one of the GOODEST GAMES of sega | | A gamer from haifa says (10/Mar/2005): | i got this game... i was playing it all the time! its 1 of the goodest sega games!!! it has a good choise of game gear games and all kind of cool stuff! if u dont have this game BUY IT!! you will love it! oh and heres some hints for player item: as knuckles for getting the fighting gloves go to the mystic ruins forest go to bigs house (youl see it on map) climb on the tree by the back of the house (ull find en emblem to) look to the left and youl see a track jump to it and ull see them (the fighting gloves are yellow gloves). for getting tails booster go to the sweres (behind twinkle park) look at the top and youl see a path made of concrete fly through it and youl be in a room made out of wood and concrete go up the stairs and youl see them. for getting sonics bracelet go to station square hotel go uo the stairs and youl see two switches go on the one that is making the ring path (youl need sonics light shoes i dont need to help with that youl get it while the game)then go on the other switch and ull see a door opening charge up and go through the ring path if you have luck and the door isnt closing go in it and ull see it. as big there are four items (i remember only three) the first one is in the sweres (behind twinkle park) and youl see it (its a bigger bait that lets you catch bigger fish) when youl get to the ice course of big dive the water and youl see the item (its an even more bigger bait that u can catch with it even more bigger fish) the third one is in bigs house under his bed push the bed and take it (it lets you aim longer). the game is hard though have fun :)
| This Game Rocks!!!! (Sonic Faqs) | | Shani Istaur from Havana, (Florida) USA says (21/Apr/2005): | Listen everyone, all you people who hate sonic I say stop complaining and don't buy it then. Ssonic DX is one of the best games I have ever seen and played. I know there are some little problems but I don't care. I am a true Sonic Fan; I have Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Heroes and many of the Segaa Genesis' Sonic games. Sadly I don't have Sonic DX yet but I have played it and it is the best. I really don't have ant info on the game, but I do have my personal input. I have been a Sonic Fan ever since my sister was sonic in "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" and I was tails but now I am Sonic and I am the master. Sega has done a great job with the Sonic games and everything else they put claim on with sonic; I actually think Sonic is better than Mario. I don't have to much info on Sonic DX, but I wiil clear up some things. First of all Super Sonic comes about when sonic has 50 rings and all of the seven chaos emeralds; Sonic changes into Hyper Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Sonic&Knuckles. Sonic changes into Hyper Sonic when he has 50 rings all seven chaos emeralds which must have the power of the Master emerald. Shadow in SA2 does not go Hyper he goes Super. Next, I am still confused about Metal Sonic. I know he debut in Sonic CD, but who is the blue robot hedgehog in Sonic&Knuckles from the SEGA Genesis. If you have played the game you know whta I am talking about. Thirdly why didn't Sonic Heroes reslly explain Shadow's amnesia and his being captured and cloned. If antone has info on this email me please at kingofgames16< remove me > at hotmail.com But back to the main subject, Sonic DX is one of the greatest Sonic games and dare I say it one of the best games ever. This is a must buy or rent for you skepticals. I have nothing really bad to say about it so I give it a 11 on a scale of one to ten. I will get mines this week so go out and buy! (P.S. Thank You Sega for making one of the best Sonic games and bringing it to Nintendo Gamecube)
| just stuff | | chao dude from Arizona,USA says (25/May/2005): | The graphics are great, Knuckles has a cool new look, but I think the chao could be better. It's cool 'cause of red chao (red's my favorite color) but where do they go when they evolve into a dark/hero chao? My chao got the blue bubble (evolving bubble) and his chao flat out dissapeared!!!!!!!!! I kinda like the music for Amy "I'm on fire". Although I like violence in games so if Amy had an axe i would have put 1 more star. I think they could do better on the music and ancient ruins music gave me nightmares!
