MARIO KART ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | paul from bend, oregon, usa says (2/Mar/2006): | this game was awesome everyone should get a gamecube and play it! i found a shortcut on bowsers castle when the head shoots firballs on the sharp turn go straight and turn when u land on the other side. me and my bro do it everytime it really works. it's kinda hard to get the goldkart and i always use baby luigi and toadette.play it now 7 out of 10 would be a good rating too if you make one and rate it. thats what i did. i play all the time and recomend you buy it. only for nintendo gamecube
| This game is for pimps only | | A gamer from The Colony, Texas says (30/May/2005): | It's hard to say.... what are the words I'm looking for... Ah yes! THE BEST GAME ON THE FACE OF THIS PLANET!!! I've got some pros and cons, but, let me tell ya, the pros outweigh the cons by 99.9%!!
Pros: This is one game where multiplayer madness can grasp hold of your mind in an instant. It's awesome, and the fun just won't back down. Gameplay is very deep. You might even be playing this five years from now while your Sony collects dust and all kinds of other crap. Music and sound seem to blow right out of your stereos and into your room! It's powerful and catchy, not to mention character voice acting was magnificant! Kart design was intresting and colorful. Weapons are unique to each Person, which adds to the chaos on the dangerous roads of the Mushroom Kingdom. The courses are different and may be even dangerous! Ex: Chain Chomps, ice, rocks, 300 foot drops, wooden bridges, ect... Unlockables include secret characters, new courses, and the infamous mirror mode!!! And to top it all off, there is a cup that lets you play all 16 race courses at once! Finally, there is LAN. This allows all players to race on different telivisions without the splitscreen option. Yes, this isn't a wonderful feature, but it is fun. Now, to the cons.
Cons: Graphics were a littly sloppy. If you ever get a close up of Mario or some other guy, they appear blocky. Also, COM AI could have been harder. I always find myself placing 1st every race, which doesn't present that big of a challenge.
All in all, this has to be one of my favorite games of all time. See if you agree! 10/10
| I beat it but still play | | Pikachu [Jesse Jacob Yensick] from Brownsville,Pensylvania USA says (2/May/2005): | This is a easy game at start, but it gets harder after a while. Belive me I played E,T and M but its a suuuuuuuuuuuuuper MARIO Kart game!!! When I beat it I was 6 now I am 8 at the end when YOU beat it u [you] get the cart [KART] u're in when you beat a cup in 1st. It's a super great game! I liked it and still play it! Its super funny! Mostly I play as: Mario and Luigi also the babys and Toad and Toadtee! I get unhappy some times. But laugh its very funny!
| Double The Fun | | Thomas from Melbourne, Australia says (4/Apr/2004): | Take the crazy fun from all past Mario Kart games and then multiply it by two. This is what this game is about. Allowing you to take control of not one but two characters. This is one of Nintendo's finest. This could possibly be the Gamecube's greatest multiplayer.
Mario Kart: Double Dash is all about teamwork. No longer do racers ride solo. They have to team up and work as a team. Not only that, the decision of kart has to be made, which makes things more interseting. As well as that, each character has a unique weapon that only he or she can use. Although this may be alot different than the past Mario Kart games, it simply just falls into place nicely.
As usual there are different levels of difficulty in the game. 50cc, 100cc and 150cc, as well as mirror mode which can be unlocked, not forgetting the inclusion of being able to unlock hidden characters, karts and even speacial cups.
Nothing much has changed in Grand Prix mode. You race on four different tracks (or 16 in a hidden tour) and are awarded points at the end of each race. The points system has changed a bit from Mario Kart 64 and no longer do you have to finish 4th or better to qualify to the next race. Co-op mode is when two people using seperate controllers wish to race as a team. Each person controls a different character. Team work is required here.
Battle mode has been made a whole lot more enjoyable. There are now three modes in which to choose from. Battle mode still has a place in this version of Mario Kart. Each player begins with three balloons attached to thier kart. Throughout the game you try to knock, hit, etc. the other players in order for them to lose their balloons. A handy new feature allows others to steal other peoples balloons, either by boosting into them with a turbo, sliding into them or sending them flying when you have a star active.
