Great but default setups are bad, putting it mildly. |
| Jon from Ashland, USA says (17/Jun/2004): |
OK. NASCAR Thunder is great. But with the aerodynamic-to-damage ration is a little of, whether its a big crash or a little scraping. Also, the default setup are no good. You really have to mess around with Daytona and Talledaga. A hint for great setups there is having 30 PSI and gear ratios 1-3 at the most, 4 at 1.45 or 1.50 at Talledaga and Daytona respectively, and lowest at the rear end. You can hit 194-197 MPH and 200 in the draft. Anyway, the cautions can never come at a worse time. You're right there and the caution blows out with 2 to go and your car stinks on the restart. You seem to finish 1 thousanth of a second short of a win. Other than that, the best graphics I've ever seen.

First win of Career at Daytona 500. |
| RamblinMan from Michigan, USA says (15/Dec/2003): |
I must say that this is a fun yet more lifelike game than the previous NASCAR games i have. but, through the years of playing the different games, i have learned how to win.. without an accident at the daytona 500. 191 MPH was my top speed. very fun. and i like the sponsorship deals, as you progress they give longer time to be your sponsor.
i think the color of my car had a lot to do with winning this.. sounds crazy, but true.. i had a dark red car i made just messin around. never could win, let alone place in the top 20. i changed it to a similar color scheme of the 46 CITY Chevrolet car in Days of Thunder, and i won. maybe lighter colored cars are faster... dunno tho. maybe its just how i drive with the car.

Best from EA Sports, but doesn't come close to Papyrus and Sierra's NASCAR Sims. |
| Jason Yates from Newfoundland, Canada says (29/Sep/2003): |
I have NASCAR Thunder 2003. I play it every now and then, but I probably won't use it at all once I get NASCAR 2003 Season by Sierra. NASCAR Thunder 2003 has geat physics, great graphics and is a lot of fun, but not being able to completelty design your own car (such as painting it)is a real bummer. Also, if you miss your pit on pit road, and you try to back up to get to it by going in reverse, you will be disqualified for going backwards. It seems like you do not have so much "freedom" as NASCAR sims by Sierra. Also, you can't save your game in the middle of a 500 lap race. They expect me to race for 4 hours staight? Well, at least you can pause it. The damage that your car gets isn't that realistic. I crashed into a wall at 180 MPH, and the front of my car just buckled. I scarped the wall and my front tires came off the ground. Overall, the game is not good. By the way, I'm a huge NASCAR fan, so not liking NASCAR Thunder 2003 has nothing to do with me not liking NASCAR.

One of the Best Racing GAMES!!!! |
| Kurt Cubberley from Charleston, USA says (28/Aug/2003): |
Nascar Thunder 2003 Rocks. I am currently playing the Career mode, and i am leading by 977 pts. After 31 Races. If you are just starting, you are gonna have a tough time. But when you get better at the game, you do very well. Good Luck at this Magnificant game.

Good Graphics |
| freewheel from Statesville, NC says (20/Aug/2003): |
I rented Nascar Thunder 2003 and I must say I wasn't all that impressed. The graphics and sound are good but the racing is lacking. After playing the Papyrus series of games on PC and Nascar Dirt to Daytona this game is wanting. The tracks seem too narrow, the handling I would describe as "arcade" or too "video game". To my perception they physics of the game need to step up. There isn't enough chassis or drive train adjustments. The paint shop is a cool feature, the interface is much simpler than the PC games and allows more creativity than most console games. Bottom line: If you like arcade driving games you should enjoy this game, if you like simulations and are less interested with pretty pictures try Dirt to Daytona.

The BEST game EVER! |
| Dallas Driskell from Mounds, Oklahoma~ SouthWest of Tulsa says (7/Aug/2003): |
I never have liked NASCAR until I went to a race in March at Texas Motor Speedway. I have bought NASCAR Thunder 2003 and I play it EVERYDAY! I know TOO MUCH NASCAR! But all thanks to this game! YOU CAN'T COMPARE ANY GAME TO IT! I plan to buy ALL NASCAR Thunder games to come in the future! I love it!

