CyCoPiGs opinion of the game Time Splitters 2 as of today | | Jake tha CyCoPiG from Cleveland Ohio USA says (21/Oct/2002): | Ah... Who could ever forget the good ol days of playing 007 Goldeneye on thier trusty lil pal, the N64? I do, and from the moment I began playing Time Splitters I started making a few comparisons of the two. It is clear that 007 Goldeneye schooled TS2. The first thing you may realize is how the health is displayed around the screen in a very GE manner and alot of the objectives are alike, such as burning documents and restoring power. Yeah, these things are both alike, but just like goldeneye it has an absolute KICK A$$ MULTIPLAYER!!! Theres little point in buying this game unless you have a good buddy or two (or three, or four for that matter) to unleash box of bullets on. This game has a built in level creator that allows you to make your own missions or multiplayer levels. You can have up to 10 PEOPLE play at once (which includes bots) and theres apparently more than 100 different skins to choose from. This game takes place over various time periods ranging from the wild west to planet x (dull name, but who cares?) over a course of 500 years. Your mission is to... um... kill these butt ugly time splitters and save the human races past present and future or somthin like that. With different time periods comes weapons from those periods, so that allows for a massive arsenal. I believe with the level editor you can combine all sorts of weapons into the same level at once but i havn't tried it yet. You can also do a cooperative story mode with a friend so that allows you to have 2 people do story mode at once! (about time they did this) Speaking of story mode, the mode has 10 missions each over 500 years like i said. Yeah, it may only be 10 but they can be long and hard. OH YEAH! There are also Unreal Tournament like bonus missions that arn't in the story mode. There are deathmatches, kill as many as you can, beat the timer, collect as many as you can, ect... The list goes on and on and on... (Its almost like a game all by itself) Theres also an Arcade mode which is ALL deathmatch i think. There are MANY, MANY secret thing you can get in this game, things like new skins, new guns, new bonus modes, new levels, cheat codes and more! | Eat that! ha ha, Oh damn, rocket in the face! | | James (Bov) Bovington from Huddersfield, England says (14/Dec/2003): | I love this game, I play it alot with my friends and its so much fun, the multiplayer is the best aspect by far, Me and a friend played this for at least seven hours over night. The single player game is good too, its got all the aspects that make a good FPS (including zombies) and no visible technical problems.
Back to the multiplayer, first the technical stuff, I know its boring but bear with me, it runs smoothly unless absolutely eveyone is in the same place, shooting explosives, at the same time, did i mention the explosives?
Now, the gameplay, this has to be one of the greatest multiplayer fps's of all time, there's a slim chance it might, dare i say it, even beat goldeneye on the N64 (official best multiplayer in a shooting game EVER!) but only a slim chance, mind you.
Whilst playing this 'all nighter' as it were,you need to remember some golden rules, so here they are in brief (if you want the extended version just 5 people have to say my review was helpful, just 5):
1. You will need something to keep you awake, I sugest caffine in any form (in order of amount of caffine, coke, tea, coffee.)
2. dont get boring, like spouting the same phrase whe you soot someone, no one wants to hear 'ha ha, you sucked my bullet' over and over, vary it a little, improvise, some ive come out with are 'now whos eat bananas?!' and 'have that right in your tiny kisser you scum sucking worm' they dont even have to make sense 'now we'll see whos has the last hand on the other foot'
There you go, i know its only 2 but its the brief version.
So, to quote a review by some dumb yank who cant write, in 'contusion' (isnt that a medical term?) timesplitters two is an amazing multiplayer game and a good single player game and well worth your moolah.

