no codes28612

Pewp E. Fayse from Pennsylvania, USA says (25/Jul/2003):
Nhl 2k3 is a very good game especially for gamecube, but there are no codes. Nhl 2k3 is fun, but it would be more fun if there were some cheats. It is fun to play games where you don't have to play by the laws of nature, such as big heads, munchkins, fast players etc.. The game is realistic which is fun but can get boring after a while. The franchise part of this game is unrealistic after a season people retire, but most of the time the people who retire are young rookies 19 years old. Also most of the great players retire so after about six seasons in franchise the best players are 80-87 overall. In franchise the other teams won't make fair trades, for example you have to trade a first round draft pick and a second round draft pick for a first round draft pick, also you need to trade someone who's overall rating is 94 for someone who's rating is 90. When you turn injuries on high you can injure about 8 people on your team just by getting checked, but you can hook a player every time he gets the puck and he won't even be out for a day. Goalies never get injured even if you charge them about 20 times. nobody good is ever a free agent. The best free agent I ever got was craig billington and he couldn't stop some of the easiest shots on rookie difficulty against a defensemen. Even players like martin brodeur and patrick roy let some easy goals through. If a player gets injured they still get to play in the game. Some players like dennis siodenberg, who is on the german team, can't be signed to a team. An easy way to get 16 first round draft picks is to sign many free agents. Then, trade 2 at a time to another team for 1 second round draft pick and a fourth round draft pick(if they accept). Keep doing this with other teams until you have as many second and fourth round draft picks as you can before they start denying your trades (when they deny your offer go sign more free agents and try trading with a different team). When you have 16-18 draft picks trade 2 second round picks for a first round pick (if they deny that give them the 2 second round draft picks and a fourth round pick). Keep doing that until you have all first round picks, then get more free agents and repeat what you did in the first place until you have 16 first round picks you can then trade a free agent who's rating is 60 or higher and four or more of your first round picks for someone who's rating is 99 at the same position. Finally I think that you should be able to unlock secrets in the game such as new stadiums and funny players. Overall nhl 2k3 is a really good game.

Great Game....but....19562

Matt from Barrie, Ontario, Canada says (19/Mar/2003):
This game is by far more phenomenal than NHL 2003. However, NO game to date has made a Stanley Cup celebration worth watching. Why do they spend so much time on gameplay and graphics, than they do on the big ending? If you slave through 82 season games, and up to 28 additional playoff games, for a crappy little ten second thing, where's the pay off?

Jay from Canada says (11/Feb/2003):
This game with no problom can beat out NHL 2003 (even though EA sports is really good I know as a fact that SEGA and ESPN went all out to the top and they could even improve!(wait for next years as I think SEGA will provide an even better edition I know they will but this year there the Champion (no doubt about it)

Need We Say More14680

Riffter from Cherry Hill , NJ says (3/Jan/2003):
ITs easily hands down probably not just the best hockey , but proably the best overall game for a gaming system to date. Its all about gameplay & realism. This game nails it all except for the fighting. IS it me or is it like impossible to start a fight. HInt sega there is FIGHTING in hockey :P.

Awesome game!!!13504

OSoot from DC USA says (25/Dec/2002):
I'm going to say this game is great. I don't have enough room to write about everything I like about it so I'll write about the ONLY thing I don't like. It is too difficult to tell who has the puck. The black circle around the player just doesn't do it for me. I like EA's way of doing this better. Other than that, the game is flawless!!!

Take it from a guy who knows hockey games........13138

Woody from London, Ontario, Canada says (18/Dec/2002):
First off let me say that I've played virtually every video hockey game there ever was going right back to Coleco/Atari to Ice Hockey on NES to EA's NHL for Sega Genesis. Anyway, enough about me...........

Gameplay........9.8/10
I have never played any hockey game that is so smooth and REALISTIC as NHL2K3 for the PS2. The hitting is ruthless as evry check reminds me off the Scott Stevens hit on Eric Lindros 2 years ago. The goalie movements are phenomonal (I can't stress this enough), and the player movements and shots are pristine. The in front of the net action sequences are just insane with the clanging of the puck hitting both posts and sputtering out from a just off shot. And for the first time a game that allows you to tip in shots from the point with pin point accuracy. The game actually lets you adjust a phenomanal amount of attributes such as puck friction, goalie skill, game speed, rebound, shot-block etc. The AI is the smartest to date. The cpu can do any dipsy doodle move that you can think of and will embaress even the best of us when we're off our game. (see difficulty rating under playability). The only reason I'm not giving it a 10/10 is because the fighting is virtually non-existent and we're probably all better off as it is rather poor at that. The only other weakness here is the option menus. Doing something as simple as changing your goalie can give you a headache.

Graphics..................9.8/10.
I really don't need to say anything here. I wasn't nearly good enough an English student to write anything that can do justice in this area, you just have to see it for yourself. To sum it up think of the newest EA games and if you think they are good then you will go crazy when you see this game. Only drawback is the players faces are a little plain in close ups. Man the ice looks fantastic !!!! It's like a mirror !!!

Sound................7/10
The games only weakness. The in game sounds are great and very realistic and the crowd is also fine. However, the announcers make me want to hurt myself so I simply turn them down. It also would have been nice to hear some "real music tracks" like the EA series have.

Lifespan.............9.9/10
This game will never get boring. And you can adjust the difficulty level to the point were the cpu will score on you every shot if you think you need a better challenge. Also has a built in feature to check how good you are online compared to other players. I'd give it a perfect score but lets face it they come out with a new one every year!!!!!

Overall.................9.8/10
It's second to none my friends. I challenge anybody to say otherwise.
