This old Dreamcast game has loads to do29194

Victro from Fairborn, OH USA says (4/Aug/2003):
This game features a wide variety of game play. It really is a shame there isn’t a lot of multi-player game play. The story line is pretty good for most parts. I never had a Dreamcast, so I got this game. It came as a shock to me that there were some Game Gear games. (I never had that either.) This makes up for no multi-player. There are many things to do in the main game. It has a mode where you can go around freely. You also go to the action stages instead of being taken there. There is also a Mission mode. You try to solve puzzles in which some are sort of silly. There are also many Sub Games. You can choose from eight characters: Tails, Knuckles, Big the Cat, Amy, Sonic, E- 102 Gamma, Super Sonic, and Metal Sonic.
Sonic has action stages where you run to the end. This is fast, as you would expect from a Sonic game. You can have someone control Tails in some levels. His story line is excellent, and has very detailed environments. The control is great. The camera has improved, but could get better. The only problem is Sonic may go through solid walls sometimes. He has a boss or two that will give you a challenge. All in all, Sonic is an excellent character with 10 levels.
Tails is just like Sonic, except you have to race against him. He can fly to take shortcuts. He has half as many levels as sonic, so his story is shorter. It’s almost the same as Sonic’s, except for some parts. His story is pretty good. The camera is definitely better than Sonic’s, and his control is excellent. Tails, overall is an excellent character with the ability to fly.
Knuckles has treasure hunting stages. There are now 5 colors to tell when you are getting near an emerald instead of three. You can also look for them in any order. A lot of the stages are in the same area as Sonic’s. The story is excellent. The camera can be troublesome at times. The control is good. Knuckles averages as a great character with some strong fists.
E- 102 Gamma has action stages like Sonic, only you have a blaster. He can hover, but not very well. He is also kind of slow. You are timed, which is a downside. If you destroy more than one enemy, you get extra time. The story is good, but confusing. The camera is excellent, as well as the control. E- 102 Gamma is a good character overall with 5 action stages.
Amy rose has action stages like Sonic’s. She has to avoid capture from Zero, reach the end by jumping up on to a balloon, and she is very slow. She has a hammer to whack, and when she has it out while running you can press B to do an acrobatic jump. The control is great, and the camera is good. The story is excellent at the beginning, and okay at the end. She is okay overall, but when you have only three stages and one boss, that can bring down your rating.
Big the Cat has fishing stages. He has to basically fish for Froggy. He can barely destroy an enemy, let alone a boss. He is extremely slow, and has a whole bunch of Level Up items. The story is okay. If you’re looking for exciting action, you’re with the wrong character. The control is poor in fishing, and the camera in fishing is terrible. In the end, Big the Cat is a poor character, with only 4 fishing stages, and one terrible boss.
Super Sonic has only one boss, and that’s it. You can’t roam around freely with him. He’s obviously very fast as in other Sonic games. There really is not a story, unless you count the story before you are Super Sonic. It’s excellent, but they don’t explain what Chaos did. The control is excellent, and so is the camera. With a great boss, Super Sonic is a great character.
Metal Sonic can only be used in trial mode. That means he has no story. All he can do are Sonic’s action stages, and some of his Sub Games. Just refer back to Sonic. Metal Sonic is excellent, but you can only get him once you get all 130 emblems.
There are six Sub Games not including the Boss. They are as follows: Sky Chase Act 1, Sky Chase Act 2, Sand Hill, Ice Cap, Hedgehog Hammer, and Twinkle Circuit.
Sky Chase Acts 1 and 2 are when you’re Tails, and fly the Tornado. The bad part about this is you can't control where it goes. The plane basically follows its own path. All you do is move it around the screen and shoot. It’s still fun to control the plane and shoot the other planes and bombs. Overall, these two Sub Games are good games, but if you could control the Tornado more, it would receive an excellent.
Sand Hill and Ice Cap are boarding games. These two games, in my opinion are extremely excellent games. I just can’t get enough of going down the hill and mountain. Ice Cap has a whole bunch of ramps. The only problem with it is at the beginning you can’t see where you’re going. Sand Hill has great music, has a great stage, and has many objects that pop out of the ground. This is definitely my most favorite stage. Overall, I would rate these games as superb.
Hedgehog Hammer is where you smash puppets with Amy. It is quite fun to do this, but it is mostly luck if you don’t hit Robotnik. There really is not much to say about this, except this is how you get all Amy’s Level Up items. This is a good game to play if you like those smashing games in arcades.
Twinkle Circuit is not very enjoyable because you don’t race. First off this is where you hover around in a car, and go around a track. They could have made multi-player out of this, but they didn’t. This is okay if you like hovering, but if you don’t, this is a poor game.
There are 12 Game Gear games. They are the following: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Blast, Tails’ Sky Patrol, Tails’ Adventure, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Sonic Spinball, Sonic the Hedgehog’s Triple Trouble, Sonic Labyrinth, and Sonic Chaos.
Sonic the Hedgehog has the worst graphics I have ever seen. This is not the one on Sega Genesis. (Check out Sonic Mega Collection.) I think the game play is also worse. You can’t get rings back, and the first boss really isn’t anything. I stopped playing there so I don’t know what to say after that. Based on what I have seen, Sonic the Hedgehog really is a terrible game. (I don’t give terrible ratings that much either.)
Sonic Drift is a racing game. It is one of the only things on Sonic Adventure DX Director’s Cut that has 2- player. I have not completed this game yet. The stages are pretty
good for Game Gear. You can choose from Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Robotnik. They each have their own strengths. Sonic Drift is a great game.
Sonic Drift 2 is also a racing game. It has excellent multi-player with 7 characters to choose from. They are as follows: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Robotnik, Metal Sonic, and Fang (I thought this was Nack the Weasel at first.). This is one game that I finished. I did not get all the Chaos Emeralds, though. You can also have two players be doing two different things at once. I have done this, but the two screens are unrelated. The stages have an excellent variety. This is one of my most favorite games, along with boarding. As you can see, I am pleased with simple things like this. This is, in my opinion, a superb game.
