprites which are featured in the game. However, I do have some thoughts, that Mario doesn't use the Wing Cap, the Vanish Cap and the Metal Cap which makes me a little aggressive as they were featured in Super Mario 64. In the end. This is a class game to play on, and if you like Super Mario. You'd better quickly get this game! Otherwise there is no chance of getting it when the future comes.

big letdown |
| Kevin Olmsted from El Paso USA says (7/Oct/2003): |
I was a HUGE fan of Mario64. I still think it is one of the top 10 games of all time. It was a huge landmark in gaming. Mario64 was brilliant in its simplicity. The controls were perfect and intuitive. The graphics were beautiful. Mario Sunshine was a big letdown. It is needlessly complex. Aside from texture detail I din't see any giant graphic improvement. The controls frustrated me and the camera was always going somewhere strange so I had to control it all the time. Mario64's camera was great but never in the way when you left it alone. I got this game free when I bought my Gamecube and I'm glad I didn't pay for it. I've tried many times to sit down and give this game a chance but it just frustrates me.
|
Big dissapointment :( :( |
| Jason Yu from England says (31/Oct/2003): |
This game was definately a big letdown because it's really fustrating if you get something like yoshi for example and you go to an island and before you reach it the yoshi falls off the boat and drowns so that you have to go all the way back and grab him again from his egg!! Worst game ever!!! >:(

I couldn't agree more with the last two reviews...1/10. |
| Matt J from Melbourne, VIC, Australia says (27/Nov/2003): |
I know many GameCube owners think Mario is the one and only God butintruth he is the opposite. O.K, some Mario games are good but this one sucks. I hadrespect for Nintendo when they brought out the 64 but the GameCube sucks. Now, back to Mario Sunshine. It is a derivative, childish and boring game. I just fail to see what is so good about it! Jumping around on things and killing colourful monsters. Yay. I generally don't write negative reviews but this is anexeption. Overall 1/10 (I would give it zero but the lowest you can give is 1).

WWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! |
| A gamer from Douglas,Ontario says (28/Feb/2004): |
This game is great!!!!!! the graphics are almost to good to be true.Surer mario 64 graphics sucked compared to this, mario is pionty in that game!!!But mario sunshine has round parts instead of square unclear shapes. the controles are easy, people that have never played vidiogames mastered the controles in 3 minuts! there are many secrets in the game so if you don't use stratagy guides it might take years.but it's not too hard ,FLUDD gives some hints so you don't get stuck on a level for too long.the sound ... there's no word for how good it is.very good ideas some are kind of strange, but good, like piantas and noki people.I don't know how they thought of yoshi regurgitating juice but anyway more about the game. there are brand new enemies and some old ones like boos, pirana plants, and bloopers.this game is super. It's even in the title. *super* mario sunshine!!!

COOL START, BAD ENDING |
| Sebastian A from lambsburg says (26/Nov/2004): |
ok all mario fans probably hate me now but i gave this game a 5 because i loved the beggining where i used flood to clean up the scum left by baby boweser (the mystery mario) it was very enjoyable with good graphics. i would spend hours in frount of the TV playing this game but once i got all the goop cleaned up i found the other missions useless. Dont take this the wrong way but what does popping ballons on a run-away roller coster (the last mission on the carnaville island level) have to do with communty servace or trying to prove marios innacent. Long story short i think it was a great game and it was well worth my 60 bucks to buy it. But Nintendo next time slow down and take time on the ending.

This game sucks for many reasons. |
| Osh Kosh from Tennesee says (20/Sep/2002): |
One of them is uniorginality. Its just like another Mario 64 with better graphics and a water pack. He cant really do any cool new moves. The bosses look really stupid, too and its hard to control that stupid water pack. There are some glitchs in this game like you can fall through a wall in the first level and then the damn game freezes and you cant save at that point. ARRRR! I really, really hate the graphics. Lugi's Mansion had way better graphics are the bosses we're way cooler. I still prefer Lugis Mansion over Mario Sunshine anyday.

Awesome, a fun filled game of comic mischief and excitement!!! |
| Jared Shubert from Stevenson Ranch, CALIFORNIA, USA says (8/Oct/2002): |
I rated the game the best score, because it is a fun game. It is filled with outstanding levels with complex graphics and fabulous colors. I have always been a fan of Mario games, but this game is just cool! It gives Mario a new adventure, but this time he has a water pack and rides on the back of his dinosaur companion Yoshi! This game is outrageous!!!