| From DC to GC . . . . . It's still perfect. | | A gamer from Hudson WI , USA says (18/Jun/2005): | I have the original Dreamcast version and when my brother and I first played it we actually began fighting each other to play it. I expected Sonic Adventure DX to be just as good if not better. And the Blue Blur didn't dissapoint! This games graphics were still virtiually flawless and the music was just great the tenthousandth time around. Sonic is still as fun as he was back in his Genesis days. The gameplay poses no problems to me. I like playing as all the characters, especially E-102y "Gamma". Unlike most people ,I have no problem with Big.The game was even more fun this time though it wasn't on it's original console. Oh! I almost forgot about Chao! They still have as much attitude as ever! The shop in the Station Square Chao Garden was a big improvement, though the prices were a little outrageous. I liked how there were special types of friut you could buy to make your chao hero or dark chao. I also liked the new Chao Race courses. The bottom line is that you are a diehard Sonic fan who can still remember his first battle with Dr.Robotnik(I loved that first boss battle. Robotnik was in his flying vehicle that he had attatched a wrecking ball to.) and has followed the storylines of all Sonic's journies, like I have, this is the absolute perfect game for you!
| Sonic DX: a great game for action, chao, and other fun stuff! | | Nathan a.k.a. Nimbuschao from Rancho Cucamonga USA says (16/Aug/2005): | Sonic DX is tie with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the best game I ever played! Sonic DX is a great game to raise chao. I love the chao!!!! They are so cute and they are also fun to spend time with. I like the races alot! They are challenging but fun!! The graphics are pretty good. The sound... is GREAT!!!! I could spend hours on the sound test lisening to the music!! I think the best thing is the story mode. I like all the action in them. My favorite are Sonic and Tails. My least favorite is Big. He's also too big to raise chao. I like all the bosses: but I like Chaos the best. Which Chaos? ALL of them!! I just don't like that Chaos 0 is too easy. I like Chaos 7 (Perfect Chaos) the best. I could fight him over and over for hours. I also wish Amy had some Chaos action, when all she does is play hide and seek with Zero.I think the most fun final boss is the Egg Viper. It is so fun! (Yet not as fun as Chaos)This game is worth lots, and its thanks to Chaos and the chao, but mostly chaos. I hope Chaos is in the next Sonic game Sega and Sonic Team create. I will tell you a hint about chao: When the chao evolve, the cocoon doesn't make a sound like in SA2B, so check your chao regularly, especially if you have "soon to be neutral" chao in the garden! It happened to me, so trust me:)
| The Best Game Ever Thought Of | | Jonathan from Orlando, Florida, USA says (5/Oct/2005): | Hi, I think that Sonic DX is one of the best games ever and that I can't wait till the next one comes out. For those of you that what to know were to find items here are some tips. For Big's lours I only know 2 places. Go to the sooers under twinkle park, and the prison on the egg-carrier. For Amy I only know 1. You get it when you beat hedgehog hammer and another tip your supposed to hit the hedgehogs not the eggmans. For Knuckles there is 2. Go to the Mystic Ruins and jump off the edge of the cliff to the right of you when you go up the stairs leading to Tails' Workshop. The next one is over Big's House. Clime up the tree next to Big's House and there should be an emblem. After you get the emblem there is a secret path. Jump on to it and at the end you will see then. I think I'll let you figure out sonic because my hands are getting tired but if you have any questions my email is jonjon.robinson< remove me > at earthlink.net. And a special shoutout to Steven Humphry my favorite cuzin because without him I wouldn't have known about Sonic the Hedgehog and remember gamers keep playing those games. If anyone wants to give me any tips feel free to contact me. Thanks
| This game was absolutely amazing! | | Jonathan from Quebec, Canada says (27/Jun/2006): | I have been playing this sonic game for about a year now and I am so glad I did. I love this game and mostly I love how you can raise chao. I love raising chao. Most of my chao are heros but some of them I forgot to make them heros so my cousin took over and made them dark. I absolutely love raising hero chao but I do have one question. For hero chao how do you make them have long ears? If anyone who reads this knows how, email me at frogmaster12< remove me > at hotmail.com and please tell me how to do this. I have tried so many different ways but it never worksfor me:(:(:(:(:(. I really waant to know how because all the chao in the races look super cool compared to my chao. I would also like to comment on how great the graphics are in this game. The only thing that bugs me sometimes are the camera angles. I find them glitchy very often and it frustrates me when I'm trying to complete a mission under three minutes because I get lost and I mess up and die:(. Other than the messed up camera anles, this game is absolutely wonderful and I think that everyone shold give it a try. Just make sure that when you play that you raise chao because chao are awesome. So once again if anyone has any hints or tips about raising chao, please please please e-mail me at frogmaster12< remove me > at hotmail.com it would really mean a lot to me.
| THIS GAME WAS THE BOMB! | | A gamer from hazard, kentucky says (23/Nov/2006): | This game 1 of the best games sonic has put out so far.
