So i was mad! Then my boyfriend bought the gamecube and animal crossing for me,because he thought it would be something like sims. It kinda is but in my opion it's 100 times better! Everyone calls me shel-bell so when i started the game i decided to use the nickname bell and all the animals were making fun of my name and i didn't know why until i found out that bell is the name for money! I love this game! Everyone in my house is addicted to it! We fight all the time over whos gonna be next to play it!It's reall fun and you can never get bored because your always looking for your matching furniture or running erands for everyone! The only problem i have is putting in the codes for stuff and always reseting the $#< remove me > at ! to new year , because i'm addicted to doing it so i'll get money! I'm 21 and if they made this game for kids then i guess i'm a kid!
| cutest game EVER!!!!! | | Kel from New Port Richey, Florida says (23/Feb/2003): | Really now. This game is the ONLY reason why i bought gamecube! It is the only game i play... other's have tried to give me new games, but they lay around collecting dust. I'm 21 years old and its kinda sad that i will leave somewhere just to turn the lighthouse on for the mayor. It is so cute and new stuff happens everyday.. so you can't get bored with it. I love it. Really....the cutest game EVER!.
| Best Game Ever | | Stephanie from DeKalb,USA says (23/Feb/2003): | This really is the best game ever. When I first saw the ads I was really interested because it looked differant than the other games out there. So I bought a Gamecube and Animal Crossing and havent stopped playing since! That was 3 months ago! Although the graphics are not the best it is made up for with being able to design your own house, umbrellas and clothes. And eventhough I have completely paid off my house with all the expansions I still have the museum to complete and more. In short, the playability of this game is amazing. You can keep playing and it doesn't end. I do have one complaint though. I usually want to play at around 3 or 4 or in the morning. Not much going on then. Whoever said this is a game for little kids is wrong! I played for 9 hours yesterday and I'm 19.

FOR SURE.
| The most amazing game EVER!!! | | Animalcrossing'sbiggestfaneverwhowouldneveragainsaystuffthatwasn'ttrueaboutit from Michigan USA says (22/Feb/2003): | When I first saw the animal crossing commericial I was like cool shirt and I didn't think much of it until I played it on my friends gamecube. When he said he got it I thought to myself oh great A day of BORING games, then he let me play it I thought it was the best game ever and we played it until 11:00 P.M.! I saw KK Slider and he sang his wierd songs. A month later we got a gamecube and my brothers hated it!! And I forced my mom to buy it and she even likes it. but my brothers still dont!!! But who cares what they think i'm older than them!
| 10 stars!!! I toatly love it!!! | | Jewl from Massachusetts, USA says (22/Feb/2003): | Animal Crossing
Animal Crossing is the best game I have ever owned!!! If you like alot of fighting and big action mabye this game is too much like real life to you.
I like Animal Crossing because it is alot like real life and it uses the same time as real life!!! Everything happens if you are there or not. What stinks is when in the begining, you toatly have to pay of a large dept (I havent done yet because this is my 2ed day with it). I am soooooo mad because I did not get it eirlier!!!!!>:( You also get a free memory card with it too!!!
There is only 1 thing wrong with it though.......the grapics. I mean it dosent ruin the whole game!!!!! NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! The game is toatly awsome!!!!! People(animails) can get mad at you and also love you for ever!!!!!!!!!! In this game life doesent revolve around you!!!
And the best part is, is that you can go into other peoples towns!!! Wait and there is more!!!!! You can meet people online and they can tell you thier name (animal crossing name) and town (animal crossing town) and you can tell it to the shop owner and give him a item and he will tell you a password and the person you met online will tell thier shopkeeper the password and they will get the item!!!!!!!!!!
| Animal Crossing just totally blew me away! | | Sea_princess_155 from Chicago, USA says (21/Feb/2003): | When I heard my friend's brother got gamecube, I thought "yeah, it's just another game system." Then, my friend got Animal Crossing for Christmas and I watched her play it. I thought "Woah, now that is a good game" and I just had to get it for myself. Unfortunatly, I didn't have gamecube. So, I made a deal with my mom. I agreed to give up my years worth of allowance.($200) So I got it and now I have such a great time playing it.
My opinion? You get oddly hooked. I love this game sooo much. Sure, the graphics sorta stink, but I love how the animals talk. They squeak and say stuff, like real people. Only a lot faster. Personally speaking, my favorite part is fishing. I only have 16 more kinds to go! The varity is great, how they have everything from Mint the blue squirrel to (my personal favorite) Peaches the purple horse to Tutu the polar bear to Goose the rooster.*Weird, isn't it?* I think it's really original and I enjoy playing it a lot. Except for that part where you're like, always in debt, but I pay it off easy. The furniture is so cool, with all these sets of stuff and lots of special animals that only come to visit you once a month. And it also covers the real holidays, like Halloween and Christmas and even your birthday! You can send letters and receive a rating on your house!(they are soo harsh ):
I think that even adults would enjoy playing this game, because it's realistic and unrealistic at the same time! And it gets even better. You can travel to different towns from other people's memory cards and meet the animals that moved away from your village to the other one. (They can, you know) So anyway, I just thought that it would be cool to post my opinion on this game, and for others who like this game too. Rating? 10 and gonna soar over!
