A game worth buying! |
| UnLegend from Mount Airy, NC, USA says (17/Apr/2004): |
I'll be honest, I'm a long standing fan of the series but I haven't played and mastered every Mk. The first one still brings back fuzzy memories of needless bloodshed, I'm pretty sure I played the second one and maybe the third or fourth but this is the second one I've actually purchased. I consider myself a bit of a gamer, 'oldschool' is great but seriously oldschool is 'oldschool' because 'newschool' just hadn't been thougt of when 'oldschool' was still at it's peak. Deadly Alliance takes the great characters I loved (or liked rather) and just makes 'em more badass. Quite frankly the Cooking with Scorpion video was worth the money I put in it by itself. It's more challenging than the others, sure there are fewer fatalities but the animalities were a little over the top anyway, a few characters are missing and whoever thought of changing reptile needs his ass kicked but at the end of the day I'm rather pleased with it. And really, isn't that all that really matters? Seriously I'm asking if something matters more tell me so I can stop wasting my life and begin this more fulfilling regimine.

- Unlocking Characters - |
| sicerow (sis-er-oh).... 8 D from Birmingham, England says (12/Jan/2004): |
Hey everyone this game is really good. My dad has a job reviewing games so he's basically brought home every single ps1, ps2, xbox and gamecube there is to buy. and although mortal kombat isn't one of my favourites i have to say its way up there in the list. ive played hundreds of games and the cheats to this one couldnt be easier. to unlock any of the characters simply type in mortal kombat deadly alliance cheats in your favourite search engine, look around for a bit and it will have all the krypt letters, purchase whatever character you want. i would definatly reckomend the cooking with scorpian video, its so funny. anyway, you may think this game is crap cus its only one fatality per character but trust me, you dont know how lucky you are to have these kinda graphics in this kinda game the and mk1, 2, 3 and 4 are all shi* out of ther motha $#< remove me > at !i* heads lol the graphics are so crap but this one is above average. also characters like nitara kitana sonya li mei and frost are great cus theyre strong and theyre girls!!!!!!!!! fightin games r all about guys guys guys and sub zero has got a girl who shares similar powers to him why doesnt scorpian!!!!!!! anyway some of the stuff (EG VIDEOS AND PHOTOS) u can unlock r hysterical lol!!!! c ya

Wasn't the worst |
| Rob from ST LOUIS, MO USA says (12/Jan/2004): |
What happened to two or three fatalities each, plus stage fatalities, babalities, friendships, brutalities, and animalities? These are things that were very nice about previous games. And the selection of characters is unlimited. And the only two "hidden" characters lack any fatality. And the fatalities are lame...I mean Quan Chi just stretches the other guy's neck, with horrible graphics I add. And what is up with the chunks of whatever in the aftermath of fatalities? And the combos aren't that good either...about the only nice thing is the addition of the impale option while in weapons mode. I do like the two fighting techniques from which one may choose...but the "Special Attacks" are limited and lame...some having only two apiece. Midway sure does need to shape up. It's a complete disappointment...and waste of money. :( If I had more than two thumbs to offer, I'd give it several thumbs down. I couldn’t believe the lack of special features. And having to buy things from the Krypt was very lame…I think this was a much larger let down than the Mortal Kombat Sub-Zero game on PS1. At least with that game you couldn’t expect much…but with this being the latest of the MK games, and especially after MKT, there are expectations; none of which MKDA fulfilled.

Funnest MK yet... |
| Angelus from Apple Valley, CA USA says (5/Jan/2004): |
The MK series finally takes a step back and goes back to its roots. Personally, I think the Babalities and all that other crap in the other games was just not needed and some of the extra Fatalities were just plain goofy. Many others might disagree with this, but I stand firm on my opinion.
The new fighting stances, I think, are really cool. The weapons are a nice touch, even though a 'Button-Masher' has beaten me several times just using this stance.
The character models are well done (I really enjoy the bouncing booby effect, its not as extreme as DOA) and the portraits are just awesome. I especially like the bruises and cuts on the face after a match. The bloody footprints are nice as well.
Overall, this game is really great, it could have been one of the greatest. I only have 3 real problems with this game:
1- The control pad (not the joystick) on the Gamecube controller is kind of small making some moves and Fatalities rather difficult to perform and you can't choose to use the joystick.
2- The Krypt is way too big and it takes way too much time to unlock everything. I appreciate the extra content (or should I say 'Kontent') and a lot of it is really cool, but to play the game enough to get the amount of Koins it takes... wow, that's a lot of gaming hours.
3- Where's the Pit?
And here's my last complaint; actually it's more of an inquerie than anything: Where's Johnny's 'cluster-smasher'?