Sonic Blast is a very strange game. Words can’t really describe what this looks like. The background is very old, but Sonic and Knuckles seem to come out of the screen. They are very slow, and their only attack is jump. They can’t go super fast. In fact all they can do is walk. I finally stopped after the first boss. It was terrible. I never finished this game either. This is an okay game, only because it has, in my opinion, better graphics.
Tails’ Sky Patrol is strictly a flying game. You are Tails, and have to fly to the end of the level. The only bad part is you have a limit on how long you fly. My brother went further on this than me, but never finished it. The graphics were good for Game Gear. There is a ring flying around him that you can attack with, and hook onto things with. The invention of this was excellent. This is a good game with some unique new twists.
Tails’ Adventure is when you’re Tails as a little kid. He can’t do all of the normal things he does in other games. For example, he can’t go very fast, his jump can’t harm enemies, and he attacks with weapons. Your life differs from other games because you have rings that show you your health, and once you get hit they do not bounce away so you can get them again. I haven’t finished this game mainly because I can’t figure out how to find the password in Tails’ workshop, or figure out how to switch weapons. I normally have to hit Restart because I get stuck trying to figure it out. The graphics are good for Game Gear. There are also sometimes Zelda- like puzzles to figure out. They are sometimes so simple you can’t figure out how to do at times. I never look at cheat codes for puzzles, though because when they’re done I’m always looking for more. Anyway, Tails’ Adventure is a great game if you can figure out the controls.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is where Sonic is on a mission to save Tails from Robotnik. I never really liked this game too much, but I can’t remember why. I only tried it out once. I know the graphics were good, but nothing else. (I really don’t feel like playing it to find out.)
Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean is a sort of Dr. Mario game from the old NES, SNES, or N64. (I only had an NES. I just learned about the rest from other people.) The graphics were okay, but the multi-player was bad. This was because the screen was tiny. I never did this on the Game Gear games. I did it on Sonic Mega Collection. The one on the Game Gear was okay.
Sonic Spinball is a pinball game. You basically use the flippers to knock Sonic back and forth. Again, I really only did this on Sonic Mega Collection. I don’t even see how people defeated this game because it was mostly luck that would see you through this game. There is another place to play pinball. Go to Casinopolis with Sonic or Metal Sonic, and do the pinball games there. The pinball there is 3-D. That pinball game is excellent.
Sonic the Hedgehog’s Triple Trouble is a game from the zones in the comic Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. For a little background, Sonic came here because he actually witnessed the creation of a zone. It is because ½ of a Chaos Emerald hit the land it was created on. The graphics are good for Game Gear. This is one of the few games I actually finished. I did it with Tails. With his ability to fly, he is an excellent character. When you are he, you can be the Sea Fox, Tails’ submarine in Tidal Plant Zone. You can also be it in a boss against Knuckles. He is actually using technology! You can hit him with your bombs,
but if he shoots you, you will be out of it. In the next zone, the Atomic Destroyer Zone, you see Nack. Unfortunately, it is only for a very brief period because he is scared away by Robotnik’s machine. Right before that, you face Metal Sonic. I can’t remember what he does, but you have to get hit before you can hit him. The final boss, Robotnik, has many different forms. On one of the last ones, lasers shoot you, but there is a specific pattern to avoid them. The only part I thought was weird was that all of the earlier bosses weren’t Robotnik. The first time I saw this was in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. I think this is one of the best Sonic games ever, apart from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Sonic CD. (I got Sonic CD on the computer.) Sonic the Hedgehog’s Triple Trouble is a superb game with a lot of variety of things, not often seen in older Sonic games.
Sonic Labyrinth is a game in which Sonic has lost his speed. Some people think this game is terrible. I really don’t think so. The control is terrible, and the control is poor. I’ll hand that to other people, but I don’t think anything else is. The graphics are okay, and the puzzles are great. You can still go fast when you’re in a ball. (I sometimes say that instead of saying Spin Dash.) That is also great. I have not yet finished this game, but I'm working on it. Overall, Sonic Labyrinth is an okay game.
Sonic Chaos is a game that I can’t really remember right now. I know I didn’t really like this game too much. I know the graphics were good for Game Gear, but that’s about it. (Like Sonic the Hedgehog 2, I really don’t feel like finding out right now.)
Mission mode is basically where you go around looking for Missions to solve. Every character has their own missions, but you have to solve them with that character. They’re hard to look for, because with the 6 characters that can do this, it’s hard to remember where you looked. Some are simple, but some are hard. (I have to admit that I myself cheated on a few.) You’ll have to do all the missions if you want all the Game Gear games.
In this game, there are virtual pets called chao. In the late 90’s virtual pets were popular, so it’s no wonder they’re on this game, which first came out in the late 90’s. The chao evolve differently depending on how you treat them, just like with real pets. The chao are the same as in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and if you have a good one in there, along with a Game Boy Advance (GBA) you can trade them to your game. All the games that are compatible with Sonic Adventure DX Director’s Cut, and have chao that you can trade with are Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic Advance, and Sonic Advance 2. (I don’t know if Sonic Pinball Party does or not.) The only difference with the chao is the way they evolve. I think this is actually a little better. The chao that I made to be strong seemed to take on Sonic’s head. I think this happened because I petted it with Sonic a lot.

Bigger than the DC version, but better?40466

Foe2317 from Manchester, England says (16/Apr/2004):
I would first like to point out the fact that I have been a Sonic fan ever since I can remember, and I have stood by him even when Sonic Adventure 2 was released. Just thought I'd clear that up in case I got some hate mail, and this review is best suited for a Sonic fan who is contemplating wether or not to get Sonic Adventure DX, and is prepared to spend a lot of time reading, anyway, where do I begin? Well, let's start with the changes in this version of the game. In the Dreamcast version, the aim of the game for most players was to complete it. Then there was the Chao thing which didn't last long, mainly because of the lack of variety that it had to offer (and no it wasn't a Pokemon rip-off!), and then of course there was the emeblem collecting. Now, those who read previews of Sonic Adventure for the under-rated DC will all back me when I say that the emblem collecting was to be worthwhile. Whenever the emblems were mentioned, the writer would always state that something would happen if you collected ALL the emblems. Well I did, and guess what happened? Yes, that's right, the same thing as usual, Sonics cheeky face pops up in that emblem and underneath it , the number switches from 159 to 160 (or was it 179 to 180? I forget!), anyway, that was it! So there! Up until you completed the main objective of the game, which was to complete the story, it was the best game ever, but what a let-down with the emeblems. This was complained about by Sonic fans everywhere, and SEGA listened. So what do they do? In the worst Sonic game ever made (and I mean EVER!), they give you the chance to play in a 3D Green Hill Zone. Oh no, please, don't give me too much, I've only just spent 2 years collecting every single emblem, and now after spending a tenth of my life trying to fully complete the most annoying and disgracefully poor Sonic game and probably just 'game' of all time, your only giving me an old level in 3D? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!(Trust me, if I was allowed to, I'd be swearing more times in a sentence, than Eminem does on an album!)

So, another failure in an attempt to add something more to the Sonic Adventure games. Oh well. They then added some more features to the pathetic 'Adventure 2' in the Gamecube form of 'Adventure 2 Battle'(which does not deserve to bear the name Sonic in the title!). What now SEGA? Nintendo fans want the first one. SEGA fans loved the first one but still want more, what are you going to do? What's that? You're going to release a re-vamped version of the original? Great!

Now I must admit, when I heard abou this I was buzzing more than a pee'd off wasp. The graphics looked superb, it boasted new features, new this, new that, new everything! During this period though, I began thinking that it would just be another failure, but when they mentioned the Game Gear games, oh how I loved SEGA. My mouth watered, just gazing at the screensgots. I couldn't wait, and then...it arrived!