It is addicting because you get to raize chao and play with
7 different charectors (including metal sonic). No matter
HOW MUCH you play this game it never ends because of the
chao, emblems, and minigames to play.I give this game a
hard earned 10 because it never ends and you have 7 different
charectors to choose from, each with there very own story line
and different gameplay too.
HINTS:
Gold chao egg:go to the place where you first fought choas
and find the stone chao looking egg thingy, then go to store
and place the stone egg thingy where the gold egg is,then take
the gold chao egg to your chao garden and have fun with it!
Silver chao egg:go to the train and go to tails airport thing
where he takes off in his plane(the blue 1 he made). Then go to
the waterfall and look for a block in the wall.go up to it and push it in.then the silver chao egg will fall out of the waterfall and then wait for it to float to the edge of the
pound and pick it up.NOTE:Do NOT take the chao egg on the train
or u will loose it. Then you will have to take it in the cave
near tails airport thing.Hop in the cart WITH/WILE holding
the silver chao egg and then wait to arive at your other chao
garden with a new silver chao egg and wait for it to hatch.
Have fun with it!
NOTE:you must be amy for this next chao egg.
Black chao:I forgot some of the stuff how to get the black chao egg but ill try my best to tell you. Go to the EGG CARRIER
and go to the minigame (wak the sonic) Then go thru the door to
the cages and hit the red things on the floor to open the cage
gate and then take the chao egg. Then take it to your chao garden where it shows the EGG CARRIER in it thru 1 of the portal
things. Then you have the black chao.
!HAVE FUN PLAYING SONIC ADVENTURE DX:DIRECTORS CUT!
| Comparison, Comparison... | | A gamer from West Chester, Ohio says (17/Nov/2003): | From the Genesis version, I think I'm going to cry. Sonic was a fast pace jummp-on-the-$#< remove me > at !s-head game. Now it's a James Bond with missions. I mean, if you like blue furballs doing missions that's okay. And if you like a blue water dude getting high off of diamonds that's fine to. I playd and beat this on DC, but if I buy it on GC (wich I doubt i will) I wil only for the Game Gear games. So, as far as this game goes I give it a 5.
| This game was Ok | | Halo says (3/Nov/2003): | This is excactly like the old version, the only difference is the graphics, which are cool. I expected a WHOLE NEW GAME! But it was the same... Atleast they could have changed the levels, or add a new level, or another character, yes I know you can play as metal sonic, BUT YOU HAVE TO GET EVERY SINGLE EMBLEM!!!!!!!! (unless you have action replay, which I have, heh heh heh...)When you get Metal Sonic he is just like Sonic. They have some bugs to fix out with metal sonic... If they put in a character it should have been Tikal! (I mean she is in the game) I wish they put in another character that interacted with the game. But noooooooo...
| excellent | | Apple from Westside MA says (21/Jul/2003): | I loved Adventure2, and when I heard that DX was coming outI had to get it and I did. I found this website wishing to get some of other gamers opinions and I found out that a few of these gamers complain about the plot lines and the so called "ball of light". First off let me say that if you don't know what that ball of light is then you haven't beaten the game at it's fullest. Second I understand that Big the cat was not a good character that is why he wasn't in SA2. And I had no problems with the camera angles (I've had worst angles trust me) and that fact is that some of these people don't notice that maybe going to free camera and doing it you're self might be a little better. Let's think about it. . .Yes! And one person I believe said to rent the game and to play for one hour and a half. Forget you! I mean to unlock the secrets figure out that cream the rabbit can fly is a tough thing to do in one hour kid!All you people do is complain you people go to five years of college or more and make one character last more then te years. Let along three games, Sonic has been there since a long time he has done his best he has done everything he can and I say give him a break! After a while of games Yuji Naka ran out of ideas is it his fault! You tru to entertain a bunch strangers as a living tell me if it's fun go ahead! And the music? COME ON! If you were in to the game the music wouldn't matter at all not one bit! Not one! So what I say is stop whinning play the game unlock all the mini get the missions done play the mini collection beat those games and then when it comes out get Sonic Heroes and then complain again and I'll tell you what to do ok? Do it now! My score was nine but after this I changed my mind I'm going to give it a ten just because I'am a true Sonic fan and don't care about the small stuff! turn up the Sonic music! All I have to say islong live the hedgehog and no one else! Rock on for another ten years Sonic!
