Special Game | | Joniel from N. Hollywood, USA says (18/Mar/2004): | Wow!!! This game has all the sonic games for genesis and also movies and art. I should say"this is a great sonic game for people who havent had a genesis and lost and crushed thier dreams of genesis today." But Now this game will not only bring back memories, but also bring people's lost and crushed dreams back of 16-bit wonder games of the one and only sonic. But soon, I think that there will be more sonic games to come in the USA..................... .(and maybe another sonic movie and more acssesories to come here )...........What I'm trying to say is that this game will be the greatest game to bring back memories............
| Sonic Schooling 101 | | Chris G from Indianapolis says (8/Jan/2004): | A Sonic blast to the past where Sonic was in his prime and there wern't any treasure hunting levels! All 7 of the classic Genesis games as well as the Sonic and Knuckles lock-on bonsuses and Flicky and Ristar to top it off. With this, the Game Gear games on Sonic Adventure DX, and the two Adventure games, all we need are ports of Sonic CD and Knuckles Chaotix, and we're in the business. The Sonic legeacy on one little cube! Great for newbies to the universe and hard-core manaics like me who know every aspect, nook, cranny and code!
| A trip down nostalgia lane! | | David P from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada says (6/Dec/2003): | I am 18 years old, and I remember as a young lad, I would go over to my friends house and we would play Sonic 2 head to head. As I have always been a Nintendo guy, Sonic was never that available for me, until I bought myself a Gamecube. This is the first game I bought, and it is one hell of a collection! 7 original Sonic the Hedgehog games, with five more hidden games to unlock. What a deal! When I first popped this game in, I was worried that the quality would not be up to my expectations. I was blown away at how great the old Genesis games look. Each one looks exactly the way they did on their original systems! But the icing on the cake for me is the unlockable games. You can unlock an option that lets you play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 and 3. Knuckles was a character I've never played, and he's loads of fun. Also, in the extras menu, there are videos of other Sonic games, such as Sonic Sega CD, Sonic Advance 2 and Sonic Battle 2. Oh, and in the "manual" section, you can view all of the original manuals released with each respective game. How cool is that? If you are a Sonic fan, you have to buy this game. If you don't have a Gamecube, all I can say is: "GET ONE!"
| Butt kicking undertaking Sonic battle of my life!!!! | | Galo Hernandez from GA,U.S.A says (26/Sep/2003): | This game is awesome!I have all games, comics, and codes!I'd give it 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars if I could.I can't even count that much.I love the graphics in this game.I know how to turn to super sonic on Sonic the Hedgehog 3!(not Sonic3& Knuckles). It's simple, just collect all 7 emeralds when you do,it should say,"Sonic Super is Ready to go!",than collect 50rings+ and press the A button 2X.Sonic should turn gold and is faster, jumps very high, immortal,(can only die by getting crushed or falling in a opening).Note!,every second you'll lose 1 coin collect rings fast. While your in Super mode, after you get out of a bonus stage you will be normal Sonic. After collecting all emeralds, something strange will happen. When you go to a spot where a giant ring was before, when you get it there will be no bonus game but you'll get 50rings.
| 12 Genesis games for a great collection | | Victro from Fairborn, OH USA says (4/Aug/2003): | Sonic Mega Collection is a collection of some of the Sega Genesis games. It also has special things. For example, pictures, characters, and comic covers. You can also view special movies. This has a lot of games. Unfortunately, it does not have Sonic CD. I have it for the PC. So, here it goes. There are twelve Sega Genesis games: Sonic Spinball, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 the Hedgehog, Sonic 3 the Hedgehog and Knuckles, Knuckles in Sonic 2, Blue Sphere, Flicky, Ristar the Shooting Star, Sonic and Knuckles, and Sonic 3D Blast.
Sonic Spinball is a pinball game. This is better than the Game Gear one. (Refer to Sonic Adventure DX Director’s Cut.) It has some pretty cool stuff on it, although it is mostly luck if you can complete the game. I am going to try to complete this game later. (Right now I’m working on Sonic the Hedgehog.) The graphics and music are good for Sega Genesis. It has an okay multi-player as well. Overall, it is a good game.
Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine is a sort of Dr. Mario game. The thing you’re really in for in this game is the multi-player. It is superb, and it is as good as the old Nintendo Dr. Mario. I have completed the one player on easy. It was great. There is an also an excellent training mode. The speed is based on how well you are doing. The graphics are excellent, and the music superb. An overall rating would be a superb, in my opinion.