My aunties boyfriend who has been posted on an island somewhere near Saudi Arabia came down to my home in Manchester to visit. He's quite well-off, so he usually buys me a game, of which I am eternally greatful for, as money burns a hole in my pocket faster than Sonic can run. So anyway, he buys me Sonic Adventure DX. What do I do? I rush home straight away, pop the disc in my Gamecube, and we're off. I notice every single change in the game. The Sonic Team intro. thing isn't as good as the Dreamcast's one. Instead of the cute-sounding 'Sonic Team' with the image fading in from the water, we are greeted by a white screen with the Sonic Team logo plastered on. Then we've got the intro. movie. Virtually the same. Then we come to the title screen. Somehow, a picture of Sonic in 3D stood next to the words 'Sonic Adventure DX Directors' Cut' isn't as good as the classic 'Sonic Adventure' logo with that recognisable Sonic Adventure background. I start to worry. I press start, and the menu's the same, apert from the fact that it has a couple more options, but you'd expect that due to the new features. I check the modified options screen, which isn't better than the Dreamcasts' either, and then start the game. You can instantly tell that the enviroments have been revamped to incorpirate the altered graphics of the main characters, but it's sort of an illusion, as the only grapics that are actually improved are the six playable characters, Navi, Chaos, Eggman, and the other
E-100 robots. I whup Chaos Zero's butt in the same way as on the Dreamcast, but I am watching a slightly altered cut-scene, whic I can skip, unlike in the Dreamcast version. For some gamers, this is very good, but really, you must always sit through the cut-scenes if you want to appreciate Sonic Adventure in all its glory. The same type of thing runs throughout the game. Those who played the DC original will notice these little tweaks, but those who never played it, or only briefly played it would explectedly not notice them.

The sound is still great, the voices are and actually were great, just a few robotic-lines, but they're expected in this kind of game. The music is still great too, which is thankfully the same as the originals, because let's face it, the 're-mixes' on 'Adventure 2' were so pathetic, it was unbelievable. Probably the best music and most memorable is that of the Mystic Ruins. Anyone who's ever played Sonic Adventure on either format would agree that it goes with the Mystic Ruins area, and it is very soothing. It also makes me feel sad, as it reminds me of the year 1999, which I miss dearly.

The gameplay is immense. You don't have that feeling that you control Sonic, you feel you ARE Sonic. The fact that it it is an Actiuon/Adventure game is great. SEGA took a big risk with this in '99, and quite a lot of people hated it. But us true Sonic fans know deep down that there is more to Sonic than just 2D platforming, and that it should be shown, and it has done through the genius type of gamplay that can only be experienced in Sonic Adventure. However, that brings us to the huge downfall in the gamplay. Somehow, all the new features take points off the gamplay score, as in some uneplainable way, it ruins it. You don't get that special feeling playing it like you do on the DC version. I don't really want to go into that though, because only true Sonic fans know where I'm comin from.

Although the main part of the game hasn't really got the sufficient type of gameplay, the missions kinda do. Once you've completed story mode, you unlock the Missions game, in which you run around the three Adventure Fields looking for missions. It's sort of like running around looking for an emblem, then having to perform a task to get it. However, it is in riddel form, so you have to use your brain. Every ten missions you complete, you unlock a Game Gear game, which is great for us in England, as we never saw Sonic Drift or Tails' Adventures. Great stuff!

The lifespan of this one is version is huge. If you're a hard core Sonic fan (yes I realise that I go on about it and that I write a lot of brackets), you have tons of replay value siply for the fact that you can be Sonic (or Tails or Knuckles, Amy, Big, Gamma, whatever). The annoying emblem thing is still there, and so are the Chao; but you try doing the Missions. They are hard. Mainly finding them's the hard part, but so are the riddles.

As I am running out of your patience, I'll end by saying buy it. BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT! Or more prefferably buy a Dreamcast and the original. The original would have scored 9 or even 10 because of how much it means to us Sonic fans. BUY IT!

Apple from Westside MA says (21/Jul/2003):
I loved Adventure2, and when I heard that DX was coming outI had to get it and I did. I found this website wishing to get some of other gamers opinions and I found out that a few of these gamers complain about the plot lines and the so called "ball of light". First off let me say that if you don't know what that ball of light is then you haven't beaten the game at it's fullest. Second I understand that Big the cat was not a good character that is why he wasn't in SA2. And I had no problems with the camera angles (I've had worst angles trust me) and that fact is that some of these people don't notice that maybe going to free camera and doing it you're self might be a little better. Let's think about it. . .Yes! And one person I believe said to rent the game and to play for one hour and a half. Forget you! I mean to unlock the secrets figure out that cream the rabbit can fly is a tough thing to do in one hour kid!All you people do is complain you people go to five years of college or more and make one character last more then te years. Let along three games, Sonic has been there since a long time he has done his best he has done everything he can and I say give him a break! After a while of games Yuji Naka ran out of ideas is it his fault! You tru to entertain a bunch strangers as a living tell me if it's fun go ahead! And the music? COME ON! If you were in to the game the music wouldn't matter at all not one bit! Not one! So what I say is stop whinning play the game unlock all the mini get the missions done play the mini collection beat those games and then when it comes out get Sonic Heroes and then complain again and I'll tell you what to do ok? Do it now! My score was nine but after this I changed my mind I'm going to give it a ten just because I'am a true Sonic fan and don't care about the small stuff! turn up the Sonic music! All I have to say islong live the hedgehog and no one else! Rock on for another ten years Sonic!