Shine thief invovles a Super Mario Sunshine shine being placed on the battlefield. It is a race to see who can get to it first. When someone has retrieved it a timer will appear on the screen. If the player who is in possesion of the shine can keep it for the time remaining, they win. If the lose it by getting hit, struck by lightning, etc. they lose it and its a race to see who can get to it first. The game ends when a player holds it for the allocated time.
Bob-omb blast is my favourite. In this mode everyone can get their hands on bob-ombs. Its a battle to see who can hit four people the fastest. Points can gained and lost by getting hit or hitting someone. It is crazy.
Finally, what is the game like graphicly and gameplay-wise? Firstly, the graphics are astounding. Very few mistakes and they reach the gamecube's standards. Gameplay is a bit of a let-down. This game is absolutely fun to play with others, but alone, after everything has been unlocked, nothing screams attention for you to keep playing it. Plus the fact that in 50cc and 100cc the speed that the karts go is slow and is just not right, adds to it.
Other than that this game is a must for gamecube owners. Don't let this one go by, you'll regret it.
| One Problem | | A gamer from Dayton, Ohio U.S says (26/Mar/2004): | I LOVED THE GAME!!! The graphics were good, it's an improvement over the N64 version(which I don't know how that's possible:) )
But to me, there was one problem: TO ME, the game was a little too short.......I know some of you fans and die-hard fans will most likely say thats not true, but it to me. I know there are bonus things such as carts, extra cups and 3 difficulty levels, but still.Yet I do think it's a little too short, I still recommend this game to anyone!!! It's not my favorite, but it's a very good game!!!:)
| Mario Kart is DA BOMB! | | A gamer from Shaumburg, Illinois, USA says (22/Mar/2004): | This game is the greatest one. If i had to compare this to the first one i'd give this a 100 out of 100 and give the old one just 5 out of 100. This game is full of cheats codes and shortcuts that will keep you off of your seat in excitement.....eXtReMe EXITEMENT. Mario Kart double dash is named after a trick called double dash(don't know from where). Well for all you gamers i'd reccomend to get this.( Just to give you a Hint 2 of the secret characters are Petey Pirahna and King Boo). Fun and Greatness in one game. Now, could it be any better. (Hope Not)!
| It is really fun! | | A gamer from New Jersey, USA says (21/Mar/2004): | I thought this was a great game! I had never played Mario Kart or Mario Kart 64 but this is the most fun Game Cube game ever! I love figuring out all of the short cuts and racing other computers(i hate that peach!)My friends and I play this for hours! If you don't like it because of graphics or something, why would you care what the screen looks like, or what sounds The game makes; it's just really fun! You should just kick back relax and enjoy the game instead of complaining about it. I think that everyone should get this gameon game cube (only $100).
| What were they thinking | | A gamer from Dublin, Ireland says (8/Mar/2004): | Ok seriously this game at 50cc is simple, at 100cc there is a big jump in difficulty. By 150cc your thinking "What the hell..." and then by mirror mode when the same characters win all the races you don't, or are coming second if you win the race, your computer is in bits on the floor! I wonder if anyone can tell me that they think its actually fun when your winning a race the whole way through but when you get to the end you get totally hammered by every weapon imaginary!
It starts off a really cool game by it definately falls short of full marks!
| Not As Good As F-Zero GX! | | Chris Alexandre from Jersey says (23/Feb/2004): | An ideal game for Mario freaks like me and some other people. I've experienced the Mario Kart games ever since I was a young child. Mario Kart: Double Dash is a good game to play, but to myself I prefer the game F-Zero GX for Gamecube as on F-Zero GX you can save and watch your replay's and do loads on F-Zero GX and their is nothing much in Mario Kart: Double Dash. Overall, this is not such a bad game but I belive that the director could have done a little bit more to make this game top of the list in some game shops.