The best game of the year! |
| Adam from Maine, USA says (2/Jul/2003): |
Nascar Thunder 2003 is the best game of the year and so far the best nascar game easports has ever made. Season mode is very easy even under legend but it is still fun. I had a hard time in Career mode but start with 12 races and rookie and its very easy. I won 2 championships in less than a week. But it gets harder the more races you add for a season. it takes longer to build engines and chassis. The downside of the career mode is having to pay for everything. but it still is the best game i have ever played. The graphics for this game are awesome! But i wish that the computer players would get more damage when they flip. because the can flip and even have a lot of damage and they can end up being the fastest cars on the track whenever you get damage your the slowest car. But other than a few problems the game is awesome like I have already said. I cant wait until Nascar Thunder 2004 comes out! Go 8,20,18,01,29,30,31,32,and 3 even thought he isn't racing anymore.

| Jayden Mann from Olympia,WA,U.S.A. says (30/Jun/2003): |
The game in all is awsome but it gets boring after you have completed all of the lightning challenges.[I have].I agree that there are some car setups that work and the rest of 'em dont.I just rock at season mode.I have earned over ten championships in season mode to.I have only won the Daytona 500 in career mode.I have collected 118 thunder plates in all.I am sure going to buy NASCAR THUNDER 2004 when it comes out.P.S.I have an XBOX game system.

Good,But needs some work |
| Nick from Buffalo,NY says (1/Jun/2003): |
I pratice alot on this game and i always finish 40-43rd i cant get up in the top 20 its just a very hard game....Career mode is fun but it would be alot funner if i can actually finish below 40th place...creating car is probably the most funnest. The games about even both ways..pretty exciting..but hard to get used to..

Definate 9 pushing 10... This game ROCKS!!! |
| Grover from Dallas, USA says (30/May/2003): |
I have a stack of games ranging from SOCOM to ATV Offroad Fury, to Madden and NBA Live. I no longer play any other game besides NASCAR Thunder 2003. Well, until Madden 2004 and Thunder 2004 come out... Every mode of the game, be it career, season, or whatever, is exciting and hard to put down. The career mode is the way to go though! Build a team, create a car, and have fun. It is tough starting out! Practice as much as possible, and work your setups. The setups are the key to victory. There are setups on the internet that work and some that don't. Fine tune them to your driving style. The game is so addicting, a buddy of mine doesn't even own a PS2 console, but yet, he had to go buy the most expensive steering wheel so that he can come over and race as much as possible. That, alone, should speak volumes about the game. BUY IT NOW!!! Then, go buy 2004 when it comes out! I WILL!!!

The best game from EA sports yet! |
| Daniel Hayes from Kissimmee, Florida, USA says (10/May/2003): |
This game is a great buy for people who do not really like NASCAR. With its flawless graphics it is the best buy of the year! And the Thunder Licences really help. If you are not really good at a track then try to get one there. You can get good enough to get the automatic pole! The Thunder License idea was a really good idea too. It is so realistic! The thing I don't like though is that the computer cars can wreck and flip and still be in the race! But if you do then you are mostly out of the race. But besides that, a great buy for the whole family! Go #8,20,18, and 43!

BEST NASCAR THUNDER YET!!!!best racing game ever |
| Carl from Glenwood, Maryland says (10/May/2003): |
nascar thunder 2003 is a very good game...but dont race in season mode! its a waist..to frickin easy..u always win..lead every lap..get every pole..go into career mode and start ur career..its a lot harder..but more fun..u get to build ur team and car from scratch..its very challenging but u feel proud after u pull off the win..and no matter what dont stop trying because u will have some bad weeks if u dont have the right set up...but this is a very very good game..i have it for PS2....GO JEFF GORDON

best ever! |
| shawn codfische from London Ontario, Canada says (29/Apr/2003): |
This game brought the gaming world into reality. This is by far the best nascar racing game ever! The career mode is great and the season mode is even better. The only thing that i wish it had was some pictures that you could choose for your create a car.

