Hooked on it in minutes! |
| Zeke from Williston, VT says (18/Sep/2003): |
I rented it for three days along with two other games. I played the other two first but soon got bored. After only two races I decided this was a game to buy. When i went to buy it I saw Thunder 2003 and decided to get it instead. It wasn't nearly as good as Dirt to Daytona so the next day i went and got it too. One of the features I liked better was the analoge throttle. this makes it much easier to take corners smoothly. I also was astounded by the career mode. When you race a weekend you don't just qualify and race, there's practice, happy hour, qualify, and if your not happy with were you place you can restart the weekend before you race. I'm also a fan of the unlockables. Unlocking tracks and deivers gets boring but when you can unlock things like "Small Cars" and "Big Suspension" the fun never ends. Something I would change would be; add the Busch series, use the real sponsers and just change the rating and credits to fit, and try to enhance the graphics like making the drivers look different for each car and make the pit crew look human not like robots. I do like the replays, the only way to make them better would be a more flexible camera.

Nascar dirt to daytona is awsome |
| A gamer from Stoughton WI, USA says (11/Sep/2003): |
I think Nascar Dirt To Daytona is the BEST RACING GAME!!!!!!!!! Nascar Thunder is only better for it graphis. The only thing that i would cange on the game is that the divisions you would go through in order are the simple dirt cars, then dirt modifieds, then the regular featherlite modifieds, then my favorite late models, then it would be nascar craftsman truck series, then i would add the nascar busch series, and of course have the great nascar winston cup series.

One of the BEST in a long time |
| Kenny Akers from Middletown, Ohio. USA says (22/Aug/2003): |
I've played them all. And this one is awesome. You start from the bottom and earn your way to the big show. It's only miss was that it didn't have Busch series. But the trill of hitting Jeff Gordon into the wall is great. And taking sponsors on a deals is why this is good. But you better be good or your sponsor will drop you.

Fun game, but it could have been better. |
| A gamer says (30/Jul/2003): |
This is a very fun game. The career mode is incredible, and the fast action has unlockables, Beat the Heat scenarios, Pro Trainer, and Championship mode. The game did have some problems. Twenty of the Cup cars are made up and they call them "Cup" cars because they have to censer the Winston part of the name. Also for drivers like Hermie Sadler, Dale Earnheardt Jr., Rusty Wallace, and Sterling Marlin have self-sponsered cars. Also, the rearview mirror doesn't show detail like wall marks, damage, tire tracks, and more. Also there are a lot invisible walls. The strange thing though, is that you make wall marks on invisible walls. This is still a good game.

Dirt to Daytona is comparable to thunder 2002 with the realism I would like to see in all NASCAR games! |
| Johnb138 from Springfeild,USA says (29/Dec/2002): |
The graphics and sound reminded me a lot of NASCAR Thunder 2002. Lets start with the graphics. They aren't too bad like I said they are comparable with the NASCAR Thunder series from last year. I however wasn't too impressed with the sound. The motors sounded ok but the collisons were bad enough to laugh about, I was slightly impressed by the scream of the tires when I got sideways for the first time I couldn't believe how closely the sound resembled what you would hear watching a televised race on sunday. Now for the esence of the game. The gameplay. At first I was disappointed until I raced at Talledega and Dayton and I was BLOWN AWAY. This was the first time I ever played a NASCAR game where in the restrictor plate races the cars actually formed a pack trying to stay in the draft so as not to be left behind, This was the best surprise for me. They also added the dirt track weekly series, the modified open wheeled series, and the Craftsman truck series. In the career setting you have to advance through all the series, In other words You have to start from scratch in your own garage and progress to the top and it isn't an easy thing to do considering money is docked in the lower difficulty settings but you are generously rewardes in the higher difficulties. With five differant difficulty setting no matter how good you are you will be challenged. I found the first two settings to be way to easy but this wasn't my first NASCAR game, they should be perfect for a beginner though. When you get experienced enough you can try to setup your own car. Don't ask me I have been playing nascar games for a couple of years now but the realistic detail in this game has thrown me through a loop, What works in the NASCAR Thunder games most likly won't work in Dirt to Daytona. In a nutshell this would be the best nascar game out there if they could get a few more of the NASCAR tracks and made a couple of tweaks the the graphics and sound. All in all for gameplay and replayability I give it a 8.9 for graphics 8.5 sound 7.5 and a 9.5 for realism(an average of 8.6). Although I have never raced a stock car I bet this is pretty close to how it feels. I own it and any NASCAR game fan should too

Great game...few flaws |
| RiddleAirman from Florida says (23/Nov/2002): |
I really enjoyed the game. The progresion through diffrent ranks of the Nascar series was a unique look and a racing game. The control for the GC was right on and very easy to use. The graphics and sound were mediocre at best, but the gameplay more than makes up for it. I would recommend it to any Nascar fan, better than Thunder? Maybe...it is faster and easier to pick up. The frame-rate is nice and the game offers a lot. Give it a try.
