Rebel Strike Kicks Tail Pipe |
| "Poppy" from Westville, New Jersey says (4/Nov/2003): |
I rented Rebel Strike thinking it was just another Rogue Squadron 3D takeoff like Rogue Leader was. Well, I was completely wrong. There are dozens of new craft and missions, new challenges and unlimited cans of whoop---. I was dissapointed at the on-foot part of the game, as the controls and camera angles where pretty awkward. Though that is to be expected, as this is the first time you play on-foot in a Rogue Squadron game. (Thus why I give it a 9). The game was full of suprises, especially the end of "Guns of Dubrillion" level. I also felt the star wars disco remix was pretty catchy, if I say so myself. Wich reminds me of the arcade. I thought it was really cool that you could play the old 1983 star wars games when you beat the game. So I give it a 9. -1 point due to the on-foot thing. Hopefully more will come.

Out does the Original!!! |
| Lint from Alliston, Ontario, Canada says (6/Nov/2003): |
At first glance you may think it will be a lot of the same stuff that was in Rogue Sqaudron 2 but believe it or not it greatly out does the second one. First of all the graphics are even improved upon which says a lot considering the graphics in the second one were all ready amazing. They also included digitalized portions of the movie into the game which is a plus.
On top of a great one player campaign they also included all the original Rogue Leader missions into a co-operitive mode, as well as a versus mode. Just including these multiplayer options make it twice as good as the original which was a solo adventure.
Then on top of an excellent core game there's all the small bonuses you can unlock which shows you the amount of quality and care put into the game by it's makers. The only complaint is that in the on foot portions of the game you can't control the camera and it takes a little while to adjust to the character controls. Even still it's a very impressive display on part of the producers for thier first game with people instead of just space crafts. All in all it is far better then most Star Wars games out there for two reasons. First of all it follows the movies fairly closely and you get to control characters and vehicles that are famously known in the Star Wars universe.(Not like in others where your some character you've never heard of and piloting space ships that you've never seen in a movie ei. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic). Second it's more then fun to play alone as with a friend, providing more replay value then most Star Wars games!

Fantastic |
| Mad max from Mos Esley, Tattoine says (8/Nov/2003): |
Simply fantastic, the best game I've ever played !! Graphisms, musics, spacecrafts, everything is great, buy it now !!!! Just one problem : the capital ships like Star Destroyers or Mon Calamari cruisers are too small, i.e. : look at the Blockade Runner, there is a good scale between it and the destroyer, but, it's too small for a ship like a frigate : it's only 2 times bigger than a starfighter !! Without that, everything's OK !!

A really great game. |
| Dave from Royal Brittania says (9/Nov/2003): |
Rebel Strike gives all fans of Star Wars a really good feel for Star Wars gaming. This game is a must buy as it mixes on-foot and flight action. The short of it is great graphics, great crafts and one seriously great game.
I urge you all to go to the mall or store to buy your copy and my friends you will love it !!!!Even if you love or hate Star Wars.

Could have been better, should have been better. |
| Bozboo from Bolton, UK says (10/Nov/2003): |
I bought this game expecting Rogue Leader....but much much better. I was bitterly disapointed. First of all I found it was WAY too easy to complete. And then there's the third person sections. Not much to do but point and shoot. The graphics are top notch and some of the best I have ever seen. It sounds like George Lucas himself oversaw all the audio aspects of the game. They are that good. But overall, a lacklustre sequel to an excellent game. Die hard Star Wars fans will lap this up. But if you have only a slight affinity with the Force, I wouldn't bother.

AWSOME GAME, rent it or buy it now!!! |
| Yoda's assasin & Ewok hunter from Boise,USA says (10/Dec/2003): |
The only problem I've seen is how hard it is to get medals on some missions. The imbisiles (INSULT!!!) who hate the game must be some sereously hardcore trekies (NOT INSULT!!!) or something (I DON'T LIKE STAR TREK!!!). GOOD GRAPHICS, compair this game with Star Wars Bounty Hunter cutscenes. The TIE fighters are awesome in multiplayer, they have an incredable rate of fire. Another cool vehicle is the AT-AT, the downside of it is that you cant totally control it (It moves and steers on it's own) but you have complete control over the head and big guns. Beware of the Fondor shipyard level, it's probably the hardest level in the game in my opinion, turrets everywhere and to many tight spaces(killed me 10-30 times combined). If the ranking went to 1,000,000 I would give this game that score. If you want a good flight game this is it so far, watch for other games coming out like Star Wars Republic Comando (Summer 2004).
Sorry about any typos

Very good game |
| A gamer says (17/Jan/2004): |
This game is no doubt one of the best SW's games out there that is worth evry minute of your life and earnd money. The over all effect of the game will blow you away.Graphics were astounding and the lighting and sound efects were great, the voice acting was better then ecxpected. The way the sound and visuals are presented are unmatched by the other two games. (8.8 & 9.1) The levels were just like the movies and I was really impressed with this game. The ships are highly detailed and the explosions (I like things that go boom :) ) are in the best quality imagenable.