Sonic the Hedgehog was the first Sonic game ever created. The one on Sega Genesis is better than Game Gear. I’m getting confused on which one came first. It has good graphics for Genesis. It has great music. I like the old Sonic music. This is the game I’m trying to finish. It has some good bosses, too. This is a great game.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the game where the great Miles Tails Prower came in. This is one of the games I finished. My brother was Tails. He is extremely helpful in bosses, since he can’t die. There is a stage where you’re in the sky. Someone can control the Tornado. Sonic can jump over it to avoid bad guys. Something about it reminds me of Mario. The bosses are excellent, especially the last two. One is Silver Sonic, and the other is Robotnik. Unfortunately, Tails leaves you when you’re on the blimp. Some of the bosses from the other Sonic games, I noticed, are from this game. The music is superb as is the variety. It also has some excellent multi-player with many stages that are full of detail. This is game is excellent because of the variety. Not very many old Sonic games are this way.
Sonic 3 the Hedgehog is the second game with the Death Egg. I had this on the computer, so it was easy for me to beat. I like the save feature. I have all the Chaos Emeralds to transform into Super Sonic. The sound is excellent, and so are the bosses. This is the game where the Blue Sphere game came in. (See Blue Sphere.) This is part one of Sonic 3 the Hedgehog and Knuckles. I think Sonic 3 the Hedgehog is an excellent game.
Sonic 3 the Hedgehog and Knuckles is a combination of Sonic 3 the Hedgehog and Sonic and Knuckles. I had this on the computer, so it wasn’t hard for me to beat. Multi-player is included. There are 4 characters: Sonic, Tails, Sonic and Tails, and Knuckles.
Sonic is a character with no special powers, except doing tricks with the
shields. I have beaten the game with him on the computer, but not on the Game Cube. His stages are excellent. There is a really cool one in space. There is a really hard part in this one casino type stage. If you can do this, it is luck. On the computer, I have all the Super Emeralds to transform into Hyper Sonic. His final boss against Robotnik is hard, but neat. This is the one where Sonic is on the Death Egg itself. Sonic is an excellent character with 14 zones.
Tails is a character with a very special ability: the ability to fly. This can come in handy when you want to go right over obstacles. I have gotten all the Super Emeralds with him. His new form is a lot better than Knuckles’. It is because he has birds surrounding him. Knuckles has the worst one. Tails’ casino stage is a lot harder because you may accidentally make him fly. For some very strange reason, the creators of the game didn’t let Tails do the last zone, the Doomsday Zone. This is surprising because Tails is well suited for this task. It’s because of those birds. Why do they surround him? It is probably because Tails is very nice and would never harm them even if he were mad at them. Knuckles definitely would. Sonic probably wouldn’t hurt the birds. I think the birds are Flickies, so they wouldn’t surround Sonic for 2 reasons: 1) He thinks he is too good for some old Flickies, and he is. Sonic isn’t weak or anything. 2) When he saved them, the Flickies may have been confused about who saved them, and may have thought Sonic put them in robots just to free them. (This is not true. He did not put them in robots in Sonic 3D Blast.) Tails’ bosses are no harder and no easier than Sonic’s. This is not true in some other games. Most of the time his bosses are a little harder. The neat thing about Tails is that in the middle of the game where the Death Egg is launching you fight two bosses, not just one. Another neat thing is that in the level in the sky (I forget what it’s called.) you can fight Metal Sonic a few times. Some of these attacks are reminiscent of Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s Silver Sonic attacks. There are also other bosses from that game. One of the only bad things about Tails is that he can’t use that one shield Sonic uses by jumping twice. This attack is cowardly, but nevertheless good. The music for Tails is excellent. I really like the music for the final Robotnik. I also like the Sega intro at the beginning. As for the story, it is a lucky thing Tails came along with the Tornado at the end to save Sonic or he would have fallen into the ocean, thus dying. Some people think Sonic could have stayed in his super form but I didn’t see any rings around there anywhere. In multi-player, I like to be Tails a lot. He is great on that one casino stage. This is because you don’t have to jump on the balloons. This makes this a lot easier. The only bad thing is if you try to press “A” twice, Tails will fly in place you don’t want him to. Other than that, Tails is great for multi-player. It may seem as though Tails is beyond superb, but the only problem is that he is younger than Sonic and no one thinks he can do anything. So far, I have 4 Chaos Emeralds with Miles Tails Prower. So, that brings Tails down to an excellent character overall. (Tails is also my favorite character in the Sonic series.)