it's an awesome game but without liu kang i don't know |
| nick from merlin oregon U.S.A says (2/Jan/2004): |
in the previous mortal kombats, the graphics werent even nearly as good as these ones. but they did have something in them that this game doesn't. And that's liu kang. in all the other mortal kombats liu kang was my favorite fighter and i am really good with him! and when i turned this on to play i was anctious so i did not watch the video and then i went to play arcade and i did not see liu kang so i just went online and tried to see if he was one of the guys i had to unluck. i could not find anywhere that told me how to unlock him so i just gave up and then i watched the video and i saw that liu kang was not in the game and i was bumed. so then i went to training and i got better with all of the other guys. and now i have basically mastered the game with anybody and i am undefeatable. but the cool things about this game are the conquest, even that is kinda boring atleast they thoght of something new to put in them. and i also like the krypt where there is a chance of getting something good or getting something bad that males it more fun. and i also like frost's fatality alot! i think that it is freakin awesome! personnaly, even without liu kang and all i still thing that this is the best mortal kombat yet!

Hi im from the USA and i like pizza |
| Not Chineese from USA says (23/Dec/2003): |
This game is tight n all. but it doesnt compare to MK3 anhialation (HOwever u spell it). this game would be so much better with more then 1 fatality per peson. and why dont they have the greatest characters ever. Nightwolf, Ermac, Noob SAibot, and Barraca from MK2. Great graphics but not the greatest of all game. I also miss fatalities, Babalities, Pts, Friendships, Brutalities, and of course my favorite - Mercy to Animality from MK3. WEEEEEEEEEEEEE still people if u dont have this game u should get it because of the graphics. IT might take a while to get used to if ur like me and played lot of mk3 anhialation. Lui KAng is dead in this game which isnt cool. THe fatalities in this game look better then the ones froom old game but it sucks cuz every1 player only has 1 and also there arnt that many moves a player can do. For X-Box i belive its best fighting game out so far but DOA3 come very close. Ok i dont kno wwhat else to write to make this 200 words but KABAL in MK3 had the best fatality when he took his mask off :) and scared the sh it of the eprson they were fighting

This is a great game! |
| Haider from United States,Michigan,Detroit,Macomb says (21/Dec/2003): |
Hey I love this game and I just got it!!!It has very good graphics, 3D effects, bloody action, hitting techniques, also back round music. It is totally awesome think everybody who plays Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance (MKDA) should be amazed by all its details. MKDA is the best game I ever played and my whole eternity. It is much better than the old Mortal Kombat I played! I love the characters, they are so powerful! I will conquer all their powers...I hope. Then the weapons.... don’t even get me started! They are totally cool! I want to unlock all the players and see all of their weapons. Man...I don't know what else to say...I mean.... it is really very great game! I am not kidding about this game. If you don't have one I suggest you get your body at the game store! I am sure they will have at least one (unless it is all out)! This game should be at the top of on every game list! You can even get a profile of your own! Also if you make a profile you can even get a code to protect anybody from getting in to your profile, it’s so cool:)

great game just lacking in areas |
| one eyed demon from new mexico usa! says (11/Dec/2003): |
some reviews for this game were not very flattering. I dont agree,i think the graphics the characters and the fighting styles were all great espesially the weapons! They definetely could have added some more fatalites and level fataalites!the thing that bothers me is how much trouble it is to unlock mokap and blaze! if any one knows a easier way im me at www.debidil< remove me > at excite.com! the level graphics were also really good when compared to other fighting that i have seen lately. if they would have made different fatalites when you unlock there alternate costumes that would have made up for only having the one fatality. And why so many coffins most of it does nothing for you it is mostly just pointless junk. I really cant figure out why they didnt use the game level fatalites like in the acid bath or the lava level. Or better yet why not have level fatalites on the hidden levels that you have to unlock? And what happened to all the really cool players like rain and baraka and sektor? Why take them out they were really good and millena and kobal!?!the game itself was great they just made some bad choices but the fights are actualy pretty intence and fast paced
|
It is ok |
| Travman from Glenwood City Wisconsin says (2/Dec/2003): |
MKDA is really good, but yes lets face it the game needs more fatallilys (I can't spell so good sorry). Babalities, and anamalitlys ect... Thought the graphics were great. I also like the Konquest. That helped me alot. I also like the Krypt also. But wow so many koffens and alot of them have nothing in them at all. What I can't beleave is how long it took to beat the game. It is really short. I mean it took me only ten to twelve hours to complete the game. That means unlocking all the koffens in the Krypt, seeing all the endings, and fighting with everyone with all the levels. The music is really really really good. It is a shame that there are no stage fatalies but oh well. I also really like the fact the all the characters have different fighiting styles. The weapons are so cool. Impaleing is a good way to kill some one. I also like the mini games such as "Test your Sight". I always win. The new characters are nice.So as the game is short you will probably be better off jst renting it at a store. All in all Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is a good game.

Where the hell is Motaro!?!?!?Rain!?!??bs... |
| Jose from Florida , United states. says (2/Dec/2003): |
Ahhh the game looks awesome.yeah great graphics extremely cool weapons but where the $#< remove me > at ! did they get a lizard as ugly as Reptile?lol seriously where the hell is the cool nija costume!?Rain!!a perfect and cool as$ ninja .where the hell, is he?i wish theyn would've made him.with a ninja suit as cool as scorpion's.yeah scorpion looks awesomly cool.now my favorite...SUBZERO!!!omg he looks like a god damn 106 year old man!wtf is that!?but yeah his alternative custume looks awesome..no doubt.if you know how to get Raiden and have actually gotten him and played with him.e-mail me at ruenes40< remove me > at hotmail.com.i did not liked this game because of the background fatalities...and c'mon!!what about the cool ass combos from mk2 and 3?where the hell are they?it was like 40 hits...now that was something to talk about.now a character who's alternative costume u should reallllyy get is Mavado's.awesome $#< remove me > at !.i like it a lot.i also liked the new subzero freezing moves.they look pimpin.a big fact why i did not liked this game is because u can't even get Moloch....i mean u can get his brother drahim but screw that.i'd be stumping every1's head with moloch's big ass ball baby.

MKDA still rocks |
| D-Rock from Canada says (27/Nov/2003): |
I really really liked the hard work that was abviously put into MKDA....It's abvious that they didn't just slap it together and toos it out to the public like many company's do with there games (Final fantasy for example, I HATE THAT CRAP)....But like the other people said....I really do miss the wider selections of fatality's and stuff.....and it would be alot better if finding all these characters didn't take so frikin long....but every game needs a challenge.....the weapons are awsome, the moves are awsome....and Bo'rai Chow makes me laugh like a retard every time he's on the screen....another constant annoyance of mine is the fact that getting platinum and silver is almost impossible unless your a MK master....but still whutever....I really enjoy the game and i'm really really waiting for the next one to come out.....AND GIVE US MORE CHICKS BABY.....YEA YEA

How to Unlock Frost |
| Corey Romine from Lancaster Ohio USA says (23/Nov/2003): |
The only way to unlock frost is to get 208 ruby coins and go to the crypt. Then go to the coffin that says IV in it.Once you open the coffin it will show a picture of her and it will say chrarcter frost unlocked. Then all you have to do is go to konquest mode and beat all her missions and you can use her in any mode of battle.Frost is an exellent chracter asside the fact that her most advanced combos are almost impossible to conquer. She can frezze to.I hope you all enjoy this hint on how to unlock The secret vhracter Frost

What the hell happend to mortal kombat? |
| Hades from Mpls MN says (8/Nov/2003): |
I have owned and played every single Mortal Kombat game.
This is by far the biggest piece of crap that Midway has ever released. One Fatality? No Stage Fatalities? What the hell were these guys thinking? MK's biggest attraction over the years has been the wonderful fatalities. Now we only get one per character? And $#< remove me > at !ty ones at that.
I'm reading threw these reviews and I see a ton of people that loved the game. I seriously doubt any of those people have ever played any previous MK release. If you don't own the game, DO NOT buy it, it's a complete waste of $.
If I could return my copy I would. Instead I think I will just burn it. I could go on and on about how disappointed I am with this game. I hope to god Midway pulls something out of their asses next time. MKDA is the biggest piece of crap I have ever played.
|
great but needs animalty and that crap |
| chris from utah, usa says (5/Nov/2003): |
this game is really awesome but it needs animalities and some cool stuff like that. That would be awesome if you could be moloch if there is some cheat like that you know e mail me.
even without that stuff it is still a pretty cool game overall so I am giving it a ten still
|
really good game |
| the papi chulo from Texas, USA says (26/Oct/2003): |
I think that mortal combat deadly allience is one of the best games. This game has really good graphics and the fatalities are just awesome. The only thing that is kind of annoying is the missions. But is a really good game. One of the things that i like is that each player has many kinds of movements and each player has a weapon.