Best NASCAR game that I have played! |
| Big JUNIOR Fan from Wallace, NC USA says (15/Apr/2003): |
This game is really challenging. I have read most of the comments some of the "gamers" on this page have made. I agree that finding the right setups is difficult, but that is what makes the game more fun. I too looked for help and found that there are some sites where you can find the right setups for each race. You just have to keep practicing. What fun is there in turning the game on and being able to win every race from the word go (or "gentlemen, start your engines)? How many rookies in NASCAR have ever won the "Winston Cup"? None, but you can on this game if you keep at it. My suggestion is to stick with it. This is the only game that I have played since it came out, and have enjoyed every minute of it. GO Junior!

AWESOME RACING GAME!!! |
| Taco from Tuscaloosa says (13/Apr/2003): |
I have been playing racing games since "pole position" for my atari, and this, by far, is the best racing game that i have ever played. Unlike some games in the past, on tracks like talladega and daytona, u could just pass at will, but on here, u cant, if u can, u have really done something good with your car setups. The physics of the game are out of this world. the career mode is very fun, but it is very hard..its not something you just do for a day or so, u have to stay at it for a while to get good at it. the thunder licences are cool b/c they really teach you how u are supposed to go around the track. some people wont have the patience for this game, but if u are a true die hard nascar fan, this game is awesome, u dont have to be a wrench-head to figure it out either, just read the info for your car setups and it will tell u everything u need to know. happy racin, GO #8!!!

This game got me hooked on NASCAR |
| Derek from Cornell, IL says (17/Mar/2003): |
I have always found NASCAR boring, until I purchased this game. I am now a big fan of NASCAR and especially, Jeff Gordon. I love the technical aspect of the game, having to get perfect setups to achieve victory. The sound and the graphics are crisp and clean and very well layed out. I just finished the Coca-Cola Family 600 race in Season Mode and am happy to say, that in the whole season, I have gotten 10 out of 12 poles, 12 out of 12 victories, and have led every lap except for four. If you like racing, it doesnt even have to be NASCAR, but if you like racing, definitely check this game out.

The BEST game I ever played |
| George lamntag from Boston says (2/Mar/2003): |
Possibly one of the best games of the year even better than 2002...NASCAR Thunder 2003. In the game system I played it on playstation 2 it rocked this was wicked awsome the realisticness of it and the addictive nature rules. I used to make fun of my friend playing NASCAR games and watching it but now,..i am a fan for life this game rocked and I am going to buy Playstation 2 just for this game. Cant wait till 2004.

Car set up is the key!!!!! |
| Brett from Syracuse, USA says (24/Feb/2003): |
I was not a nascar fan before playing this game, actually I found nascar boring, but that said this game has won me over. The graphics and sounds suck you in, and if you have the Xbox version (which if your a true game fan you do) you know how awesome it is to play your own music while speeding around a track at 190 mph. Set up is the key to enjoying this game in career mode. After a so-so rookie year I learned how important setups are and now qualify in pole position 80 to 90% of the time and am leading in points for the nascar championship. All and all this game is more addicting than Madden, Splinter Cell, or NBA 2k3. XBOX RULES!

Car Setup |
| ME from North Pole says (22/Feb/2003): |
In a career just leave them alone except at the superspeedways. You can win the very first race the Daytona 500 by setting the transmission to manual and the gear ratios to preset 5. But you have to be careful about blowing your engine. Whenever your rpm's are at 9000 just let of for a second then floor it again. This game rocks though. It's graphics are great.

To Tony Davis from Scott Denney of Knightstown Indiana |
| Scott Denney from Knightstown, Indiana, US says (13/Feb/2003): |
Just mess with the setup. On really banked tracks like Daytona or Talledega the wedge should go negative. Have less tire pressure on Bristol or Martinsville so your Fuel will be more efficient. Good Luck:) I have it for PS2:) It is really hard for a career but you'll get used to it. Start as rookie. Just drive competitive and you'll find your way to victory lane but I haven't yet