One of the best Gamecube games ever! |
| A gamer from south dakota says (30/Dec/2003): |
This was probably one of the best Star Wars games ever created for the gamecube. I really enjoyed the new multiplayer mode they added and the graphics were really good. The new cooperative mode(two player mode of Rogue Leader) is very difficult to beat. They also have a versus mode for you and another player can have dog fights (air battles), races, and other cool games. The only problem I found with this game is that the one player mode is to easy to beat. I had it finished the second day I bought. But besides that, the games excellent!

Good Game with a few flaws |
| Juan from mexico city says (3/Nov/2003): |
if u loved rogue leader u will like rebel strike.. but u wont love it same way... the graphics are better, u can play rogue leader in coperative mode... battle of endor with a friend is very funˇ, the versus mode its fun too and the missions are good overall... i didnt like the missions on foot, those third person missions really suckˇˇˇ the camera in this missions is terrible, just run and shoot, run and shoot without aiming, without A.I. without action... i wish they had put something like desert storm third person gameplan.. but i guess thats to much to ask for.
however its a good game you wont regret buy it.

yoda can die |
| rob from michigan says (11/Nov/2003): |
i like the game exept for yoda he angered me greatly , telling me to with my charecter luke raise the x wing with the force, well i tried and i dont know what the little green bum wanted from me cuz i was using a turbo controller but still i didnt raise it fast enough to his liking he failed me, and i really wanted to dive into the tv and kick his ancient force abusing behind but then i relized that im not kenue reeves and cant do such reality defing stunts so instead i let my anger bottle and infest inside but i feel a little better now for sharing this with u and my over all rating is a six because i enjoyed the rest of the game

good but... not so good |
| A gamer from Farmington Hills, USA says (26/Dec/2003): |
I have all of the rouge squadron games and I like them all, but this one is my least favorite. First of all I think it is very hard on some levels to get a gold, or even silver medal. I still havent figured out how to raise targeting computer efficiency and some of the demands are pretty hard to meat. The one other thing that buds me is that the game was way to short. I beat it in one day. the levels need to be londer and there needs to be a whole lot more of them. Over all though it's a good game. Graphics are great and it's very fun.

it left me speechless |
| A gamer from beccles uk says (23/Nov/2003): |
I think that this game is the most excellent thing i have played in the past year. the graphics are superb the gameplay is fantastic and the mission structure is great.sure the walking parts have bits which are hard to control but in all the other rogue squadron games you haven't been able to play the most cool and heroic parts of the film, for example the sarlacc pit and the battlefield hoth mission. It is hard to rack up enough points to unlock the bonus missions but hey i just replay the missions and try to get better at them and i don't complain because thats part of the fun of it. I absolutely love the multiplayer and versus missions especially the endor race.if i see a better game on the market by the time its january i'll shove a banana up my arse. That's a promise.

I am a massive fan, but..... |
| UncleFister from Downpatrick says (15/Nov/2003): |
I have had all the Rogue Squadron games, and I have to say that this is my least favourite. Rogue Leader was far better. The thing I don't like is the on-foot missions. They're pretty bad. It usually involves blasting corridors full of Stormtroopers. It is a little easy, but this is due to complaints that Rogue Leader was too hard. This is still a very good game never the less. The lighting effects are even better than the previous, the new ground mision on the bike and in the walkers are cool. The things I miss are the camera options, I loved closing in to see the detail, now you can't do that. I'd also like to see the model viewer return. I would recommend this to anyone who likes fun, the two player game is superb racing, fighting and working together this is good!

being FORCED out |
| Hannible from Toronto,Canada says (27/Oct/2003): |
I was really looking forward to this game,as i have loved all the rogue squadron adventures. from playing the demo disk, i thought that getting out of the ship might be kind of cool.gonig around, take out some AT's and such.HOWEVER...it turned out to be the worst thing ever!!!In one game, they ruined the series for me. Dont get me wrong,i still love 1&2,but 3 is the worst.i hate the missions where you arent in some vehicle. If i wanted a star wars game where you have to run and jump, there are plenty of (bad) ones out there. i wanted rogue squadron!!! i've beat the game, and let me say that there is still some really good rogue action, the graphics are great, and the sound effects are amazing. on the gamplay side, all vehicle missions are great, all on foot missions are horrible. there are some that have both, and both of my former views apply to these. for me, the lifespan and fun factor is limited to only vehicle missions. if the next game has getting out and runing around....i will not buy it. anyone who is thinking about buying this game cause they think getting out is great, find someone who has it and has the "trials of the jedi" mission unlocked. i think you'll change your mind.