The Very Best Game Ever And Always Will Be |
| Goes Posse from Goes, The Netherlands says (16/Oct/2003): |
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is just the very best game. Graphic perfection and sound. And the fighting styles look very real. I,ve played all the Mortal Kombat versions and aspecially Deadly Alliance. I have won tens of fights in a row on max. difficulty and wan't to get even better, but there's always more to learn and that makes Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance interesting. There are many things in the game to learn to become a perfect fighter and I like to achieve that goal. My favorite character is Sub-Zero because of his story and of course his agressive and devastating fighting styles. Other characters I like are Scorpion and Quan Chi, because of Scorpion's fighting styles are perfect simulated and Quan Chi's brutality. I also like the video clip. But there are some negative points I have to say. The not classic characters or weak personages, like Hsu Hao or Nitara. They doesn't fit in a tournament like Mortal Kombat. And Bo Rai Cho is a shame for the game. Where are the classic characters like Noob Saibot, Rain etc. What I also most say: What happend with Reptile, he doesn't look like the original Reptile. A positive point is the creation of the arena's, like the Nethership. If you have Dolby Surround sound you can hear the seagolfs coming to you, or in Shang Tsungs Palace you can hear the wisphering moving across the palace, from left to right ann from front to rear. Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance has some negative points but it is still the best game for me.

The Very Best Game |
| The MK-master from Amsterdam, Holland says (14/Oct/2003): |
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is a real top game. Graphic perfection, good story and most important: The perfection of the moves and fighting styles and the violence of course. I have spend months playing MK Deadly Alliance and the only thing I want is getting better and better and better. I have at least 100 victorys in a row with Sub-Zero my favorite character(no kidding) and still I am busy to get better, I want to become unbeatable. Scorpion an Quan Chi are also characters I like, because of Scorpions awesome moves and Quan Chi's extreme brutality. Only the not classic characters like Mavado, Li mei, Nitara, Dramhin, Hsu Hao have to piss of and especially Bo Rai Cho (piece of $#< remove me > at !). How dares he to call himself a master. They annoy me, they aren't worth fighting in a tournament like Mortal Kombat. So it is my pleasure to kick their ass and ripp their skeleton out of their bodies. But no offense, MK is still the nr.1 for me.

an argument for Mortal Kombat |
| Kevin Olmsted from El Paso,USA says (7/Oct/2003): |
Mortal Kombat 5. Or technically Mortal Kombat 8 if you count MK3 Ultimate, MK Trilogy, and MK Gold. I love Mortal Kombat more than any other game frachise out there. I grew up with it. I have followed the series into adulthood. I would give MK5 a 10 (like I would give almost every game in the series) but I'm realistic. A brief history if you will: MK1 was a brilliant game only in what it pioneered. The realistic violence, the fatalities and the use of real actors photographed as fighters (OK Pitfighter did it first but does anyone really acknowledge that game?). Otherwise the game was slow, had sluggish controls and no strategy. MK2 is in my opinion the best of the MK's. The action was sped up, more characters, more special moves, more fatalities and a little better strategy. More isn't always better but MK2 also took on a much darker look and feel and the story was better written. Graphics may have improved since MK2 but nothing matches the creativity that went into making MK2. MK3 had more, more more but it wasn't better. The game is much lighter literally and figuratively. Graphically it was a little better but the greyness of all the characters made it look bland. Massive improvements were much faster gameplay and combos. The RUN button left me unimpressed and I still rarely use it. MK3 Ultimate added jump-in combos (did that make the game cooler or cheaper?) more characters and a few darker levels. Fatalities were much less creative on both versions of MK3. MK4 had the same feel as MK3 only in 3D but few moves, few (and unoriginal) fatalities and VERY poorly rendered characters and environments had me wondering if this was it for MK. MK4 Gold ditto with more characters. MK5 is a breath of fresh air. It has all of the better elements of the previous games. It is dark and well rendered. I knew 3D was the inevitable way to go but MK4 had me doubting if MK could do it. The colors are vibrant and the beautiful character design harkens back to MK2. Controls are nice. The fatalities, while few, are almost operatic in their staging and execution. The different fighting styles and quest mode make the game needlessly complicated but overall it is a fun game. And fun is what it's all about, right? Here's my ranking: 1-MK2 2-MK5 3-MK3's 4-MK1 5-MK4
For the ultimate experience I recommend MK Trilogy. Pretty much all the characters from MK 1-3 crammed in one free-for-all. The Playstation version looks and sounds better with a few more characters but the load time will leave you wanting to gouge your eyes out. I recommend the N64 version for speed and sheer fun factor especially for parties. Let's hope MK6 is like MK Trilogy: strip it down to just the fighters and basic moves and no quest. And bring back some of the old fighters. Also on a side note what MK fan wouldn't shell out say $40 for a Gamecube compilation disc al la "Sonic Mega Collection" of the fist 3 or 4 MK's? HINT HINT Midway.

Great game but not to many fatalities |
| David Loucel from California says (24/Sep/2003): |
I like this game but they only have one fatality. I like the other Mortal Kombat's because they had better fatalities, animalities, babalities, and brutalities. But Mortal Kombat deadly alliance was the worse game ever.It has good graphics though.I hope they make another Mortal Kombat Game because when I buy it I hope it has better fatalities and more better skills.