| Pretty hmHMhm... | | PhoeniX from The Netherlands, zaandam says (31/Aug/2003): | I know this is an old version of the dreamcast version, but who cares? it has loads of new/better things! Like the mini-games. +-12 old game gear games that still are fun to play :] . The graphics have increased also a lot and the expirience with a gamecube controller is twice better as the dreamcast 1. Also the sound is better so i dont think this game dissapoints you at all. :) just buy it even you HAVE the dc version
| this game is so good | | rottingchao from austin, tx , usa says (30/Sep/2003): | oh this game was so good and I liked it so much I kept on playing it. and I liked all the levels and stuff even if I only had sonic adventure 2 first. even if it's old I laughed at the way Sonic talks with his mouth all open and stuff with sharp teeth. I just wanted to say that this is a great game and you should play it
| sonic adventure is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | Chaos-X from Glasgow scotland says (7/Nov/2003): | in sonic dx directiors cut i love the whole game its a pitty u cant go super sonic to do stuff like missions and the chaos i have a black chao and its called
Chaos X and looks like a lion soon im gettin heros and a gamecube so ill contact u all later!
| Okay, I guess but should have been WAY better | | Angus from Kennewick WA USA says (11/Jul/2003): | When I played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, It was heaven. The length of the game and the thought that once you collect all of the emblems you would get a new level. I played non-stop for 4 months until I got an A on every mission. I made an "A a day" program to make sure I paced myself. When Socin DX started to get close, I was expecting just as good or better. My Gamecube was broken and I spent $75 to get it repaired so I could play DX. After two days of playing it, I was so dissapointed I wanted to cry. It wasn't a fraction of how good the prequal (sequal, whatever) was. There was now scoring an A, B, C, D, or E. It was just three crappy missions per level. Those went by with a breeze. The only good music was in the mystic ruins. The only reasons I'm giving it 6 stars is because 1. It's a Sonic Game. 2.The Knuckles missoins were good. 3. The graphics. It didn't have the insanely cool music like in Sonic 2 Battle. The controls while fishing make you want to throw your controler and have a fit. Big the Cat is so stupid I can't stand hearing him talk in the cinematics. If I were you I wouldn't buy this game. If it were more like $25, it would be a good choice because the chao system does rock. There are good gardens and golden chaos. One garden is on a tropical island with a missle sticking out of it. Yeah, so if you don't think you want to buy this game, I would rent it a few times (maybe even once). You should beat it by then. The mini games are a nice little bonus to the game though. The game all around is fun for a small bit, then it gets boring. Rent it or borrow it.
| It was good, but the cinemas were terrible. | | jamie from Baltimore, Maryland,USA says (17/Jul/2003): | sonic adventure dx is awesome, but the story had a few loose ends, like who the hell is that little ball of light that tells you where to go? Also, why did Gamma have to die he was pretty cool. I mean he says that he's rescuing the other e-series robots and then he kills them! Then he kills himself which is pretty dumb.
| A pretty good game | | Irmy from Denver says (25/Aug/2003): | When sonic adventure 2 battle came out i got it and became one of my favorite games. I rented this game and a was really disappointed. Compared to SA 2 Battle this game sucked. There was no Shadow and the little movie things were horrible. The game was really, really short and the characters could learn hardly any moves. The graphics were a small improvement. The voices sucked and there mouths moved weird when they talk. All the boses were pathetic and only took three easy hits each. Also, chao became worse too. No chao karate and the races are hard to understand. The final boss was stupid and didnt take any skill to beat. All the ancient sonic games are stupid and there was no point to put them in the game. Having more players was one of the few good parts about the game even though most characters only have maybe 5 short levels. All in all, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle blew this game away.
