great but needs animalty and that crap34762

chris from utah, usa says (5/Nov/2003):
this game is really awesome but it needs animalities and some cool stuff like that. That would be awesome if you could be moloch if there is some cheat like that you know e mail me.
even without that stuff it is still a pretty cool game overall so I am giving it a ten still

Funnest MK yet...37936

Angelus from Apple Valley, CA USA says (5/Jan/2004):
The MK series finally takes a step back and goes back to its roots. Personally, I think the Babalities and all that other crap in the other games was just not needed and some of the extra Fatalities were just plain goofy. Many others might disagree with this, but I stand firm on my opinion.
The new fighting stances, I think, are really cool. The weapons are a nice touch, even though a 'Button-Masher' has beaten me several times just using this stance.
The character models are well done (I really enjoy the bouncing booby effect, its not as extreme as DOA) and the portraits are just awesome. I especially like the bruises and cuts on the face after a match. The bloody footprints are nice as well.

Overall, this game is really great, it could have been one of the greatest. I only have 3 real problems with this game:

1- The control pad (not the joystick) on the Gamecube controller is kind of small making some moves and Fatalities rather difficult to perform and you can't choose to use the joystick.

2- The Krypt is way too big and it takes way too much time to unlock everything. I appreciate the extra content (or should I say 'Kontent') and a lot of it is really cool, but to play the game enough to get the amount of Koins it takes... wow, that's a lot of gaming hours.

3- Where's the Pit?

And here's my last complaint; actually it's more of an inquerie than anything: Where's Johnny's 'cluster-smasher'?

Awsome, but needs more fatalities40891

Tito from Darmstadt, Germany says (16/May/2004):
The game itself is awesome yeah one of my favorite fighting games of all time. But come on, 1 fatality, and not even one for the secret characters, what happened to the classical 2 or 3 fatalities with the additional anamalities, brutalities, babalities, friendships, and all the other fun extras!!! I miss the stage fatalities too, but this game has awesome graphics, beyond belief, with cool endings, and funny extras. Even though there are only 1 fatality per person, there pretty darn good, o wait except Quanchis, o god, what the F^%$ is stretching your opponents neck and leaving them to die, come on! Over all the game is really fun, challenging, and has some cool characters, weapons, and fighting styles. I would recomend you spend your money on this game so you can call your buddy and tell him to come over and kick his butt! Its also cool to work on your skills at practice, and the secret characters are not bad either, except for the fact that they have no fatalities!!! Thats what drives me nuts sometimes, when they take out some of the best things in a game. All right thats all for me im out, find me on Xbox live at my account way2nazT4u, peace!

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?????40545

Jesse from Melbourne, Australia says (20/Apr/2004):
Where do i start?? Wheres the run button, wheres the anamalities, brutalities, babalities, wheres smoke, wheres all there moves?????
They took the only fun fighting game left and made it another teken! I hope Ed Boon realises what he's done, two special moves each player, come on what he hell is that. I'm very dissaponted, the only good thing to come out of deadly alliance is the classic TEST YOUR MIGHT segment, other then that its TEKEN. The only thing that make this right is if they make a public apology. I don't know what else to write just NOT HAPPY JAN. Lets talk about the characters, RAYDEN: No back back forwad move, JAX: No back breaker, SUB-ZERO: No slide, SMOKE: No SMOKE how can ya have a mortal kombat with no smoke, noobasaibot (Bad Spelling) wheres noobasaibot, no montaro, no goro, no night wolf man there no goodies, and who's this blind guy??? dont bring in more players just bring back the oldies.. If you agree or dissagree let me know write to me and give your opinion, i'll be waiting for the next one hopefully it will be worth the couple years wait. thanks for reading

No pit and one fatality come on.15433

Wes Goza from Sherman Texas US. says (14/Jan/2003):
This game is one of the best fighting games ever accept its lacking one key affect (death). Come on one fatality and no pits
thats the only complaints I have. All in all the game play is great and the fun factor rocks. Next I would like to say the new caracters are great Dramin is a little wierd though, but Kenshi and Frost are cool. Finally the graphics are really nice and the music is good too, but leaving out some key characters such as Lui kang and Smoke really downs all my freinds and they turn in to a bunch of MK critics. P.S maybe Ed Boon will read this and on the next Mortal Kombat he will implement more killing type moves, but that will probally be in 3-5 years away.