Sonic and Tails are two characters that team up together. (They are the same as the regular Tails and Sonic.) They make a great team because when Sonic NEEDS to go high, Tails can carry him. In this way, Sonic can help Tails out so he can fly while Sonic attacks. Tails can help Sonic because he can defeat bosses easier. This is because when someone controls Tails, he can die without losing a life. Sonic can also help Tails out because Sonic and Tails can hit the boss together with two hits instead of two, thus that means Sonic can really help Tails out. Sonic can also help Tails by getting the Master Emerald back, while Tails gets the Tornado. I beat the game with Tails and Sonic on the Game Cube. Tails and Sonic are a superb team.
Knuckles has some very special abilities: the abilities to glide, climb, and break through solid walls. The superb thing about Knuckles is that he has harder levels than Tails and Sonic. The bosses are always at least a little harder. With Knuckles I have all the Super Emeralds. Knuckles can’t go all the way to the Death Egg. That’s probably why everything is harder. I would say the only thing easier is his final boss. Instead of fighting Robotnik, you fight Egg Robo. Knuckles, overall, is an excellent with some hard bosses.
Team Hero, as the Sonic Heroes game would say, includes Tails, Sonic, and Knuckles. Actually, there is no such team, but if there were, that would be great. You could control Tails, Sonic, or Knuckles if you had three people. The screen would be one still. (You have to remember this is a Genesis game.) The bosses would be super easy. Tails could
carry Sonic, and he could carry Knuckles. Tails, Knuckles, and Sonic would be a superb team.
There is also a multi-player mode where you and one other person race around a track 5 times. You can choose from Tails, Sonic, Knuckles. They all still have their special powers. Sometimes you can be confused on how to start the race, but other than that it’s good.
Overall, Sonic the 3 the Hedgehog turns out to be a superb game. With some good multi-player and three playable characters who couldn’t beat this? It also has parts 2 and 3 of the Death Egg. All right, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Sonic CD are, but this is still on my top list. There is also saving. (Did I mention you get all this just from a Sega Genesis game? Of course, Sonic CD did it…)
Knuckles in Sonic 2 is the same as Sonic the Hedgehog 2, except you’re Knuckles. Of course, it could be a little different at the end, but that is probably about it. Refer to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for more details. (This is last on my list to completing.)
Blue Sphere is the mini-game you play to get Chaos and Super Emeralds in Sonic 3 the Hedgehog, Sonic 3 the Hedgehog and Knuckles, and Sonic Knuckles. Instead of saving, it has passwords. You basically have to get all the Blue balls without hitting the red ones. If you hit the red ones, you die. The gold ones make you bounce. It has good music and great graphics. This is because it is 3D. It is a good game I think.
Flicky is an old arcade game I think. It is hard to beat even though it seems easy. At least you don’t have to insert a quarter every time you play it. The music is okay. The graphics were also okay, but not the best. In this game you are a blue bird and go around jumping on Flickies to take them with you. If you pick up an object, you can throw it at enemies. The levels do change a little bit in difficulty every time you complete a level. I don’t know if this game ever ends. (Frankly, I do not feel like finding out.) Flicky is an okay game.
Ristar the Shooting Star is on a mission to save his galaxy. I really don’t know what this has to do with Sonic except he is Sonic related. Some of the great music is also the same. He is a star that can jump and grab out his hands. The bosses are actually hard, but that could be because I’m not used to controlling Ristar. The only reason I have no trouble is because I have played my first Sonic game in 1997, Sonic CD, and the controls normally are the same. I used the code to get all the bosses and levels. I have not yet finished this game. I think Ristar the Shooting Star is a great game.
Sonic and Knuckles is part 3 of the Death Egg. I never really played this game very much since this game is all on Sonic 3 the Hedgehog and Knuckles. That game saves and Sonic and Knuckles doesn’t. The only other is difference is you can only be Sonic and Knuckles. This game includes everything up from Mushroom Hill. (Refer to Sonic 3 the Hedgehog and Knuckles.)
Sonic 3D Blast is a kind of weird game where you can go any way you want, but you’re not looking at Sonic’s back. I did this game on the computer, but not on the Game Cube because it doesn’t have a save feature. In this game, Sonic is on a mission to save the Flickies, To do this, he has to burst open enemies. The final Robotnik is extremely difficult. (I have only beaten it thrice.) The graphics and sound are great. There is also an excellent mini-game where you collect rings to win. Overall, Sonic 3D Blast is an excellent game.
The special movies are fun to watch. You can watch a little bit of Sonic Advance 2 in Japanese and part of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle as well. Another 2 include Sonic CD’s ending and beginning movies. (Why didn’t they include the game?) There is also one called the History of Sonic that shows you some big Sonic moments. The movies are an excellent thing to have.