| Bigger than the DC version, but better? | | Foe2317 from Manchester, England says (16/Apr/2004): | I would first like to point out the fact that I have been a Sonic fan ever since I can remember, and I have stood by him even when Sonic Adventure 2 was released. Just thought I'd clear that up in case I got some hate mail, and this review is best suited for a Sonic fan who is contemplating wether or not to get Sonic Adventure DX, and is prepared to spend a lot of time reading, anyway, where do I begin? Well, let's start with the changes in this version of the game. In the Dreamcast version, the aim of the game for most players was to complete it. Then there was the Chao thing which didn't last long, mainly because of the lack of variety that it had to offer (and no it wasn't a Pokemon rip-off!), and then of course there was the emeblem collecting. Now, those who read previews of Sonic Adventure for the under-rated DC will all back me when I say that the emblem collecting was to be worthwhile. Whenever the emblems were mentioned, the writer would always state that something would happen if you collected ALL the emblems. Well I did, and guess what happened? Yes, that's right, the same thing as usual, Sonics cheeky face pops up in that emblem and underneath it , the number switches from 159 to 160 (or was it 179 to 180? I forget!), anyway, that was it! So there! Up until you completed the main objective of the game, which was to complete the story, it was the best game ever, but what a let-down with the emeblems. This was complained about by Sonic fans everywhere, and SEGA listened. So what do they do? In the worst Sonic game ever made (and I mean EVER!), they give you the chance to play in a 3D Green Hill Zone. Oh no, please, don't give me too much, I've only just spent 2 years collecting every single emblem, and now after spending a tenth of my life trying to fully complete the most annoying and disgracefully poor Sonic game and probably just 'game' of all time, your only giving me an old level in 3D? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!(Trust me, if I was allowed to, I'd be swearing more times in a sentence, than Eminem does on an album!)
So, another failure in an attempt to add something more to the Sonic Adventure games. Oh well. They then added some more features to the pathetic 'Adventure 2' in the Gamecube form of 'Adventure 2 Battle'(which does not deserve to bear the name Sonic in the title!). What now SEGA? Nintendo fans want the first one. SEGA fans loved the first one but still want more, what are you going to do? What's that? You're going to release a re-vamped version of the original? Great!
Now I must admit, when I heard abou this I was buzzing more than a pee'd off wasp. The graphics looked superb, it boasted new features, new this, new that, new everything! During this period though, I began thinking that it would just be another failure, but when they mentioned the Game Gear games, oh how I loved SEGA. My mouth watered, just gazing at the screensgots. I couldn't wait, and then...it arrived!
My aunties boyfriend who has been posted on an island somewhere near Saudi Arabia came down to my home in Manchester to visit. He's quite well-off, so he usually buys me a game, of which I am eternally greatful for, as money burns a hole in my pocket faster than Sonic can run. So anyway, he buys me Sonic Adventure DX. What do I do? I rush home straight away, pop the disc in my Gamecube, and we're off. I notice every single change in the game. The Sonic Team intro. thing isn't as good as the Dreamcast's one. Instead of the cute-sounding 'Sonic Team' with the image fading in from the water, we are greeted by a white screen with the Sonic Team logo plastered on. Then we've got the intro. movie. Virtually the same. Then we come to the title screen. Somehow, a picture of Sonic in 3D stood next to the words 'Sonic Adventure DX Directors' Cut' isn't as good as the classic 'Sonic Adventure' logo with that recognisable Sonic Adventure background. I start to worry. I press start, and the menu's the same, apert from the fact that it has a couple more options, but you'd expect that due to the new features. I check the modified options screen, which isn't better than the Dreamcasts' either, and then start the game. You can instantly tell that the enviroments have been revamped to incorpirate the altered graphics of the main characters, but it's sort of an illusion, as the only grapics that are actually improved are the six playable characters, Navi, Chaos, Eggman, and the other
E-100 robots. I whup Chaos Zero's butt in the same way as on the Dreamcast, but I am watching a slightly altered cut-scene, whic I can skip, unlike in the Dreamcast version. For some gamers, this is very good, but really, you must always sit through the cut-scenes if you want to appreciate Sonic Adventure in all its glory. The same type of thing runs throughout the game. Those who played the DC original will notice these little tweaks, but those who never played it, or only briefly played it would explectedly not notice them.
