Love it and Hate it... |
| A.C. from USA says (26/Jan/2003): |
It's been a few years since I've gotten my MK fix and now that it's here, It's met with mixed results. Graphically speaking the game rocks, the animations are much more detailed sporting a much higher polygon count per charachter as compared to previous Mortal Kombat games. That however, is to be expected considering this new game is a first on next-gen platforms. Some of my old favorites are back including scorpion and Sub-Zero, but Lui Kang is killed off from the very beginning. Now, in itself MK Annihalation is a great game, with combos reversals, buckets and buckets of blood, and tons of codes. If you're looking for a good, solid fighter MK is what you're looking for. In fact, if you never played MK before you would have little to no complaints about this game. Ah, but then there are those of us that grew up with the series and have unrealistically high expectations of the game. We've been spoiled with multiple fatalities, dozens of charachters and more secrets than you can shake a spear at. I think in the next installment of MK they'll give us more of what we, the hardcore fans demand. By then they'll have the game's graphic engine down to a science, which translates into more moves, charachters, fatalities and (hopefull good endings) and secrets to unlock. So in all, the game falls short of it's fans expectations but if this game is new to you, you'll likely love it.

This Game Is By Far The Best!! |
| DJ Franciose from Providence, RI, USA says (4/Feb/2003): |
When I received this game, I wasn't too excited about it, but once I started playing it I was blown away by the graphics and the gameplay. Though I was disappointed that Liu Kang, Goro, and Shao Kahn aren't in the game, I was very impressed by the work put into this game. I have followed Mortal Kombat since the beginning and though this game didn't LOOK interesting, boy was I wrong! I hope that Midway continues the tradition that is Mortal Kombat.

Worth the money. Go buy it! |
| Christian from New York, USA says (9/Feb/2003): |
Mortal Kombat is back!!!!! I've been a hardcore MK fan since game 1, and I must say I was really impressed with the graphics and gameplay of Deadly Alliance. A whole new level of Mortal Kombat, it is far more darker and realistic than the previous MK games. I couldn't believe they had the guts to kill off my favorite character, Liu Kang. I thought Liu Kang's death was different in a good way. Of course there are a couple of setbacks like 1 fatality per character, no stage fatalities, Quan Chi's pointless fatality...and I was kind of disappointed with the Krypt because most of the time you wasted koins on a picture...I was pleased with the Konquest Mode because it was a good way to teach people how to use the 3 different fighting styles of the characters, which I love about the game! Mostly Kool characters. The storyline is excellent, I possibly wouldn't have been able to come up with a better Mortal Kombat game myself...Keep up the good work Midway!!!

kewl new characters, bad game play! |
| Chain Masta' from California, USA says (16/Mar/2003): |
This is a good game and all, with great characters, and awesome versus mode, and arcade. But the conquest, or konquest as it is spelt in the game(very corny) lacks fun. The first 20 or so parts are boring training, and at the time, i cant get past leason 11(i think) where i need to do some combo then two more attacks in the air... i hit the guy five times in the air after the combo, and it still wont let me pass. As i said before i like the new characters, (Kenshi reminds me of "Dare Devil" and Sub-Zero got a sister/girl friend (i dont know). So with the versus mode, arcade, and new characters, i got ta give it an 8 out of 10!

the netherealm is not enough |
| The Incredible Hulk from Lakeland, FL, USA says (17/Mar/2003): |
Well, overall it's an awesome game, graphics exellent, plenty of characters, awesome sound, great controls, fun factor through the roof, but for how long? I mean, the krypt is an awesome feature, but by the time you unlock everything in the krypt you've already done everything there is to do in the game. Once you finish with the krypt there really isn't anything else to keep you interested. The arcade part is short and easy and the endings are short and unexplanatory. There really should be something to keep gamers wanting to play MK:DA over and over again. thank you.

my 2nd reveiw my mind changed. |
| boi2003 from middlesbrough england united kingdom says (18/Apr/2003): |
its truly a great game but not as good as final fantasy or splinter cell. lu kang dieing and shao kahn it could give the next mortal combat game a twist like unlock lu kang/shao kahn ghost or spirit. i was extremely disapointed with the amount of charecters i mean wheres smoke wheres jade wheres emrac u would have heard all these charecters if u had trilogy. i was disapointed with fatalities theres gotta be more. and if u put fatalities like the one on deadly alliance put fatalities on a moves list cos i only know shang tsung. and the fatalities should be more exciting like not just pulling a head off theres gotta be better like slicing em and dicing into little squares. and i had an idea put another fighting style animals like scorpian fighting as the animal scorpian each fighting style should have its own fighting style. 7 stars is the best i can give it never give a game 10 stars cos it can always improve. i think an rpg version would improve its population and sales and gameplay.

The Very Best Game Ever And Always Will Be |
| Goes Posse from Goes, The Netherlands says (16/Oct/2003): |
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is just the very best game. Graphic perfection and sound. And the fighting styles look very real. I,ve played all the Mortal Kombat versions and aspecially Deadly Alliance. I have won tens of fights in a row on max. difficulty and wan't to get even better, but there's always more to learn and that makes Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance interesting. There are many things in the game to learn to become a perfect fighter and I like to achieve that goal. My favorite character is Sub-Zero because of his story and of course his agressive and devastating fighting styles. Other characters I like are Scorpion and Quan Chi, because of Scorpion's fighting styles are perfect simulated and Quan Chi's brutality. I also like the video clip. But there are some negative points I have to say. The not classic characters or weak personages, like Hsu Hao or Nitara. They doesn't fit in a tournament like Mortal Kombat. And Bo Rai Cho is a shame for the game. Where are the classic characters like Noob Saibot, Rain etc. What I also most say: What happend with Reptile, he doesn't look like the original Reptile. A positive point is the creation of the arena's, like the Nethership. If you have Dolby Surround sound you can hear the seagolfs coming to you, or in Shang Tsungs Palace you can hear the wisphering moving across the palace, from left to right ann from front to rear. Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance has some negative points but it is still the best game for me.

The very best MK yet but not flawless |
| Finger from Balk, Netherlands :D says (21/Feb/2003): |
The best thing about this game I think is the lifespan of this game, you keep discovering new things. When you mastered the first character and almost think of buying a new game you get interested in another character :D Then there is the Krypt where are 676 coffins to open and it takes a long time before you'll open em all. The arena's are very diferce the only bad thing about them is that there's no stage fatality. The sound is great it gives the real MK feel as the previous versions wich is a good thing. The only flaws in the game are the glitches in the graphics but hell you won't even notice them during the fight if you do you'll get your ass kicked :D And it's a shame that each character has only one fatality and some of them really suck, only take quan chi's that's a really bad one. But it's a must have game and I think it deals out a real fatality to the other fighting games at the moment.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES !!!!!!!! |
| A gamer from USA says (26/Jul/2003): |
this game's so cool!I liked this game beacause it has tight graphics & it has hell a cool combos!!!the only bad thing is that liu kang died but in the end,he was alive but he was in kano's body. The only thing that sucked is that there's only one fatlality & no babalities, brutalities & friendships. My 1 & only favorite character is kung lao because he has heck a long combos & really tight sword combos.Isn't it tight!Oh yeah,um readers im only 11 years old & i could beat my big brrother!

A game worth buying! |
| UnLegend from Mount Airy, NC, USA says (17/Apr/2004): |
I'll be honest, I'm a long standing fan of the series but I haven't played and mastered every Mk. The first one still brings back fuzzy memories of needless bloodshed, I'm pretty sure I played the second one and maybe the third or fourth but this is the second one I've actually purchased. I consider myself a bit of a gamer, 'oldschool' is great but seriously oldschool is 'oldschool' because 'newschool' just hadn't been thougt of when 'oldschool' was still at it's peak. Deadly Alliance takes the great characters I loved (or liked rather) and just makes 'em more badass. Quite frankly the Cooking with Scorpion video was worth the money I put in it by itself. It's more challenging than the others, sure there are fewer fatalities but the animalities were a little over the top anyway, a few characters are missing and whoever thought of changing reptile needs his ass kicked but at the end of the day I'm rather pleased with it. And really, isn't that all that really matters? Seriously I'm asking if something matters more tell me so I can stop wasting my life and begin this more fulfilling regimine.

What a Game! |
| John Wright from Edwardsburg, MI, USA says (25/May/2004): |
The stages are awsome, characters are sweat, moves are beyond tight! But what happened to the fatalites and stage fatalites! And the graphics are so so so tight! I wish the fatalites would come back! I loved the fatalites! But I can deal with it. Why doesn't Sub-Zero have a mask? Scorpion does and Sub-Zero had a mask in MK,MK1,MK2,MK3,and MK4! And he doesn't have one in this one. Come on. Anyway I cant figer-out how to use fatalites! I have a X-Box and I dont know what buttens to push to use a fatalites. The graphics are so cool! And Sub-Zero looks so cool but he needs a mask. When I got MK it was awsome and to see how much MK has evolved to MKDA. I mean its just so cool. And thank you for keeping Sub-Zero and Scorpion! There the best characters I think. I cant wait for the next Mortal Kombat to come out. I love the Kori Blade for Sub-Zero. It was so cool. And you can stick blades through people. Its so funny! And the moves are so funny for the trainer. Like he throughs up on you and farts in the middle of a attack. Lol. And the movie "Cooking With Scorpion" is so funny! I give it a thumbs up!