But there are some problems. The computer people have really bad AI, because you'll stand in front of them and they will just sway for about 10 minutes and then shoot you, if they are not already dead. And then there is the zombies. What are zombies doing here, It's a sewer with zombies. How does that work out. Besides all the bad stuff, the graphics kick butt. I mean there's watermelons in the first level, and when you shoot them they move and explode, instead of like some games where the backround stays there like it's superglues. The sound is good, I mean the people sound realistic. And, they actually move their mouths to what they're saying. And then there is the gameplay, which goes smoothly. Except you don't really know much about the plot, except in the end. The controls are good and the fact that you can switch them is great. Another problem with the gameplay is that there is only ten levels. I mean, my friend and I beat it in two hours. The life span is kind of confusing, it's kind of like goldeneye where there is two little bars and one goes down and the other goes down and then you're dead. The multiplayer thing is really cool. You can have like a ton of people and you can shoot all sorts of weapons, and you can be tons of characters like a monkey. With the multiplayer mode, you can never really get bored of it. The make your own map mode is also very original. I have never seen one except on computer games. It's fun to play by yourself or with your friends (but it's better with your friends). That about sums up my review.
| This game lacks brains. | | Dan from Tulsa, OK USA says (9/Dec/2004): | I really enjoyed Golden Eye for Nintendo 64 and was initially excited by this game. However, after playing it on single player on hard I have to say this game is the ultimate in gay. The first level pits you against a helecopter and two ever spawning guys that attack from two sides. Then the next is a boss that takes a million hits with an ever spawning group of aliens, the next is ultra gay with 2 head bosses and on the last, yep, you guessed it, it takes a but load of hits and has his ever spawning alien side kick that takes a million hits too. But don't worry, you get six shooters. Basically, my big complaint is, it's hard because the bad guys take a million hits and not much to do with skill level. You have to rely upon body armour and garbage like that. On Golden Eye (which I beieve was done by the same team) would reward you for head shots. Well, on this game, when you have to shoot a dude a million times and he has his side kick, you will get blown away fast if you aren't going from one to the next. If you aren't the kind of person that likes to beat everything down to the last drop (easy, normal and hard) this game is alright, otherwise, its hard level and the challenge modes are totally gay. It's a shame these guys didn't have enough brains to make hard hard based on skill.
| this game kicks ass | | David from VT,USA says (1/Jan/2003): | this game is awesome. i got it this weekend and cant stop playing it!!! the multiplayer is amazing. there are a thousand different weapons to choose from.All of the weapons are extremely cool!! the graphics are the best ive seen for gamecube yet. they look as real as can be on places that dont exist. there are so many characters to choose from it is crazy!!!i like the character R-109 but u can pick your own.there are so many you might have trouble deciding which one to be.this game is really hard though.not oh this is hard i didnt get it on the 3rd try hard. this game is oh my god i havent beaten the 1st level and ive played it 10 times atleast and everytime i play i get further then die!!!that is how hard it is.The graphics are worth it though and so is the multiplayer!!!the game is just amazing.the sound is really good too. they have alot of selection of different sounds.Especially for a shooter game!!!you should go out and buy this game right now!!! you need it!you cant live without it!go get the game now!!!!it is too good to pass up!!!think of crystal clear graphics and so many choices of how to play it boggles your mind.this game just plain kicks ass!!!!!!

Many options were added which irritated me that they weren't available in GE. Like Having a gun when you start, bots with 5 diffculty settings, Linking 8 consoles together (count: 8 times 4 = 32 players together in one game), totaly customize your controller, etc... With the 90 characters, 10 story modes, 45 league levels, 24 challenge levels, 10 multiplayers modes and a lot af humour, this game is probably good for years of fun. The map-making portion of the game is extensive, but due to memory limit reasons, you cannot construct anything but small maps. Maby when the harddisk for the PS2 is available in Europe, we can create huge story based maps. All the levels, characters, cheats and options make this game a MUST BUY! I especialy liked the Story Co-op mode, where you can play the story mode with two players. Then there's the music, which realy impressed me when playing the "Where are the batteries"-challenge. I rated this game a 9 because shoot-em ups aren't realy my type of game, but next to GE, this one counts as the best games I've played in years.

It has a good plot. It has good replay value due to the customizing level of it.Its multiplayer is really good it lets you have up to ten bots and there is many scenarios. It is like a mix of perfect dark, goldeneye and turok.But its story line is more perfected.It has its own map maker.there is also many skins to choose from its multi player. This is a game of great fun and replay value. The arsenal of weapons is awesome they range from a brick all the way to a rocket launcher. The bots are quite challenging. The dodge bullets well they also can roll and slide.Another good factor is that there is no blood or gore.However you can blow off zombies heads and arms. Blood or gore doesnt always make a great game. This game is a must have for first person shooters. It combines elements of old school play and new technology to create a enviroment unmatched by any other.

It had so many old and futuristic weapons which made the game interesting and fun. I absolutely love the multiplayer. There are aroun 100 differant skins for multiplayer which makes more fun to unlock them and then to be them. There are a bunch of multiplayer modes and places. You can customize your controls and your weapons. The one thing that was wrong with this game was the single player missions. They weren't the funnest things ever and they aren't very many of them. But dont let this change your mind about buying the game. This game is so much fun and I love it to peices. The multiplayer is the best thing ever. There are also really cool features like the create a multiplayer map feature. There are cool scenario missions that are lots of fun. BUY THIS GAME! BUY THIS GAME!!!
| Killer game for the killer in us all. | | webb #7 from Galway, Ireland says (8/Dec/2002): | TS2 is a top notch game. It'll take a good deal of your life to 100% it, but it's time well spent. Currently one could drown on first person shooters, but this game offers something different fun. It offers all the stample of it genre, sneaking, sniping, and mowing down hordes of enermies, with a great varity of weapons. But it also offers things that yu won't find in any other games, such as mini gun battles with armies of gingerbread men, and the challange of smashing all the windows in Nortra Damn Catherdral with a granade launcher. As well as being fun it's funny, kill with a smile on your face. My only quidal would be that if you play a robot the camera moves as if your breathing and robots don't breath. Aside from that bring on number 3 (hopefully with a modern Hollywood level wher you can shoot Ben Afflick.)