| Melissa Donaldson | | Melissa from Floridia,USA says (20/Feb/2003): | I just wanted to tell You to send a letter to anyone in your town with the key and the code of: gQ6Xz862pfeNFqpQF6cRvf. I present should come soon. This game is cool and rocks!!! I love it!!! It is so cool!!! Don't you agree? It is cool right? YAH!!!!!
| How come no one agrees with me | | code name 555 from Las Angeles, California, USA says (7/Feb/2003): | This was a great game when i rented it. I loved the talking animals, living your own life. Then Tom Noock had to be cheap and charge you tons of money for just a size increase for your house. Then there was back and fort, back and fort. I know i'm an expert at video games, and if you want this game rent it. People trust me. If you don't you'll regreat it. My name is code name 555, if you heard if me and taking my expert ( i mean it, and expert ) than you won't regreat it what i have to say.
| This is one of the BEST Nintendo games I've played | | James Smith from Charlston,West Vergina says (6/Feb/2003): | I'm a big Zelda fan. This game shows some of a lot of games. For instance: Kaffie's shirt, the triforce symbol in the back of Katrina's tent, and the model of The Master Sword are all from the Legend of Zelda series. My own dad won't stop playing in the mornings. What else can I say?
| Very fun | | Dan from Racine wisconsin USA says (5/Feb/2003): | this game is great if you dont like the the fighting games. if you dont have it GET IT! the only bad thing is, youll start to notice everything is repeating! theyll ask you the same jobs over, and over! But, i like the games where u can design your own house and decorate it. also, you can have multiple houses and charecters! the game comes with a free memory card! and the #1 reason! *drum rolls* The charecters change there clothes!
| This game rules! | | Dragonalex from Drago (my towns name) says (4/Feb/2003): | This game is the best! i dont have any complaints. What i like best are the posibilities me and my frinidnd have totally diferent towns! the only game more fun is the sims.E-mail me with town tune ideas, im stumped for ideas.
| This is the best game ever! | | A gamer says (4/Feb/2003): | Ok, I have to admit, when I saw the commericials I thought that nintendo could not have thought of a worse game. But when my friend got it and I played it I was hooked! There are unlimited options which results in neverending fun! If you haven't already bought this great game, then get it! It is worth the price!
| Best game ever | | A gamer from Dallas tx usa says (3/Feb/2003): |
You boot up the game, and immediately, you're taken to a dog named K.K. He explains the pros and the cons on living on your own in a town filled with complete strangers, and explains how you'll make new friends. Now, you're taken on a train, where a dog named Rover comes up to you. You have a few choices on what to say, but everything basically leads to the same lines. Rovers confirms the time of the in-game clock, and asks for your name, and what town you're going to. You can put in whatever you like, it's all your preference! He verifies your gender, and when he asks you if you have a house in the new town, he's quite surprised to find out you don't. Rover goes and calls his old friend Tom Nook, and sets up a deal to hook you up with a house upon your arrival in the new town. You arrive, and Rover hopes to meet you again. You arrive, and Tom Nook takes you to four houses. However, the only difference is basically some of the colour. They're all small, cube-shaped houses... for now! Pick your house, and you're set.
The story is simple, but what can you expect from a game of this kind. It doesn't rely on it's backstory to get you interested, I'll get to the best part much later on.
Graphics:
No surprise, you're probably looking at screenshots, perhaps wondering whether to purchase this game, or any others. The graphics may turn you off, and believe me, when I heard Animal Crossing was announced for Gamecube, I expected at least a little bit of enhancements to make it superior to it's N64 brother. There are tiny little improvements, but not that noticeable to the casual eye. The graphics are simple, the animals and the character look like little dolls, but believe me, there is no problem with that. Graphics aren't what you should be focusing on. The graphics however fit the mood of the game, and that's what makes it good.
Sound:
The sound is average, I honestly don't have a problem with it. The background tunes become unnoticeable once you're immersed in this awesome game. You can listen to some tunes that you get during your game on your radio, and other music-hearing objects you can buy, or receive later on. When you talk to animals, they took the Banjo-Kazooie-esque sound approach, and all you hear is little sound effects while you read the text. This should be no problem as well...
Gameplay:
The heart of this game, the absolute best part, the most addictive part of this game. You're probably wondering, ''Where's the weapons? Where's the enemies I fight? How do I die?'' If you're thinking that, you should probably take this game out, and pop in Resident Evil, or Eternal Darkness. This game has absolutely no point, the only point is that you live your life in the town. You maintain your life. In the beginning, you have to pay off a debt on your house to Tom Nook by doing odd jobs, selling items, collecting insects and fish. After you're done that, you can basically do almost anything you want. You can go to your house, and style it however you want it, and get awarded points by some group. You can just chill, and listen to the music you collect throughout the game. You can even collect some Nintendo games, set it up, and pick up and play it. Believe me, playing Excitebike, Donkey Kong JR, and some other classics is awesome.
You can interact with your neighbours, and you absolutely have the choice of making them happy, and love you by running errands for them, or detest you by pushing them, and being nasty to them. The amazing part of this game is the fact that it runs on real-time, that means if it's 3:00 PM in real life, it'll be that time in the game. This has some downsides, like having to wait for a specific day, or perhaps missing an important event that happened at a certain time, but it's a pretty nifty feature added onto a console game. The game is realistic in the sense that something is ALWAYS happening, whether or not you're present or not. While you're off sleeping in real life, a new animal could be moving in town, or even moving out. Almost every day, you'll see a new animal move in.
This game has an innovative trading feature that is pretty cool. What you do is you go to a friend, or even a person online, and get their Town Name, and their Name. You go to Tom Nook's shop in the game, and say you want to trade. You put their data in, and give the item. Tom will give you the password, and give that pass to the person you want to give the item to. The person can go to Tom Nook in their game, say the password, and receive the item! Cool!
Another interesting feature is if you have a friend with the Animal Crossing game, you can visit their town via Memory card, and make friends with the animals there. You can mess around there, and then come back to your town. People are probably wondering, ''What's the point? The towns look the same!'' Well guess again, each game has a random map of a town. Your town will most likely be different from any other person's!
To sum it up, you can do almost anything. Mail to your animal friends, trade, collect insects and go fishing and donate them to the museum for display, play NES games, talk to the people in town, and much, much more. Also, a bonus, play a game on certain days for certain events. December 23rd is Toy Day, and be sure to talk to a townsperson until they ask your birthday. I haven't experienced it yet, but I can't wait until my B-Day hits!
Overall:
This game may not be for some people, but that's alright. What I do suggest is for everyone to try it out. Not only does it offer variety in a time where we're getting constant sequels, but it offers a fresh new idea, with some innovative tweaks to some old classic game formulas. This game easily scores a 10.
| Woah. That's (almost) all I can say. | | Jake from Minnesota, USA says (1/Feb/2003): | The think I like about Animal Crossing is the unlimited number of possiblities. Such as, say, finding a piece of furniture you'd been looking for for nine weeks in the dump. But it's more then just that. The countless number of different villegers you could have in your town is mind-boggeling. It's quite possible that you'll never see every person. (Duh.) But some things I would like to see in 2 (I hope, if they make it)
Useing your own patterns of furniture, WAY more NES games(!), Online play(i think it's coming out soon), a town hall, and putting in your birthday at the beggining.
| This game owns. | | Tetsuo Shima from Fl says (30/Jan/2003): | The game was pure ownage for the gamecube. It had nice cel-shaded graphics(im not a big fan of em, but this game is an exception), and it is fun as crap. Me and my bro go to each others towns and chop down each others trees. Its a very creative game and its like no other and not to mention that if you do all the crap in the game, its bound to be pretty time-consuming. This game is definately worth $50 and you get a free memory card with it. I suggest getting this game, and if you dont, i will come to your town in real life and chop down all of your trees.
| Animal Crossing Mania | | Ray from Verona, Pennsylvania, USA says (28/Jan/2003): | I think that this game is complete for anybody who enjoy's setting out on their own. I've always been a huge fan of Harvest Moon and although this game isn't that entirely, it still has that feeling of spontanious actions and unique suprises. This game could be one that I would play for awhile because I don't have to play for hours to accomplish things. Once you get settled in the game gets kinda routine like but you can still put some extras on with the Game links to the Gameboy Adv and the EZ Reader. As long as this game keeps new and fresh I'll never stop playing! Could there every be a Animal Crossing 2.....who knows.
| the only game i've ever liked | | rochell from Chubbuck, ID United states says (27/Jan/2003): | i was addicted to this game the second i picked up the controler. i loved the animals and the way it was set up. i've never played any video game more than two times up until animal crossing. i love that you don't have a life meeter. it was so different from any other game i've ever played. the way it is put together makes it an instant classic. the animals could use a little work, especially when you get more into the game. sometimes it's monotonous and can get old. then something happens and i'm hooked again. i really like all the codes and suprises you can find on the web, but it's more fun to find out the little suprises on your own. i really like the way the characters talk. but i really wish you could say things you would like to say to the characters and not have your answers already put in by the computer.
| Best Game On The Market!!! | | JOey from Wausau WI, USA says (27/Jan/2003): | I got the game on Christmas 2002 and I fell in love with it! Nintendo has come up with a sweet new style of graphics for Animal Crossing to give te game a smooth texture. This game is also one of those games that never end so you can play it as long as you want. GET the game if you dont have it already!