| Excellent Racing Game | | Beaker from Manitoba, Canada says (22/Feb/2004): | Double Dash is an excellent game overall. I admit that I miss the N64 version somewhat, as it had a few more ways to take shortcuts (or maybe I miss that it was easier?), as well as some levels that were just plain excellent. Some of the 'shortcuts' in this version are not shortcuts at all, but will actually set you back and behind the other players!! 150cc on Double Dash is definitely a lot harder than 150cc on N64, which is rewarding for those of us who breezed through the N64 game. The new characters are fun, as well. Two things I wish they had: the ability to play 4 people vs each other in Grand Prix mode (you can't do this on Double Dash; you have to team up with another player), and also, I wish that when you were choosing karts, they listed the capabilities of each kart regardless of whether there are one or four people playing. Battle mode is EXCELLENT and WAY better than N64- the shine thief and bomb game are fantastic and absolutely HILARIOUS to play in groups!! The idea of unlocking new levels is also really rewarding. I don't regret buying this game at all. It's really fun, has excellent graphics, beautiful scenery, great new ideas, and is an overall good time. I highly HIGHLY recommend it!!!

| | Brain Combo from Washington Dc, France! says (20/Feb/2004): | This is mario at his highest bestest. The Mario can do many-a things, including jump, run, stand really still for a long time, jump, jumper higher, be an over bad-butt, injure your friends and loved ones if threatened, and jump. Also, during power outages in the great metro or non-metro area of your town or village, Throw this your game at a wall, tree, person, or gangsta rapping his bling, yo! Mario is a red guy from Germany. Contrary to lots of popularity believers, Mario is not directly related to Luigi, who is a sick, lieing, son of a GYPSY. I am the loving the game. Get this game, or rent it at a purchasing store, to have the fun of the throwing or the jumping or of the dancing to the great music. The music is like of that of that of a local-band that plays not-so-quality mario-type music. I love to eat my favorite cheesburger while watching the openeing and playing with my toes and peting my dog and talking on the cellular tellphone and getting the mail and doing my homework and beating up my crippled cousin Andy. Andy does not like Mario because Andy does not have a neck. Andy should get a neck {and a life [ and Mario}and a non-metro mario music jammin band]), so he can enjoy all that he can enjoy, at the beauty parler my aunt with no neck owns. In general, Mario the great! Mario has a nice neck. Overall, my cousin with no neck gives me the heasy-buh-jeasys fo' sheasy and needs to buy Mario cause the great! I love! Mario the next? OUI!
| Mario Kartes is great i rate it 10 out of 10 | | Danny from Birmingham says (10/Feb/2004): | I think this is the best game for the gamecube by far.i had this game the first day it came out and i still play it even thow i have compleated it by winning all the charecters, maps and new kartes. My good looking girlfriend helped me do this(Hayley).I hope that u all can get as good as me on it some day Dan the man.I am called a game addict maybe because im on games 24 7 .My best game at the moment is socom online this is also a wicked game. | The best racing game ever made!!! | | Areil Johnson from Weirton, West Virginia,, USA says (8/Feb/2004): | Mariokart: double dash is the best game I own because I love the game and the graphics. The grapics are so much better than the N64 version. The characters are so cool! The grapics are better on all the characters and all the karts. My 2 favorite characters are,Walugi and Wario because they have good speed and you can't get hit off the road as much as you can with everbody else. Out of the games on the shelf this game is best one! I chose the rating of 10 because, the game so totaly rocks and is so much better than the N64 version! Rainbow Road is so much different than the N64 version and harder too because Rainbow Road in the N64 version has less turns and has more borders, unlike the Rainbow Road in the gamecube version that has barely no borders and many turns. All new characters are cool, Daisy, Waluigi, King Boo, and Toadette are all awesome. The game is so awesome I mean "Hey what can I say this game is so awesome that I wouldn't mind owning three of the game".The reason this the best racing game ever made is because all of the graphics, characters, sound effects, courses, karts ,and all the originality. So there you ave it that is my reveiw over Mario Kart: Double Dash.
| The Best Game Ever !!! | | Areil Johnson from Weirton, West Virginia says (31/Jan/2004): | Mario Kart n64 was an ok version but I still loved it. Ok , some people will probably think I'm crazy when I say this but Mario Kart : Double Dash Is 10 times better than the oringinal, the graphics are better, the courses are better, the v.s. is better, the charaters are better, and the karts are better. Ok, what can I say it is all better than the oringinal. I play the game almost every day that I am so close to beating it! If u want to e-mail me for tips go ahead my e-mail adress will be attached. This game is truly the best game ever!!!