Pretty good actually16434

Greg from NY USA says (27/Jan/2003):
Yes the others were better but i do enjoy this game very much with the challenges to unlock other characters and their old school costumes. Now to answer a few questions. They didn't put in Noob Saibot because Ed boon didn't help make this game! Noob Saibot was come up with by Ed Boon and Tobias (Hence Boon= Noob and Tobias= Saibot. Noob Saibot!) Smoke I don't know, if you recall he was a robot like Cyrax but I think he's dead anyway. I like how your unlocking things now instead of jsut using codes to play hidden characters. They couldn've done more with the endings such as making them videos!!! and make one more fatality, Babalities and animalties were stupid. (Scorpion was a lion? Reptile a monkey? WTF!) Friendships would've been nice but this game was probably to gory for it. But if your a Mk fan you gotta have this game!

a very brittish review17792

phil geldart from Wrexham, Wales, Great britain says (18/Feb/2003):
lets get one thing clear before we go any further. this is the best mortal kombet of the series- i.e, very, VERY good. the various fighting styles, added to the whole 'outworld/earthrealm' backdrop just at to the character of the game. good points in brief- class combo system, and a good variety in styles and moves. bad points in brief- lazy graphics, lack of options when it comes to fatalities, konquest should be more like the the one in soul calibre/blade, and what is going on with bo' rai cho? get him outta there, asap!

Somewhat disappointing.17968

Gary LaPlant from Aberdeen, South Dakota, USA says (21/Feb/2003):
Overall I was kinda disappointed at the fact that there wasn't a lot of attention paid to the details in the game. For example most of the fatalities are pretty simple. The only fatality that met my expectations was Raiden's. Shang Tsung's fatality was along the right lines, but I could've done without the green waves being being shot at his victims. I think they should've just stuck with having his victim glowing green kinda like when Kenshi does his telekenetic toss, and when he pounces on his victim to steal their souls it should've caused every limb to explode, including the head, and blood blood should've shot out of every part. But I could sit here and knitpick every little detail that was overlooked, and everything that could've been done to make the game a phenomenon. It seems to me that the midway team that put this together could've used some help in making it a complete success. But I've gotta say that I really enjoy the game and the graphics really kick a**. If you (Midway) are planning on making another, maybe you should give me a holler. That is if you want the game to be the best video game ever made. And that ain't no joke!!

There's even a discussion?18994

A gamer from Boston, MA, USA says (9/Mar/2003):
MKDA is far and away the best installment of the series. The others don't even come close. the addition of fighting styles gives the game more depth than I know what to do with. The special moves are interesting and well balanced. So what if there is only one fatality. I thought the whole point of video games was interaction. If I wanted to wetch bloody gore, I'd rent Dead Alive. People who buy the MK series because of fatalities are missinfg the point. It's fun to beat the brap out of stuff.

Mortal Kombat is awesome!!!!!!20321

Lord blackhart from Glascow, VA, US says (31/Mar/2003):
I bought Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance about 7 months ago and I'm still playing it! It's a great game. The graphics are awesome, the three fighting style thing was a great idea, and (sorry all you Lu kang fans) Lu kang is dead!!! Ha hahahah Now evil will surely provail. Yeah there is a down side though... Not enough fatalities! More death, more death, but the fighting styles, characters, and the krypt are pretty cool. I'm satisfied!

Best game ever invented28329

Matt from Glennwood, GA says (21/Jul/2003):
This game was awesome summary of what really goes behind closed doors of the making of MKDA, but the only problem is one fatality per person, and the forgotten animality fatalities. I give the game a 9 because i hope the next MK will bring back some old stuff and come in with more new.