This Game Rocks!!!! (Sonic Faqs)44585

Shani Istaur from Havana, (Florida) USA says (21/Apr/2005):
Listen everyone, all you people who hate sonic I say stop complaining and don't buy it then. Ssonic DX is one of the best games I have ever seen and played. I know there are some little problems but I don't care. I am a true Sonic Fan; I have Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Heroes and many of the Segaa Genesis' Sonic games. Sadly I don't have Sonic DX yet but I have played it and it is the best. I really don't have ant info on the game, but I do have my personal input. I have been a Sonic Fan ever since my sister was sonic in "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" and I was tails but now I am Sonic and I am the master. Sega has done a great job with the Sonic games and everything else they put claim on with sonic; I actually think Sonic is better than Mario. I don't have to much info on Sonic DX, but I wiil clear up some things. First of all Super Sonic comes about when sonic has 50 rings and all of the seven chaos emeralds; Sonic changes into Hyper Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Sonic&Knuckles. Sonic changes into Hyper Sonic when he has 50 rings all seven chaos emeralds which must have the power of the Master emerald. Shadow in SA2 does not go Hyper he goes Super. Next, I am still confused about Metal Sonic. I know he debut in Sonic CD, but who is the blue robot hedgehog in Sonic&Knuckles from the SEGA Genesis. If you have played the game you know whta I am talking about. Thirdly why didn't Sonic Heroes reslly explain Shadow's amnesia and his being captured and cloned. If antone has info on this email me please at kingofgames16< remove me > at hotmail.com But back to the main subject, Sonic DX is one of the greatest Sonic games and dare I say it one of the best games ever. This is a must buy or rent for you skepticals. I have nothing really bad to say about it so I give it a 11 on a scale of one to ten. I will get mines this week so go out and buy! (P.S. Thank You Sega for making one of the best Sonic games and bringing it to Nintendo Gamecube)

THIS GAME WAS THE BOMB!46399

A gamer from hazard,kentucky says (23/Nov/2006):
This game 1 of the best games sonic has put out so far.
It is addicting because you get to raize chao and play with
7 different charectors (including metal sonic). No matter
HOW MUCH you play this game it never ends because of the
chao, emblems, and minigames to play.I give this game a
hard earned 10 because it never ends and you have 7 different
charectors to choose from, each with there very own story line
and different gameplay too.

HINTS:
Gold chao egg:go to the place where you first fought choas
and find the stone chao looking egg thingy, then go to store
and place the stone egg thingy where the gold egg is,then take
the gold chao egg to your chao garden and have fun with it!

Silver chao egg:go to the train and go to tails airport thing
where he takes off in his plane(the blue 1 he made). Then go to
the waterfall and look for a block in the wall.go up to it and push it in.then the silver chao egg will fall out of the waterfall and then wait for it to float to the edge of the
pound and pick it up.NOTE:Do NOT take the chao egg on the train
or u will loose it. Then you will have to take it in the cave
near tails airport thing.Hop in the cart WITH/WILE holding
the silver chao egg and then wait to arive at your other chao
garden with a new silver chao egg and wait for it to hatch.
Have fun with it!
NOTE:you must be amy for this next chao egg.
Black chao:I forgot some of the stuff how to get the black chao egg but ill try my best to tell you. Go to the EGG CARRIER
and go to the minigame (wak the sonic) Then go thru the door to
the cages and hit the red things on the floor to open the cage
gate and then take the chao egg. Then take it to your chao garden where it shows the EGG CARRIER in it thru 1 of the portal
things. Then you have the black chao.

!HAVE FUN PLAYING SONIC ADVENTURE DX:DIRECTORS CUT!

Okay, I guess but should have been WAY better27636

Angus from Kennewick WA USA says (11/Jul/2003):
When I played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, It was heaven. The length of the game and the thought that once you collect all of the emblems you would get a new level. I played non-stop for 4 months until I got an A on every mission. I made an "A a day" program to make sure I paced myself. When Socin DX started to get close, I was expecting just as good or better. My Gamecube was broken and I spent $75 to get it repaired so I could play DX. After two days of playing it, I was so dissapointed I wanted to cry. It wasn't a fraction of how good the prequal (sequal, whatever) was. There was now scoring an A, B, C, D, or E. It was just three crappy missions per level. Those went by with a breeze. The only good music was in the mystic ruins. The only reasons I'm giving it 6 stars is because 1. It's a Sonic Game. 2.The Knuckles missoins were good. 3. The graphics. It didn't have the insanely cool music like in Sonic 2 Battle. The controls while fishing make you want to throw your controler and have a fit. Big the Cat is so stupid I can't stand hearing him talk in the cinematics. If I were you I wouldn't buy this game. If it were more like $25, it would be a good choice because the chao system does rock. There are good gardens and golden chaos. One garden is on a tropical island with a missle sticking out of it. Yeah, so if you don't think you want to buy this game, I would rent it a few times (maybe even once). You should beat it by then. The mini games are a nice little bonus to the game though. The game all around is fun for a small bit, then it gets boring. Rent it or borrow it.

Great game.... But still a replica of Sonic Adventure35143

Nicholas (Nick) from Burbank, California,USA says (11/Nov/2003):
I feel that this game ROCKS!!!!! I still can't believe that the original Sonic Adventure was this good though. It will take you a LONG time to get all the bonus features, but thats good because you'll have an excuse for playing so much.
I gave this game a 10 because of the great storyline with Sonic,Tails, and Knuckles especially (He's me favorite char in any Sonic game that has him in it), and a good, short, but good
storyline with everyone else. This game has Ausome, bright, &
shiny graphics, which is another reason I gave this game ten.
The sound effects are really original like from the first games (well.... Most of the sound effects are original), like jumping, getting rings, etc. and I like that. I also like the characters' voices, and when Sonic talks, he's got a big mouth (literally),so the sound is another reason I gave this game 10.
This game is fun because there are SO MANY things to do, and
a funny line or two in each char's storyline (except for Big, he's funny the entire way through).
Since this is the replica of Sonic Adventure, it's storyline and char's are based on the old SEGA Genesis games which I personally like the best because those games ROCKED!
I think this game is worth more than $29.99.
You probably have already figured out already that I'm a HUGE Sonic fan.... So I'll know if a Sonic game is good or not.
If you don't have this game, this review is over so go buy it, NOW!!

This game was absolutely amazing!46143

Jonathan from Quebec, Canada says (27/Jun/2006):
I have been playing this sonic game for about a year now and I am so glad I did. I love this game and mostly I love how you can raise chao. I love raising chao. Most of my chao are heros but some of them I forgot to make them heros so my cousin took over and made them dark. I absolutely love raising hero chao but I do have one question. For hero chao how do you make them have long ears? If anyone who reads this knows how, email me at frogmaster12< remove me > at hotmail.com and please tell me how to do this. I have tried so many different ways but it never worksfor me:(:(:(:(:(. I really waant to know how because all the chao in the races look super cool compared to my chao. I would also like to comment on how great the graphics are in this game. The only thing that bugs me sometimes are the camera angles. I find them glitchy very often and it frustrates me when I'm trying to complete a mission under three minutes because I get lost and I mess up and die:(. Other than the messed up camera anles, this game is absolutely wonderful and I think that everyone shold give it a try. Just make sure that when you play that you raise chao because chao are awesome. So once again if anyone has any hints or tips about raising chao, please please please e-mail me at frogmaster12< remove me > at hotmail.com it would really mean a lot to me.

Not just another boring review!26985

Knux13 from Los Angeles says (3/Jul/2003):
When I heard that my all time favorite video game production company was planning on porting several of their Dreamcast games to the Nintendo Gamecube, I was thrilled. Although I had played the DC on several occasions, I never had the chance to own one, so you can imagine my excitement. I have purchased every Sonic the Hedgehog game made for the GC thus far (Sonic is one of my childhood favorites), and this was by far one of the best. As for the graphics, they're excellent, and although the camera sometimes gets stuck, this is not a major problem, and can usually be remodied by jumping or tapping the camera buttons. The plot is really very good for a late 90's 3-D pioneer game, and assuming you pay attention to the cinema scenes, should leave you thinking for a while. There are numerous little things to look at and go back through the game for. One thing I really enjoyed was the old robo-sonic bosses from the older games, Metal Sonic (from Sonic CD, but best known from Sonic Adventure 2: Battle) and the meaner looking Mecha Sonic (a little-known end boss from Sonic the Hedgehog 2). On one final note, I just have to say that those who thought that E-102 g's ending was sad either didn't get what was going on, or looked away at the very end and missed the "reunion."

Sonic DX: a great game for action, chao, and other fun stuff!45192

Nathan a.k.a. Nimbuschao from Rancho Cucamonga USA says (16/Aug/2005):
Sonic DX is tie with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the best game I ever played! Sonic DX is a great game to raise chao. I love the chao!!!! They are so cute and they are also fun to spend time with. I like the races alot! They are challenging but fun!! The graphics are pretty good. The sound... is GREAT!!!! I could spend hours on the sound test lisening to the music!! I think the best thing is the story mode. I like all the action in them. My favorite are Sonic and Tails. My least favorite is Big. He's also too big to raise chao. I like all the bosses: but I like Chaos the best. Which Chaos? ALL of them!! I just don't like that Chaos 0 is too easy. I like Chaos 7 (Perfect Chaos) the best. I could fight him over and over for hours. I also wish Amy had some Chaos action, when all she does is play hide and seek with Zero.I think the most fun final boss is the Egg Viper. It is so fun! (Yet not as fun as Chaos)This game is worth lots, and its thanks to Chaos and the chao, but mostly chaos. I hope Chaos is in the next Sonic game Sega and Sonic Team create. I will tell you a hint about chao: When the chao evolve, the cocoon doesn't make a sound like in SA2B, so check your chao regularly, especially if you have "soon to be neutral" chao in the garden! It happened to me, so trust me:)

From DC to GC . . . . . It's still perfect.44872

A gamer from Hudson WI , USA says (18/Jun/2005):
I have the original Dreamcast version and when my brother and I first played it we actually began fighting each other to play it. I expected Sonic Adventure DX to be just as good if not better. And the Blue Blur didn't dissapoint! This games graphics were still virtiually flawless and the music was just great the tenthousandth time around. Sonic is still as fun as he was back in his Genesis days. The gameplay poses no problems to me. I like playing as all the characters, especially E-102y "Gamma". Unlike most people ,I have no problem with Big.The game was even more fun this time though it wasn't on it's original console. Oh! I almost forgot about Chao! They still have as much attitude as ever! The shop in the Station Square Chao Garden was a big improvement, though the prices were a little outrageous. I liked how there were special types of friut you could buy to make your chao hero or dark chao. I also liked the new Chao Race courses. The bottom line is that you are a diehard Sonic fan who can still remember his first battle with Dr.Robotnik(I loved that first boss battle. Robotnik was in his flying vehicle that he had attatched a wrecking ball to.) and has followed the storylines of all Sonic's journies, like I have, this is the absolute perfect game for you!

Why You should Choose DX, And they actually have shadow in the game.43821

gameSlayer (Hammal Baluch) from Ralegh,North Carolina says (3/Jan/2005):
Guess what every one shadow is actually in the game!, That is if you count the chaos. if your give your chao dark fruit and raise the run it will turn into a shoadow with the red on him green then keep raising it and it will turn full red atlevel 50 and with over 3 hours of being in the chao garden. The best reason you should buy or rent dx is 'cause if you've played the other games this is part of a long storyline. The only logical reason you would play the game after you beat it would probably be to raise your chao, or unlocking new characters or bonus features. The only disapointments were The character Big and why there isn't Rouge. The Camera's were ok depending on the characters but it is okay.one reason reason a person would buy it would be that you can feed your chao animals.I liked the music but it gets anoying after a while. The game was a huge improvement from The sonic advance games or sonic 3d blast.i prefere this game over alot of other games. You should contact me at the email address below if you'd like.but now I should blab on about the game so I can meet the minimum requirements to get this review and just so you know i stink at writing essays and now I am getting bored of typing >:( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Best Game Ever Thought Of45397

Jonathan from Orlando, Florida, USA says (5/Oct/2005):
Hi, I think that Sonic DX is one of the best games ever and that I can't wait till the next one comes out. For those of you that what to know were to find items here are some tips. For Big's lours I only know 2 places. Go to the sooers under twinkle park, and the prison on the egg-carrier. For Amy I only know 1. You get it when you beat hedgehog hammer and another tip your supposed to hit the hedgehogs not the eggmans. For Knuckles there is 2. Go to the Mystic Ruins and jump off the edge of the cliff to the right of you when you go up the stairs leading to Tails' Workshop. The next one is over Big's House. Clime up the tree next to Big's House and there should be an emblem. After you get the emblem there is a secret path. Jump on to it and at the end you will see then. I think I'll let you figure out sonic because my hands are getting tired but if you have any questions my email is jonjon.robinson< remove me > at earthlink.net. And a special shoutout to Steven Humphry my favorite cuzin because without him I wouldn't have known about Sonic the Hedgehog and remember gamers keep playing those games. If anyone wants to give me any tips feel free to contact me. Thanks

could have been better34378

tim willers from Northampton, England says (30/Oct/2003):
sonic adventure dx is a great game. the graphics are polished from the last version and look better. the sound is also good, but the adventure field tunes can get very annoying. i think some of the missions on mission mode are just too hard. unfortunately, this game only took me a few days to commplete with everyone including super sonic. but the extra's are still keeping me hooked on the game, and i have had it for about 5 weeks now, and i still have lots to do. it is a very fun game and there are plenty of secrets, so most people will enjoy it for a long time. a bad part about the game is, aswell as some things being too hard, is that it is practically the same as sonic adventure 2 battle only with different characters put in, but the story is well planned. i think you get what you pay for, but some parts of the game are just too hard. over all this is a good game but could have been immproved a lot. the game needs more changes, because most of the characters missions are the same, but just with a diferent story. although fun, the game can become quite reppetitive. so don't count on this being your favourite game of all time.