There are also some pictures of the characters in some Sonic games. They show you the old pictures of them, and the new ones for the main characters. There is also artwork from cards. (Unfortunately, you can’t print them out.) The pictures are great!
You can look at every Sonic comic cover from Sonic #1- 110. There is also a special comic you can read. It is called Sonic Firsts. It includes I think 4 Sonic comic stories including the classic “This Island Hedgehog”. You can look at other special covers as well. Unfortunately, you can’t read all the comics. The comics were a good addition.
Overall, Tails and Sonic Mega Collection are excellent and are fit to be in your Game Cube collection. (If you care for Tails, Sonic, etc. games at all.)
| Let's Blast To The Past! | | Christopher Alexandre from Jersey says (20/Jul/2003): | This game is class! It's another one of my best games I have ever played for Nintendo Gamecube! Sonic And Knuckles is my favourite game cause I like playing the Final Battle level with either Sonic or Knuckles. Therefore I do agree that unlocking the games are challenging. I hope they do a Super Mario Collection cause that would make the director rich! Overall, Sonic Mega Collection is an excellent game I have ever played in my entire live. If you haven't got Memory Card and want to play a game on the Gamecube that doesn't really require a Memory Card for Saving Data then this is one game you should get for Nintendo Gamecube.
| Truly brilliant idea a classic to the sonic series | | Ed from London, England says (19/Jun/2003): | I have been playing sonic since i was 5, unfortunately i couldn't have a mega drive so i played the mega drive sonics round my friends house. Whenever I went round there we always played sonic 2, sonic 1 or sonic and knuckles. Well at least I can now play them as much as I want! the first sonic game I actually owned was Sonic 3D for the PC. Even though i didn't own a game until 1999 I have loved the series since 1995. I gave it 10/10 because i'm addicted to sonic and this game with the mega drive classics. I absolutely loved Sonic adventure 2 battle for gamecube and this is just the same. This game just goes to show you that graphics aren't anything if the gameplay is fantastic. My favourite of the games is Sonic 2 because it was the game that got me addicted to sonic, I have completed it with all the chaos emeralds and I think playing as super sonic makes it so much easier and very fun too! My friend is always asking if he can borrow it but I just say no chance mate! There are a lot of words to describe but I can pick the most suitable one:Outstanding.
| super sonic blowout!!!!!!!!!1 | | super sonic from south wales says (1/Jun/2003): | I really really really really really really love sonic.its the perfect game for any console.I think all the graphix on it has been good thats why i love it so much.Iv been a fan ever since i was three years old and now im thirteen.i used to have it on a mega drive but then we got rid of it and got a gamecube and at the moment iv just completed sonic adventure 2 battle.
| Sonic rules gamecube! | | Daniel Taylor from Norton, England says (10/May/2003): | This game was brilliant! I am a massive sonic the hedghog fan but hadn't played many megadrive games. This gave me a chance to do so, and I enjoy every minute of it. The sonic CD movies in the extras section are great, nintendos precious mario could not do move like that. The sound and graphics of all the games were left origanal as best. I also really enjoyed playing as knuckles the echidna in sonic 2+3. My only fault with the game is it is incomplete. There is no sonic jam and sonic r (sega saturn) no sonic cd (?????) and no gamegear games. Also, there are no master system games, or any mention of them in the history of sonic movie. I have only played one, sonic the hedghog, and it is different to the megadrive game. There are more master system games through. maybe it should have covered all the games on 2 discs???
| >>>>>>Yakka<<<<<<<< | | Yakka from York says (24/Apr/2003): | Sonic in my book is the greatest game of all time and the new mega collection wow its great all the best on 1 man awesome idea 10 10 10 is wat i say. The new Sonics are good but there losing sonic they need to stay more like emrald cost ont he first sonic adventure for the dreamcast in conclusion Sonic Rules ye !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| totally awsome | | James maloney from Dumbarton,Scotland says (22/Apr/2003): | i have to admit this is a excellent game. i used to have a genesis console with sonic 1 sonic 2 and sonic and knuckles.
but now this new disk has come out i play it everytime i go to my friends house. probably the best game's on it so far that me and my friend have unlocked are sonic 2 with the supersonic cheat in- (the cheat is sound test 19,65,9,17 press x after each number then press start at the title screen hold b and press start then go to the sound test there and puts in 4,1,2,6 then choose any level get 50 rings and jump) my other favourite game is sonic 3.