The sound is still great, the voices are and actually were great, just a few robotic-lines, but they're expected in this kind of game. The music is still great too, which is thankfully the same as the originals, because let's face it, the 're-mixes' on 'Adventure 2' were so pathetic, it was unbelievable. Probably the best music and most memorable is that of the Mystic Ruins. Anyone who's ever played Sonic Adventure on either format would agree that it goes with the Mystic Ruins area, and it is very soothing. It also makes me feel sad, as it reminds me of the year 1999, which I miss dearly.
The gameplay is immense. You don't have that feeling that you control Sonic, you feel you ARE Sonic. The fact that it it is an Actiuon/Adventure game is great. SEGA took a big risk with this in '99, and quite a lot of people hated it. But us true Sonic fans know deep down that there is more to Sonic than just 2D platforming, and that it should be shown, and it has done through the genius type of gamplay that can only be experienced in Sonic Adventure. However, that brings us to the huge downfall in the gamplay. Somehow, all the new features take points off the gamplay score, as in some uneplainable way, it ruins it. You don't get that special feeling playing it like you do on the DC version. I don't really want to go into that though, because only true Sonic fans know where I'm comin from.
Although the main part of the game hasn't really got the sufficient type of gameplay, the missions kinda do. Once you've completed story mode, you unlock the Missions game, in which you run around the three Adventure Fields looking for missions. It's sort of like running around looking for an emblem, then having to perform a task to get it. However, it is in riddel form, so you have to use your brain. Every ten missions you complete, you unlock a Game Gear game, which is great for us in England, as we never saw Sonic Drift or Tails' Adventures. Great stuff!
The lifespan of this one is version is huge. If you're a hard core Sonic fan (yes I realise that I go on about it and that I write a lot of brackets), you have tons of replay value siply for the fact that you can be Sonic (or Tails or Knuckles, Amy, Big, Gamma, whatever). The annoying emblem thing is still there, and so are the Chao; but you try doing the Missions. They are hard. Mainly finding them's the hard part, but so are the riddles.
As I am running out of your patience, I'll end by saying buy it. BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT! Or more prefferably buy a Dreamcast and the original. The original would have scored 9 or even 10 because of how much it means to us Sonic fans. BUY IT!
| Not just another boring review! | | Knux13 from Los Angeles says (3/Jul/2003): | When I heard that my all time favorite video game production company was planning on porting several of their Dreamcast games to the Nintendo Gamecube, I was thrilled. Although I had played the DC on several occasions, I never had the chance to own one, so you can imagine my excitement. I have purchased every Sonic the Hedgehog game made for the GC thus far (Sonic is one of my childhood favorites), and this was by far one of the best. As for the graphics, they're excellent, and although the camera sometimes gets stuck, this is not a major problem, and can usually be remodied by jumping or tapping the camera buttons. The plot is really very good for a late 90's 3-D pioneer game, and assuming you pay attention to the cinema scenes, should leave you thinking for a while. There are numerous little things to look at and go back through the game for. One thing I really enjoyed was the old robo-sonic bosses from the older games, Metal Sonic (from Sonic CD, but best known from Sonic Adventure 2: Battle) and the meaner looking Mecha Sonic (a little-known end boss from Sonic the Hedgehog 2). On one final note, I just have to say that those who thought that E-102 g's ending was sad either didn't get what was going on, or looked away at the very end and missed the "reunion."
| Sonic, what has happened to you | | codename 555 from Los Angeles, California says (15/Jul/2003): | Here is the deal. I've never played the dreamcast version of sonic adventure so i tried it out on gamecube. I found that this game could have been alot better. The camera view was anoying and the music wasnt as good as in adventure 2. But i must tell you super sonic was really funny, I laughed for about half an hour trying to defeat altimate chaos. I didn't like it that much, but i keeep playing with the game because of mission mode. If you get the game rent it, don't buy of you don't have anything to do for about 1 and a half hour. Still i think the sonic team could have done alot better with the camera, music, and adventure field. Overall the overall story was great and the battle with chaos. Well, thats about all I can say see you guys later. (:
