Simply Awesome | | Zenn from Richmond, VA says (7/Dec/2002): | As a long standing Metroid fan, I was a little unsure of this title when I first heard about it. Metroid...1st person?! I thought to myself, "it's gonna suck". Nothing could be futher from the truth. Graphics - Downright beautiful, and I simply LOVE all the little extra effects they added, basicly just for fun! If you see a flash close up, you see Samus's eyes in the reflection of her visor, and if you are circle staffing something, Samus's are looking at it, or they will move if you move. If you fire your blaster really fast, then stop...you see heat coming off the cannon (no, it can't overheat :)). When coming out of the water, you see water ripples run down the front of your mask...and TONS more, just little attentions to detail are amazing, and very very cool. The environments are also beautiful. There is so much, its hard to go into it all :) Controls - Not as bad as some might say. My only gripe is sometimes it can be hard to "lock-on" to what you want if you have a lot of enemies around you. But jumping isn't as nasty hit-or-miss as in a lot of FPS games, its just more accurate, I think its because the distance was designed perfectly for a full jump (before you need to double jump), so you always land on target. I have rarely missed my jumping target, unless I was panicing cause something was attacking me :) Switching visors and weapons is a breeze too, although sometimes, your visor won't select correctly, but that doesn't usually hurt you that much :) Fun Factor - If you liked Super Metroid, Metroid II, and Metroid...and you like Metroid Fusion, you will love this too :) It's able to be its own thing, and still have an "old school" feel to it...it simply just FEELS like Metroid. From the morph ball, to the ice beam, everything is brought back. The only new item in Samus's selection is the Spider-Ball, which is cool. The only thing thats really different, is she doesn't spin when jumping anymore...and hence, no jumping spin attack :( Otherwise, a solid game, 10 out of 10, game of the YEAR!
| The reason I bought a Game Cube | | Fend from Sitka says (7/Dec/2002): | This game is Neat. I first loved Metroid after playing the one for NES and SNES. I was amazed how it turned out. I thought it would suck because it was 3D, but they couldnt have made it any better. The game, even being 3D, kept the meaning of Metroid true. The graphics are awesome and the music is what you'd expect from any Metroid game. They even remixed some of my favorite Metroid songs from the SNES and NES version!:P
| The best game of all time! | | Andre from Columbia, MD, USA says (6/Dec/2002): | Sadly, those stupid critics who are very jealous of Metroid Prime are giving terrible reviews of this killer game. This game is obviously the best game that was ever made. Metroid Prime has the best graphics, sound, and gameplay that you could experience in a video game. Metroid Prime is also incredibly fun to play. Not only that, your energy will be sucked into the game just like what the metroids do to bounty hunter, Samus Aran. I promise you that you will lose hundreds of hours of sleep over this game. Since I first had Super Metroid for the Super Nintendo in 1994, I was overwelmed with how good this game was. So good that I was hoping for a sequel. Unfortunately, there was not a metroid game for the N64. Then I found out that there was going to be a metroid game coming out for the Nintendo Gamecube. It was going to be called Metroid Prime. Overall, I had to wait eight years for this game. As soon as Metroid Prime came out, it full-filled all of my expectations that simply blew me away. It was definately the best game that I have ever played in my life. Not only that, but it has also gone platinum with perfect scores. It was about time that a game surpassed that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Crap.
| best game ever! | | ridge idzikowski from barry ont says (5/Dec/2002): | this game definitly rocks. once i beat it it took me 5 days i got hard moad wickid!. im now at pandora drifts [hard mode]and it is very very hard. but never the less it rocks man.
| this game #ucking rocks | | Cody Griffith from USA says (5/Dec/2002): | I really like it. it is hard and probably the best game out. If you are looking for a challenging game and one with alot of fun, this is the game. It has awesome graphics and great creatures!!!
| metroid prime rocks | | widowmaker from new mexico says (2/Dec/2002): | man this game is the coolest game out for game cube better than resident evil and resident evil 0 this game has awsome graphics the guns all have different damage on each monster thing. if u want to se samus with out here suit figuere it out on a different web site.
| awesome game | | BlackJacket from Albany New york USA says (1/Dec/2002): | This is the best game ever. the graphics are increadabile when you go into water and you come out you can see little drops of water on the visor. all the beams are awesome my favorite is the plasma beam because its increadabily strong. also the visors are awesome if you use the X-Ray visor its like your super man. its awesome ive wated 2 years for it and it finally came out.
Personal Quote " you dont play you are"
| This game is flawless | | Mike Tripp says (1/Dec/2002): | anyone who would give this game a 1 is clearly out of their mind. Metroid Prime is a game that anyone who has ever had interest in video games would like. The graphics are amazing and the sound is breathtaking. If you own a gamecube you must buy this game. If you own a Xbox or PS2 then sell it and buy a Gamecube and Metroid Prime. This game deserves a 20 out of 10.
| It's about F'N time! | | Ryan McDohl from Ohio, USA says (1/Dec/2002): | This game owns completely... At first I thought, "Hey, why the hell is Metroid a FPS(First Person Shooter)?? That's terrible... It's gonna suck!" Then I realized that if I didn't give it a chance, I wouldn't be a real fan, but that's besides the point. The bottom line is... THIS GAME ROCKS! The controls are easy, the storyline kicks ass, and all those neat items you can find... They preserved the story well, placed it in a good time, and used an unknown concept. Mutating creatures, several Bosses, the visors, grappling... Every little detail about this game is great. After 8 years, another Metroid game came forth, and it was by far the best one yet!
| Crazy Control Contraption | | Simon from Baltimore, USA says (1/Dec/2002): | I think that this is the best game on the face of this freakin' planet. The only thing that I would like changed is the controlling. I thought that the controlls could have been made to be more user freindly. I mean when I was scanning something, a monster attacked me and I did not have enough time to realize that I have to get out of scan visor mode to shoot. I was dead by then. Still, I have to say even with these strange controls, THIS GAME KICKED ASS!! (Alien ass that is)
| its nice but a hard game | | josh from montclair,nj says (1/Dec/2002): | Metroid should never had been made into a first person shooter it reminds me to much about james bond or crap like that but... the graphics kick a**. the one thing that sucks is that it is so g-d damnit hard. This game also has some of the hotest gadgets and weapons on a game ever, such as the old school downtown s*** like the morph ball, spider ball, double jump, grapple beam, and so on they're all there! And same with the weapons, orignal energy beam, charge beam, missle, and ice gun, but you also get a wave beam, charge missle, and the pasma beam. The visors are a very nice touch to an already perfect game, the combat visor(default visor), the scan visor, the x ray visor, and the thermal visor thing. overall i think it is a nice game and u should get it if you r not a pussy!!!!!
| The Worst Game EVER!!! | | OgreKill from Louisiana says (30/Nov/2002): | Metroid should never had been made into a first person shooter. Nintendo should be shot for have done this to my precious Metroid. SO I give this game two middle fingers up! I just hated it. The graphics are horrible, the sounds stink, and the controls are retarded. Need I say any more? Well one more thing! Just kidding I love this game...reverse everything I just said :P
| It's Prime Time! | | jared from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, USA says (30/Nov/2002): | At first I thought this game was going to suck in 3D, but that was before I played or even saw it. man, was I on crack or something? this is without a doubt the best metroid game ever, and it is tied with halo for the best 1st person shooter ever.
| Metroid Prime is mighty fine | | Jon from Toronto, Canada says (30/Nov/2002): | I knew metroid prime would not disapoint. i waited long and it was worth the wait. the graphics are beautiful and smooth and the new view is an awesome change for an oldschool classic. people complain that the 1st player view ruins the game, but if Metroid Prime was a sidescroller than the same idiots would be complaining that the gameboy advance version and the gamecube version were too similar. anyone that critisizes Shiguru Miyamoto, founder and creator of Nintendo, or his decisions about how to do a game is obviously a moron. xbox and playstation bought their status with their parent companies (microsoft and sony) bottomless treasure chest of money and even the members of xbox and PS2's staff wouldnt dare to speak out against the video game guru. in short metroid prime is amazing. if you dont like the view change, dont buy it but its your loss, you narrow-minded know-it-all's. to everyone else, enjoy! i know you will.
| This Game is The Best | | Cornholio from Maryland, USA says (29/Nov/2002): | All of the Metroid games have been very good, but Metroid Prime sets a new standard for all first person shooter games. The only reason I gave Metroid Prime a nine instead of a ten is because of the spider ball controls. If the controls for the spider ball were just up to move forward, and down to move backwards, it would be much better. When you are using the spider ball, and you move the joystick around alot, the controls will reverse. The controls can also reverse randomly whe you are moving alond the spider ball track. Besides that, everything is awesome. The graphics on the enemys are amazingly good. The way some enemys are just make you amazed when you see them because so much detail was put into them. Another reason of why the graphics are awesomely good is the way you see things with the x-ray and thermal visors. When you have the x-ray visor on, and you get hit by a chozo ghost, you can actually see Samus's bones in her hand. Also, when you fight the Omega Pirate, and you have the x-ray visor on, he looks very, very cool when he cloaks himself. Now onto the thermal visor. The accuarcy of the way it looks is amazing. Cold things are black, and hot things are red. You can see enemys that are hiding with it to stop them before they attack you. The only problem I have with the thermal visor is the name. There is something about it that I just don't like. I guess they chose the best name since infa-red visor sounds really bad to me. One thing that I am looking forward to in this game is hard-mode being much harder than normal. I admit, some stuff in normal was hard... until i figured out how to do it. Oh well, this is still the best first-person shooter that has ever happened. Untile either a sequel comes out, or until Halo 2 comes out which is going to be much better than any game. If it isn't then Metroid Prime is still going to rank supreme master of all first-person shooter games ever... even though it is more like a first-person shooter/adventure.
| Metroid Prime | | Samus from Cheasepeake\VA\USA says (28/Nov/2002): | This is the BEST game I have EVER played!!!! I didnt think it would be able to hold true to the series, but somehow, it did. I have been Starving for more metroid for.....I dunno, years? Incredible graphics, Easy controls, it has it all. By the way, I agree that any "control problems" are from the player, not the game. Right Sammy?
| The Best Game I Have Ever Played IT ROCKS!!! | | Matt from ohio says (27/Nov/2002): | Make more of them even tho i havent beat metriod prime yet still playing :) but i give it the best every game i have every play score its awesome make more of them there awesome.
| Dope game | | Mark Halvorsen from Mankato, MN USA says (27/Nov/2002): | I didn't thing Nintendo could make a good first person Metroid game, but they really did it. The morphing ball is probably the best part of the game. There are way more weapon attachments than past Metroid games. Super Metroid is a better game, but this is very close.
| Metroid Prime, not just another game. | | Mike Barnum from Moab, Utah, USA says (27/Nov/2002): | First of all, I have been waiting speciffically for Metroid Prime for two years now, I'v been waiting for a game like this for all my life. I'll tell you why this is one of the best games I have played in my life (and that's alot of games). Metroid Prime has some of the best graphics out to date, another reason why I love this game so much is because the controls are nice and easy to understand, the lock on targeting is really smooth, the frame rate is very, very clean, the plot sucks you in, or if you're a whimp and dont wanna use your scan visor you'll have just as much fun shooting metroids, space pirates turrits, wild animals, and so on. This game also has some of the coolest gadgets and weapons on a game ever, sucha as the old school morph ball, spider ball, double jump, grapple beam, and so on they're all there! And same with the weapons, orignal energy beam, charge beam, missle, and ice gun, but you also get a wave beam, charge missle, and the pasma beam. The visors are a very nice touch to an already perfect game, the combat visor(default visor), the scan visor, the x ray visor, and the thermal visor. Please if you have a game cube BUY THIS GAME AT ANY COST!!!!
| A Honest Review | | Honest Joe from New York, NY says (27/Nov/2002): | Metroid Prime is a very good game, don't get me wrong. But making it 3D was a bad move. No matter what you hear, don't belive the hype. It is not as fun as Super Metroid. In the old Metroids I use to get excited when I got an new power, now I dread going back to rooms, especially when there are a lot of jumps. Bottom line 3D is a hinderence and a hassel, adding nothing. But hey, I bought the game anyway and I'll probably play it for a while. I just thought a honest review needed to be posted somewhere. Your welcome.