The force wasn't really with him. |
| Alex from Orlando, Florida says (16/Nov/2003): |
As with others, I was really looking forward to this game coming out. However, I was slightly disappointed, mainly by the footman aspect. You can't change camera angles, it's a button masher and a run-and-gun part of the game. This is a cool new aspect of the game, but it's still in its early stages of developement. In the flying missions, the graphics are better, more realistic, and much more difficult. However, some missions are so difficult you can end up doing it over and over again, and the medals are WAY too demanding (I wish they did withot the targeting computer efficiency) Also, its not much different from the older Rogue Squadrons. Another problem, is your wingman, if you order them to get ties, they'll probably only destroy maybe one or two within 5 minutes. Ground targets, maybe less. The AI needs improvement, as the regular ties, theres many, but they aren't very smart. Another problem, yet again, is the fact that theres no noise when your butt is getting a whoopin by a stalking TIE.
The best thing about Rebel Strike, is the new multiplayer aspect. WHAT A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT. The missions for CO-OPERATIVE are ripped from Rogue Leader, but its so much more fun when you can split jobs, like u can get the TIEs while he bombs a target. Another REALLY, REALLY cool thing is in the falcon, one is the turret operator, and the other is the pilot...pure fun at its best.
Overall this is a great game, in its growing stage, but I think this would have done a much better job being online. Nintendo really needs to look for a bigger multiplayer aspect online like XBox and PS2. The single player, ah, ok, but they shoulda done without it for now. The multiplayer is the best part of it all.

Not good at all! |
| Simone from Canada says (25/Oct/2003): |
I have played some demos and other aspects of the whole game and thought it was just another "Star Wars" game. It got boring easily, even after playing it for a few minutes, and I'm a big "Star Wars" fan. Okay, graphics are good, but still, it's the same thing as it always has been, so it has a low game life. The characters were about the same and controlls were terrible. I definately do not suggest getting it when it comes out in your area. Really.

A Star Wars Game to beat all other games |
| Alfirio Delgado from Bedminster, NJ says (30/Oct/2003): |
I am so sure this game is the best Star Wars game there is it is like totally awesome. This game has good quality and it has excellent graphics. The control is very good only sometimes does it get confusing but its easy to master. I believe that the voice acting is great even though they were not able to bring Denis Lawson back. The sound is good so if you have surround sound put it on and play the game it will feel like you are in the game enviroment. The graphics are very good it looked like Mark Hammill was on the speeder bike and not some polygon player.
The light reflection is good it makes it look more real. The trees on endor are cool i mean its really fun to crash into them on purpose. The Space battles aren't bad either the lasers light reflects when you narrowly miss a bad guy. I like the originality of it because it has some things no other star wars game has. The game has a lot of bad guys in space and on the ground. The fun factor is very high because it has you entranced in it until you beat the level. It all feels very real when you are in first person prospective and with the rumble feature it feels as if it is not just a game but real life like you must not lose because you could die. The games is also fun because there is no other game that gives you this much fun of flight adventure on land and racing in between trees in an endless forest. The lifespan is high because people want to unlock all the hidden features and play with friends in a dogfight, rampage, or cooprative mode. The camera modes are good except here is my only complaint on the part of a missoin when you are on foot the camera doesn't follow you it changes by itself and sometimes your character can die because of this. Every part on the other hand is excellent. One last thing I like how they made the ships better than before and i like the multiplayer mode. I am happy how the game is and how good the graphics and sound are. Now here are my scores on Rebel Strike. Graphics get a excellent 10 sound another 10 lifespan a 9 and gameplay another 9.

very very sweet! |
| A gamer from CT says (18/Nov/2003): |
I have almost every star wars game and this one is in the top 3.
It's way better rogue leader! Way more fun and not sooo hard that when you finally beat a level you never want to play it again. I can't stop playing it. The controls on the e-web blasters, at-st's and at-at's are a little jerky but you get used to it fast. I'm never gonna get tired of this game!!!
|
It's worth the money. |
| Matthew from Brookline, Massachusetts, USA says (31/Dec/2003): |
This is definitely the best star wars game that has come out. Its worth every cent you saved up for it. The graphics were the best I've seen, the sound was impressive and taken straight from the movies. The story line is taken from the first 3 movies and the feel of the ships haven't changed. The new feature of being abled to walk is cool, the pace could be a little quicker, and auto aim should be removed. The light saber levels are cool, follows the script of what Luke knows what to do with it. The game was a bit short, but the trick they put in was so that you'd have to go back to playing to get more points to unlock the secret missions and ships. If you didn't realize it the first time you played, the second time you'll realize this game was fun and you'll be going back to the missions you like and you'll be there some time.
