good game but can be boring! |
| bob from denver,usa says (3/May/2004): |
this game has many advantages and disadvantages the probalem with it is that the fun level is not that high.it is sometimes very funny and i like the mini mushroom ideas.i cnat wait for the next one to come out.my favourite character is yoshi because he is cool!this game is preety small and is over quite dull.it is very hard to write a review in!i have not much experince on the game because i have only played it round my mates!but i have played it enough to say its a average game and nothing more. i like the stars and coins and all the trophys you can win!i also like all the arenas and mini games.for a board game type idea i would give it 10 satrs but for a game idea only 5 so in all i give it 6.i hope my review as been helpfull!

Thought it's be more like the oldies |
| Amanda from Shreveport, Louisiana, USA says (5/Jan/2004): |
I've had Nintendo and still have a Super Nintendo with Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, and Super Mario All Star and I still play them. We also have a PS2, but I was not able to find may games that I could play with enough, but not too much, challenge so that I would be challenged and it wouldn't be too easy or too hard for me and still be a fun game. I got to thinking that since I like Mario games, maybe if we get a GameCube and some Mario games I would have more fun and more of a variety... We got MarioKart: Double Dash and Mario Party 4... Mario Kart is okay, kinda boring compared to the old version for Super Nintendo and as far as Mario Party 4...OMG.....SO COMPLETELY BORING!!!!!! I was expecting to be able to play it world by world like the older versions of it, but nooooo, they had to ruin it! This game is definitely for the simple minded. I mean, it's cute, but I am seriously thinking about taking it back to the store and getting my $49.99 back. I was hoping it would be a game that, to get farther in it, one would need to have skills and some smarts. I have NO idea why sooo many people are saying that this is the best game ever..it sooooo is NOT!! Complete waste of time and money!

| afriend from usa says (29/Nov/2003): |
The ending was TOTOALLY shallow. Minigames rock. I like the new boards a lot too. get it and you won't regret it! I think some people underrated this game, I totoally disagree, great game. I like the toad dude in the monkey suit^_^ so i think that the Bowser stage was my favorite

Fun for everyone |
| Veronica from Lindesberg, Sweden says (21/Sep/2003): |
This is a perfect game for parties. If there are anyone that isnīt familiar with games they still got it right. Everything is so easy, just pushing right buttons. Just perfect, but not as long lasting as i would like it to be.
I really enjoy playing this game by myself. But not everyone does that I know. I think it is good to have somone to play with.

Mario Party 4 = Button Mashing, Reflexes, and Luck... |
| HBoboli from Naperville, USA says (23/Aug/2003): |
This game is suitable for the simple minded folk only. It's pretty colors, trademark characters, and vast array of sounds and music hide lousy, annoying gameplay. The star and coin system sucks, the mini-games blow, and the game progresses frustrating slowly. There is so much button jamming your controller will soon be in the garbage dump if you play this game. Anyone who is even slightly serious about gaming will throw their controller down and demand a full refund and then some. Unlocking extra features is a pain and the only good board is bowsers which you have to play though other boards first to get. If you want a 4 player game the only way to go is Super Smash Bros Melee.

This Game Rocks! |
| Star from Canada says (12/Aug/2003): |
I love this game. I recently went over to my friends house and we played Mario Party 3, Wow, what a blast from the past! It just reminded me how great the Graphics on Gamecube are! Its really fun and addicting except that one game, Right Oar Left its just hard to do. -_- I still think there should be a few more maps, or at least more then two unlockable ones. I could never get high scores in every mini game to get one, though I'm One Game away from getting the Bowser one. {I'm not very good :P} This game is totally awsome!