The worst in this great game is his sound: it has got some defects, but in general there are a lot of variety of music and nice themes.
The gameplay is great, very good, nearly perfect. But the best is the fun factor. You canīt get bored with this game! In one word, this game is BRUTAL! The multiplayer, the arcade sesions, the history, all is great, the game is very long and funny!!! You canīt get bored with it! You need more, more and more, until you canīt see anymore, until you canīt feel anymore! This game is really, really great!!! One of the best games that I have ever played!
If you play with it you will dream about it...
| TS2 is so l33t!!!! | | Bucky Avalon from USA says (13/May/2003): | U heard me! l33t!!! Its so awesome.... As Nintendo Power said its a "Multiplayer Dream Come True." Yyou can have up to 10 bots in multiplayer.. so if ur alone u CANT be bored. The Arcade league is fun. MP levels are so sweet and theres tons of them, and also tons of multiplayer modes. Thinbgs liek teh classic deathmatch to Gladiator and, my favorite, Monkey Assistant. Tons of weapons, from all different eras. My favorite is the twin AK47s((S47 Soviet x2)). Story mode is pretty fun, but i'm not into taht part of the game, i like the multiplayer better. The story mode is challenging. After owning it since Christmas i have just beat it in easy mode, of course most of my time with the game has been devoted to teh multiplayer mode.

Time Splitters 2 has what im looking for, and i know its what you've been looking for also. But the only flaw i can think of is the story mode. I mean just 10? thats like getting a box of Cereal for your birthday. But when i played it over in Normal mode the experience was tottaly diffrent and i enjoyed it alot. Ill just be blunt here, this game is Better than Halo! XBox also has nothing on the Gamecube. But ppl do your selfs a favor if you dont have a Gamecube get one, and if you dont have this game get it also. And parents, there is no blood or gore so give little Jimmy and Susie a real game. k

Me personally i would only reecommend this game to any gamers that like first person shooters. If you liked Goldeneye on the n64 then you'll like this. Just check out the graphics and sound and gameplay in this game then you will know what a first person shooter should be. I'm not overating this game but it's a prime example of what a first person shooter should be.I mean you don't get good many first person title on the ps2 that often this is a breakthrough for others.

long. My favorite guns are the mini gun and the sci fi hand gun.
We love the cloaking feature. We have not had this much fun since Golden Eye.The different kinds of music are awesome.
The graphics are great. The choice of characters is very extensive, try some of the good looking babes. We especially got
a scream from playing as the monkey,he makes cool sounds when he gets shot, and his agility is excellent.I highly recommend you get this game.
| Not bad at all | | Wills from UK says (19/Jan/2003): | Well as FPS's go this game is pretty good, the single player provides a diverse range of interesting story lines and environments. It is always nice to manipulate the environment (e.g. the map maker) but this could have been developed further. The multiplayer is very enjoyable, especially with 4 humans) and the bots do have a reasonable amount of A.I. It would have been nice to have a larger range of weapons and levels as well as the large selection of available characters. I would reccomend this game but only if the buyer has atleast 3 controllers for their console.
| finally goldeneye and perfect dark have been beaten | | robin from manchester says (9/Dec/2003): | iv only played it once on my friends gamecube, but i was playing for 6 hours. i couldnt put the controller down, it is sooo smooooth. and it just rules. i love the game so much i might actually buy my own game cube just for it. iv been at lectures and when i get bk im gonna go and play it for another 6 hours. the first level is incredible. i was actually shaking because of the adrenaline and i was scared to use the flamethrower incase the mutants set me on fire. in envokes such emothin, its incredible. the best feature is the 2 player story mode. this game rules.

With many different playing modes this game has to offer it provides anything a gamer would ever want or need. With over 15 levels 100 characters and arcarde mode, challenges that boggle your mind and story mode which is a difficult perspective on the game. This game is the game of the year and is a BADASS shooting gunning snipping action packed GAME EVER.... i would not waste my time writing this much if it wasnt the greatest GAME EVER. PERIOD
| best fps eva | | Lee from York says (25/Jan/2003): | this game neva slows down even wen theres loads of fireing.Theres loadz of weapons from pistol to homing launcher all with 2 ways to use the gun.Multiplayer is brilliant with co op story mode.Story mode is easy on easy but on normal the game is alot harder with more objectives to do.The characters are kule with monkeys,zombies,ducks and gingerbread men.The levels r all very different from aztec times to neo tokyo.The sound is ace. time splitters rules buy it!!!!!!!

You need to solve some puzzles , like explore around for sifferent things to use to blow up safes and take out satellite dish communications and all kinds of cool stuff.
This game is as good if not better than Halo. I have both, played both and they are very close in score. Say what you want about this game but in my opinion its top 10 of all games released thus far in 2002. L8r!
| amazing man | | phil from darlo says (17/Jul/2003): | this game is the best ever, it is as realistic as you can get! i mean wow! ive masterd the full game completeing the game on hard mode! this game is surly 1 of the best games out for game cube, lookinbg forward to timesplitters 3! my favourite level is where you have to throw bricks at your enemys, i lovwe the cool mini games aswell, platainum is an only option for me! the characters are cool, how did they come up with them?