where are all the fatalities and cheats |
| Jason from Rome, GA says (5/Dec/2002): |
This game is nothing like I thought it would be. The graphic are good but I think tekken and virtual fighter grapics are a lot better. The game does not seem to be as fluid as tekken or virtual fighter. The combos seem to be more like specal moves instead of combos. But I could live with all that if they would of had more fatalites and cheats. Only one fatality per charcter and almost all of them include knocking somebodys head off.At least have away to knock them out of the ring into something that kills them. All in all very disappointed

Not MK Anymore |
| disapointed from Australia says (11/Mar/2003): |
Ok. Bought this game on the release date as I've done with all previous MK games. While it is a great fighting game, it just isn't a MK game anymore (my opinion) The three fighting style thing is a great idea but the basic MK moves: Uppercut, roundhouse, flips, flykicks, etc don't exist. While it can be seen that alot of effort went into some characters (Scorp, Sub, Frost, Kenshi, etc), it can also be seen that less went into others (Hso Hao, Drahmin, etc) makes me sick to even look at those characters. Enough has been said of the sad (and lack of) fatalities. Sadly MK is just becoming yet another fighting game with a little more blood than the rest. And of course has great graphics and sound, all new games do and that doesnt make it a good game, very disapointed compared to earilier MK's. While I'm at it I'll bitch about the boss(s) MK1,2,3 had a unique FINALL boss that wasn't playable what is going on?? Yes Quan-Chi and Shang-Tsung are evil characters but are they bosses? NO. There should be someone unique as boss... slack.

The Very Best Game |
| The MK-master from Amsterdam, Holland says (14/Oct/2003): |
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is a real top game. Graphic perfection, good story and most important: The perfection of the moves and fighting styles and the violence of course. I have spend months playing MK Deadly Alliance and the only thing I want is getting better and better and better. I have at least 100 victorys in a row with Sub-Zero my favorite character(no kidding) and still I am busy to get better, I want to become unbeatable. Scorpion an Quan Chi are also characters I like, because of Scorpions awesome moves and Quan Chi's extreme brutality. Only the not classic characters like Mavado, Li mei, Nitara, Dramhin, Hsu Hao have to piss of and especially Bo Rai Cho (piece of $#< remove me > at !). How dares he to call himself a master. They annoy me, they aren't worth fighting in a tournament like Mortal Kombat. So it is my pleasure to kick their ass and ripp their skeleton out of their bodies. But no offense, MK is still the nr.1 for me.

How to Unlock Players |
| Sarah from Iowa says (14/Aug/2003): |
In order to unlock players you need to earn the coins in Training and Combat ect. Then go to the Krypt and unlock all the high priced koffins to get costumes and Fighters. Some are empty so beware. This game has awesome graffics and moves. Once you get all the players complete the training to get even more Koffins!
|
The best game yet |
| GameGuardian from Harrisonburg, USA says (21/Nov/2002): |
This is one of the best fighting games ever made, with excellent graphics, gameplay, sound, and overall fun. This is a must have game for anyone who hasn't got it, and it is also a great reason to buy the PS2. The only draw back is the way to unlock characters which you will have to earn coins to go to the Krypt and search for them out of 676 coffins which can be very time consuming. That has to be the only difficult part of the game, PLUS the music video for the game has also been included, there are also a lot of other goodies included to keep you playing or watching for hours on end.

Dis is one Bad-Motha |
| Daniel Daake from Bartlesville, ok, usa says (22/Nov/2002): |
OMG!!! I can't believe my eyes. Its Mortal Kombat reborn. This realistic 3-D, fight game is da shiznit. Midway awsome job in coding this game. If you like the dicing and slicing fight games this is the one to get. Has everything from 3 different fighting styles, while you are fight, to the best FINISHING MOVES i have ever seen. I have been a Mortal Kombat fan sense the very first one came out and now that this one came out, 24/7 game play, kinda forgot about school, didnt know it existed, but everything is so realistic cant believe the attari even existed. I have to give this game a 10 out of 10 not just because the fighting is awsome but the different modes like "konquest", where you have to earn points to buy graves out of the "Krypt", which contain pictures, characters, bonus material and ect. keeps you playin the game for weeks. Good job Midway!