Party game of the century! |
| Chris Johnson from Lancaster, CA says (30/Jul/2003): |
Mario Party 4 is an exciting and fun game with fun and creative mini-games. This game is the full package! Graphics, gameplay, and creativity all in one game. This game is fun!I love Mario Party 4. You'll never get bored playing it. It's a good game to play if you have a bunch of friends over.

it is the bomb |
| Douglas Tong from USA says (24/Jul/2003): |
it is the best mario party game ever. Great graphics and music The only bad things r that the characters look weird and it is very boring if u play on one player mode. It is fun if u play with your friends and family. Other than that it is the best.
|
good but could be better |
| seadreamer from SF, USA says (23/Jun/2003): |
The characters behave and look so retarded, sometimes I wonder if the game is meant for 5-year-old children. The mini games are okay, although most of them are too easy. Beach valleyball and bowser's final party are the only challenging ones. I still miss the original super mario games. Graphics and sound are nice. It's a good game, but can definitely be greater.
|
I like to party! |
| James McLelland from Jersey says (23/Jun/2003): |
Who thinks Mario Party 4 is better on Gamecube? Well, everybody does! This is more fun that Mario Party 1, 2 and 3 for N64. Waluigi looks better on Gamecube as well, but Mario is my favourite character. I totally enjoy playing this because loads of Mini-Games are fun! What about "Candlelight Flight" for example. Isn't it supposed to be "Candlelight Fight?" Anyone who has a Gamecube but doesn't have Mario Party 4, please buy this game.
|
Mario Party 4 ROCKS! |
| Anthony Filipas from Oregon, USA says (19/Jun/2003): |
MP4 is better than MP3 4 the N64. MP4 has awsome, great graphics, the sound is fun 2 listin 2. MP4 gameplay lets U B tons of characters, large game boards, fun and cool items, over 50 awsome mini-games which u can play all day long! Mario Party 4 is the best party game on the planet 4 the Gamecube.
|
Absolutely Fantasic! |
| Ali from Chester says (10/Jun/2003): |
This game is not your tipical Mario game! You'll find no platforms here! However there is a great board-game feel to this game and it features all of your favourite characters, good and bad! (Shy Guy is a personal fave!) The mini-games with in it are good fun! it's fab with multi-players.

The Best Mario Party Game Ever!!! |
| Curt Hester from Madison, IN says (30/May/2003): |
This game was awesome. it took no time to beat it. It's the best mario party yet. In the game blocks you will never know what you will get. Their are more items to buy at the item store. I thought it was a great family gift to play. Since I had so much fun with the game I thought I would buy it so my family and friends could play it.
Their are 5 boards to play from. Goomba's greedy gala, Toads midway madness, Shy Guys jungle jam, Boo's haunted bash, and Koopa's seaside soiree. Their is actually 1 more board it is Bowsers gnarly party, but you have to unlock it. to unlock it you have to beat the first 5 boards in 1 player mode. I beat them all with ease.
Since your able to bring your MP4 game anywhere, you can show other people how fun it is. that is how I found out about the game. Someone showed me the game.
There is no other game in the world that is better than this game. i have shown everyone my game and they like it. other people think that i shouldn't show off my game. They say the PS2 is better. I don't believe them.
This is my opinion and why I gave Mario Party 4 a 10!!!

Computer Biased.... |
| Friend Bear from England says (26/May/2003): |
Very poor game compared to Mario Party 3 on the N64, just 5 boards and no battle-royale mode which made MP3 awesome which i was hoping 4 would have also, The dice rolls are very unfair most of the time in single player story mode, you can expect to get very low dice rolls on average unless you use a constant supply of mega mushrooms also you can expect the computer opponents to pretty much get plenty of bonuses and extra help along the way, especially when you start to win the sub-games very often indeed.
The sub-games range from great to abysmally poor, the poor ones being the 1vs3 games where you have 99% chance or 1% chance of winning depending on the sub-game, no fairness or balance at all.
Graphics are pretty awesome though, but you would expect that from a 3rd Generation console such as the Cube, almost the entire board has some form of animation going on in the background and the sound/music isn't bad at all, i just wish the gameplay was at least fairer, because of that the lifespan for single-player is very limited. I would suggest get some mates together and have a proper party with no computer opponents invited.

Overall: hell of a game with great action and suspense |
| benilde from Minnesota says (22/May/2003): |
the game stays fun even after playing for a couple months, more mini games are needed for sure, DK is not only the strongest but he is always the best competitor, my fav. games are gooooooal, free throw, rumble fishing, and best of all dungeon dous! mini and mega mushrooms are a step up, battle spaces add exicitment while fortune spaces are just plain nuts! Bowser games are sure to piss you off though because you can't even see straight after he reads off his little fruit list. all in all, step up from mario party 1,2,3. A fifth is needed!