my favourite clips on the game are the sonic cd ones because they have excellent graphics and excellent songs
| what more can i say!! | | brendan duffy from northampton,UK says (13/Apr/2003): | well where to start. gameplay, nobody can rival the gameplay of sonic its amazing. graphics, unchanged and thats how it should be, amazing. sound, takes you back to the nineties, classic. lifespan, every now and then youll want a bash at it, timeless. value, 7 sonic games 4 the price of 1, brilliant. originality, ahhh none, well when it first came out it was original. Basically this is a compilation that has been made for the right console, at the right time and in the right way. sonic the hedgehog came out in 1991, and shook the world with its pace and difference, still satisfies. Sonic 2, some will argue that this was the best sonic, and i have to agree. Sonic 3 had a great storyline did this, blended with sonic gameplay, a hit, but not the best sonic. Sonic and knuckles, superb spinoff of sonic 3. Sonic 3d awkward control, bad camera angle, too difficult. Sonic spinball, nice idea but quite lame. Dr Robotniks mean bean machine, this is very addictive. and i havent even mentioned the extras, they are very cool. Overall this is so fantastic its unbelievable. i suggest you go out and buy it, now
| one of da best games ever! | | kai crowther from aldershot says (7/Apr/2003): | This is a very good game even though people complain saying that u should get out your old sea it dont matter its got excellent extra features also its got a excellent game on it called ristar (a gold star what can strech its arms) also if you are british you get a game called flicky which oly ever came out in usa its a excellent game but im not gonna ruin it for you go and buy it after all its 100000000x better than Legends of wrestling 1 and 2
| Sonis rocks | | Ricky Thornhill from Hull, England says (30/Mar/2003): | This game is absoloutely brilliant. The sound is good and lthough the graphics are unenhanced, the gameplay is superb and the bonus games are even better. Sonic or Knuckles should definately be in the next super smash bros game. As a result, I give this game a well-deserved 10.
| Sonic's Return | | Alec Carpenter from Denver, CO Usa says (18/Mar/2003): | I'm one of the largest Sonic fans. I used to have all the originals for the Genesis, but the machine broke. Now I have Sonic Mega Collection and I only stop playing to sleep, watch t.v. and movies, and occasionaly sleep. Yes, I do eat and all other stuff while playing. The only thing I hate is getting the bonus games. They made it so damn hard to do get them. But non the less, the game amazes me yet.
| This Game Rocks!!!! | | Nick Maraffino from Ny USA says (11/Mar/2003): | The Sonic mega collection is my favorite game now i never get bored of it. I always been big fan of sonic i never had a genesis but i played them all at my friend's houses. 2 yrs ago i got a dreamcast and Sonic adventure and love evry second of it.
First the gameplay is cool i love playin the sonic 1,2,3 and knuckles. Graphically excellent still the same from the genesis and with all the cool features it's best this definitly beats games like GTA vice city for the ps2.
| Sonic Mega Collection! | | ENA from Conneticutt,USA says (8/Feb/2003): | I have been a Sonic fan since Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast came out.I loved playing all the classic Sonic games.I'm suprised that they left out Sonic CD though.Anyway I really liked this one so I gave it a 9.
| sonic rules | | bob mcferrin from unchville antarctica says (7/Feb/2003): | im givin this game a 9 cause the games are good but they make so hard to earn the hidden games and they should of put sonic Cd instead of dr. robotniks mean bean machine but i still like the game alot it the gameplay is cool too
| Nice Game | | KC Money from Antarctica says (28/Jan/2003): | I am one of the biggest Sonic fans in the world, and I know all about the Sonic dynasty. I figured, however, with the capabilities of the GameCube system, I expected some enhancement of the graphics, or at least the sound.
And how can you possibly leave out Sonic CD? However, it does have all the classic gaming of the Genesis, so I give it a 9. Next, I'm lookin' forward to a good Sonic game on GameCube that follows the same Genesis storylines that I love. You know, Sonic beats acts, then bosses, then gets Robotnik at the end. Not all this grindin and racing that has come in the newer games. I like them, but I miss the old days. Sonic needs to be in the next Smash Brothers. More opinions to come.
|
| | Melissa from Paris, France says (26/Jan/2003): | Sonic's back with all his old games! All the sonic games have come back in one single game! from Sonic The Hedghog 1 to Sonic Jam! Sonic comics and movie clips are in this and a preview for Sonic Advance 2.The graphics are the same but the sound is slightly beter. It's a little easier to play with a gamecude controler too. with 7 games to start you out with and some games to unlock this game could take a while to beat, and some of the games you can't save on. Even if your not a sonic fan this game is worth buying. Everyone loves this once brown now blue hedghog.