an argument for Mortal Kombat33067

Kevin Olmsted from El Paso,USA says (7/Oct/2003):
Mortal Kombat 5. Or technically Mortal Kombat 8 if you count MK3 Ultimate, MK Trilogy, and MK Gold. I love Mortal Kombat more than any other game frachise out there. I grew up with it. I have followed the series into adulthood. I would give MK5 a 10 (like I would give almost every game in the series) but I'm realistic. A brief history if you will: MK1 was a brilliant game only in what it pioneered. The realistic violence, the fatalities and the use of real actors photographed as fighters (OK Pitfighter did it first but does anyone really acknowledge that game?). Otherwise the game was slow, had sluggish controls and no strategy. MK2 is in my opinion the best of the MK's. The action was sped up, more characters, more special moves, more fatalities and a little better strategy. More isn't always better but MK2 also took on a much darker look and feel and the story was better written. Graphics may have improved since MK2 but nothing matches the creativity that went into making MK2. MK3 had more, more more but it wasn't better. The game is much lighter literally and figuratively. Graphically it was a little better but the greyness of all the characters made it look bland. Massive improvements were much faster gameplay and combos. The RUN button left me unimpressed and I still rarely use it. MK3 Ultimate added jump-in combos (did that make the game cooler or cheaper?) more characters and a few darker levels. Fatalities were much less creative on both versions of MK3. MK4 had the same feel as MK3 only in 3D but few moves, few (and unoriginal) fatalities and VERY poorly rendered characters and environments had me wondering if this was it for MK. MK4 Gold ditto with more characters. MK5 is a breath of fresh air. It has all of the better elements of the previous games. It is dark and well rendered. I knew 3D was the inevitable way to go but MK4 had me doubting if MK could do it. The colors are vibrant and the beautiful character design harkens back to MK2. Controls are nice. The fatalities, while few, are almost operatic in their staging and execution. The different fighting styles and quest mode make the game needlessly complicated but overall it is a fun game. And fun is what it's all about, right? Here's my ranking: 1-MK2 2-MK5 3-MK3's 4-MK1 5-MK4
For the ultimate experience I recommend MK Trilogy. Pretty much all the characters from MK 1-3 crammed in one free-for-all. The Playstation version looks and sounds better with a few more characters but the load time will leave you wanting to gouge your eyes out. I recommend the N64 version for speed and sheer fun factor especially for parties. Let's hope MK6 is like MK Trilogy: strip it down to just the fighters and basic moves and no quest. And bring back some of the old fighters. Also on a side note what MK fan wouldn't shell out say $40 for a Gamecube compilation disc al la "Sonic Mega Collection" of the fist 3 or 4 MK's? HINT HINT Midway.

My god!41157

Sean Flindt from Vancouver, Washington, USA says (4/Jun/2004):
Okay it looks great and the fighting is pretty pretty intense. The addition of weapons is really nice, but WHERE THE HELL IS EVERYBODY! I've been playing MK since it first came out in arcades. Where's all the guys from MK 1, 2, and 3. Lu Kang, Shao Khan, Striker, Noob Saibot, Rain, Kabal, Smoke, Sector, Jake, Mellena, Barraka, Night Wolf, Motaro, Syndel, Goro, the real Reptile, and Ermac are all missing. WTF! I can understand Goro and the few others I didn't mention, but why take out all the ninjas. The worst part is the fact that Lu Kang, Barraka, and Kabal were taken out. I know Lu Kang always won, but the whole deal with MK when it came out (unlike its competitors such as Teken) is that is was just blood and guts with no real plot. It was a hack and slash game. Now they try to make it some kinda RPG (which are awesome, but not appropreate for this kinda game). I'm returning this game and busting out my MK3! If you have never played MK before than by all means try it out. There's a good chance you'll like it. If You liked all of the old school guys than start dusting off your old systems cause your gonna be using them.

This game needs some stuff......41159

Chris from U.S.A georgia,Lawrenceville says (4/Jun/2004):
I'ts kind of weird that the regular games include raiden, reptile, jax, kitana, and cyrax but in M.K.D.A you need to buy those characters, test you might and test your sight are nice mini-games but I have trouble beating diamond.I've beaten all test your sight levels.Another question is why is konquest so easy? And why is there so many of them? You get mokap and blaze after beating all of konquest,on character select highlight raiden and hold down on pad and press the A button,do the same on cyrax to get mokap. Why when you fatality cyrax you see body parts and bones fly out?The game definently needs, liu kang, shinnok, both smokes, sektor, nightwolf, kabal, rain and needs the rest of the old people. If the movies are based on the games then why isn't johny cage dead?Mortal Kombat deception(next mortal kombat game)needs people falling in spikes or acid, animality, friendship, brutality and needs 2 fatalities per character. This game does kick a$$ in graphix and the fighting styles are a hit.Best part is that all of the combos are f< remove me > at $#< remove me > at ** awesome!!!!!Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance has made excellent games every couple of years this year they have done a good job!Just try not to forget some of the the many tips that I gave you.

Midway, you've dispointed us!!!.28453

MK fan from T.O Canada---->scarborough chester C says (23/Jul/2003):
The game is fun at first because MK has never had weapons, this much blood, or stunning graphics. however, any true MK fan will hate this game because it's not true Mortal Kombat. 1 fatality per character? what the f*$# is that. i can live without animalities, babalities, and freindships but is there even background fatalities. There has been background fatalities in every MK game so far(the bridge in MK 1&2 beeing the best).I'm still convinced that there are background fatalities and i just haven't found out how to do them yet so if any body knows then e-mail me at special_k_guy< remove me > at hotmail.com. And where are all the great characters like smoke, lui kang, Kabal etc. i would recomend this game to someone who has never played a MK game before(not including MK4 cause that game sucked too) to rent this game but any true fan will hate it.