Sonic DX is a none stop action game.33304

sonic x from PHX, Arizona USA says (11/Oct/2003):
SonicDX Directors cut is one of the best games I have ever played. All you people who say I sucks are crazy. Someone said who the little pink ball is, it's Tikal people, Knuckles' sister. U find out out when u get to fight PERFECT-CHOAS as SUPER-SONIC. If you beat it with all the characters. I only need five Emblems to get and they are the Chao ones. If you've never played this game than you should buy it or rent it. Before u play this one though u should play Sonic Adventure2 Battle. The graphics in both of these games are awsome. All the music in the game kicks, espesially the theme song of SA2 battle. The super sonic in that game looks so cool I couldn't stop playing. The best thing about that game is super Shadow. I heard some people say that he is hyper shadow but hyper shadow is gold with silver stripes. On DX there's a thing cald mission mode. That is something that was not on the original one. I just need one mission that I have to beat and it is mission 38. If anyone can help me just E-mail me. To top this, this is the best game I've played in a long time. I despise Sonic haters, but I love tails haters.

Sonic Adventure DX RULES!!!38988

Zam, Sonic's Long Time Buddy ^_^ from McHenry, Illinois says (12/Feb/2004):
I cannot understand how anyone could not like this game. I've been a Sonic Fan for about 6 years, loving him like a friend, since I don't have many of my own. I got this for Gamecube because I felt I needed a new adventure, since I was only 5 emblems away from beating Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Anyway, I loved how they made it so you could see what happened through everyone's eyes, and the flashbacks are awesomeness! I never expected to see Echidnaopolis. I had so much fun just talking to all the echidnas over and over. I loved Knuckles' story the most, cause I love the Treasure Hunting. He's also my sweetie ^_^. Windy Valley's music brought back so many memories. It felt like I was playing a Genesis game all over again. The stages are challenging yet fun to do, and the Mission Mode's so challenging It's funny! I thought Sonic's little "Vampire Teeth" were so adorable! Oh, and in Casinopolis with Sonic, how you can play Pinball with NiGHTS!! *Squeals* I highly recommend this to anyone who's a Sonic Fan, or for beginners wanting to get hooked on the cute blue blur. Zam, Signing out.

A big improvement27109

A gamer from new york, usa says (4/Jul/2003):
When i heard that sonic adventure1 was going to be ported to the gc i was psyched. I had played it on the dc and i loved it, every aspect of it was great. i knew that on the gamecube, it could only get better. when i finally got it and popped it into my gc i was amazed. the first thing i noticed was the absolutely gorgeous graphics. the shiny character madels looked amazing, and the frame rate stayed smooth through the whole game. with the aid of the wonderful gamecube controller the game controlled very smoothly, the only flaw was the camera that made your character suddenly disappear from the screen, but other than that it controlled excellently. a few other additions i liked were that you can now actually see what your chaos stats are, unlike the dc version. and also the unlockable game gear games. overall i was very impressed, not even the not so good camera angles and the somewhat short adventure mode could bring this game down. i cant wait for sonic heros. if you own a gamecube and like fast paced 3d platformers than there is no reason you should not get this game.

C'mon, its Sonic, man. Its AWESOME!32086

Squall (Play 'Final Fantasy VIII') from Austin, Texas, USA says (18/Sep/2003):
I love this game. Its not the best, but I still love this game. But before I get into this, let me acknowledge the person who who said: "Quit complaining and play the game until Sonic Heros comes out". Just let me say, I bow down to you, for you are a TRUE Sonic fan. And to all of you who 'fell in love with sieres after you got Sonic Adventure 2 Battle' don't even know the first thing about Sonic. I bet You didn't even know that he has been around for about 11, 12 years, did you? I bet you've never even played one of the old games, so don't go disn the music. Every single piece of that music was from past Sonic games! Besides, if you rented it and didn't like it, then why did you buy it? I feel sorry for all you non-Sonic fans who hate this awesome game. And for a true Sonic fans that hate this came, you're not a true Sonic fan. DX isn't as original as SA1, but it IS a great game. And be grateful that the graphics are at least 3D! Besides, its MUCH faster than SA2Battle any ways! The best Sonic game if you've never played the sieres before.

Sonic Scores Again!28336

Joey Levin from Chicago, USA says (22/Jul/2003):
Sonic blasts as a speedy blur past all other competition in this hot new game for Game Cube! This game is a must have for any long time Sonic fan, or a general video game player. What Sega has done in remaking this game was taking the Sonic Adventure game, and adding about twice as much extras to an allready excellent game! In addition to the Sonic Adventure game, the disc also includes nearly every single Sonic game for Game Gear, hidden somewhere in the disc! As if that wasn't enough, the actual game itself is the origional Sonic Adventure made better! The scenes that they remade for the game are so breathtakingly real! Your mouth will drop a foot from the instant that you press the power button on for the first time, and drop again in the same way with every twist and turn in the game! The game is packed with a impressive story line, incredibly fast-paced, action-packed levels, and loads of other surprises! Take my word for it, this is one great game! You will not be disapointed with the magic that Sega has created!