| This game is awesome | | Jordan from Presque Isle, ME says (19/Jan/2004): | Way better than the original. There are many new items such as a giant koopa shell and a huge banana. There is a classic blue shell but it can fly! The level's are awesome because of the Gamecube's great graphics. The new way of playing this is cool. (I wish they had that on the N64 version)
Sound: Classic sounds such as the cart engine is not changed very much. The music is better, but some levels' music hasn't changed, but there is some difference because it is a different system. The sound of The weapons character screaming because he is being dragged is funny and most deffinatly new.
Graphics: Not needing to be said, because of the new systems the graphics are a lot better. And the characters' are looking.........well, alive! The other things such as the backrounds have better graphics. The water looks real. And the scenery looks real also. The creatures such as a bowser statue, a pirana plant, and chain chomps look perfect.
Gameplay: The gameplay is changed because the systems have very different controlers. And you cant bounce. For a couple of things, the attack button used to be Z and is now Y. They are in very different positions. The accelerate is still the A button, and are in basically the same place. The skid button was R, and it still is. Besides the controlers, the gameplay of the actual game is still pretty simple. The point of the game is to get trophies by beating your oponents to the finish line using weapons and powerups. Then unlocking characters, cars, tracks, and cups. (Another changed thing)
Lifespan: Pretty good. I could see myself playing this for a while. Beating the game will be hard because to officialy beat Mario Kart Double dash you must unlock all carts, tracks, cups, characters and wining all the trophies. That is one heck of a challenge!
Fun factor: All I can say is that It is very high and in my opinion a ten out of ten. Of course people who don't like racing styled games would not like this. Or maybe they didn't like the original Mario Kart 64. If you don't meet these standards don't buy the game. You most likely wouldn't like it if you didn't like the old game.
Originality: Of course it's changed because of the new double dash way of mario kart. But the controls are somehow near the same and in most ways it is like the old game except with more characters, new levels, and carts. They are still very different. But it is most like any other racing game.
Value: I would buy it if i werew you. But if you don't meet the standards (see fun factor above) you might not want to buy the game. I would pay $50 for this game wouldn't you? (See all above)
That's what I think of Mario Kart: Double dash. E-mail me sometime if you want more info before you buy it.
| what are all you thinking??? | | Lori S from Layton, Utah says (17/Jan/2004): | What kind of people complain about this game? Its great! Matt J said it was a waste, and not as good as the original just a repeat. But if it were going to be entirly new it wouldn't be named Mario Kart! Duh! Being able to pick your kart is the best new feature on this game. And know you can hold two items at once, not to mention the characters specials (Baby mario and Baby luigi's special is my personal favorite) All around great game. If you love racing, go out and get this game, you'll love it!!!!!!!!!
| snap yo's | | Ugly from Salt lake city, Utah says (15/Jan/2004): | it was awsomley spectactular and just plane cool everything from the new dk mountin to the amazing rambow road and i was verry impresed at how you could cary several items at once and the specal weapons are just wow i cant wate to get home from school and start playing of corse maby this game is the reason why my girlfriend left me maby i wasnt paying that much attention to her i was to buisy winning the mirror mode witch is harder than any of the orignals and i was also impressed at how diffcult the levels were im not saying that im a video game god but i beat the other games in a matter of 12 hours straight i know some of you might think i have a problem and i do my problem is that i have to leave my gamecube at home.
| Where are the shortcuts? | | A gamer from FL says (11/Jan/2004): | This game is alright but definately not as fun as MarioKart64! I mean where are the shortcuts and all the fun tracks? This doesnt have all the tracks that n64 had!! N64 was way better than this one!!I thought it was gonna be like the it when I bought it but I was really disappointed in it. I dont like the game that much. But I know that the graphics are prolly a lil better than n64 but thats about it! So the value of the game is not really worth it to me... but thats only my opinion!!
| Much better than the N64 version.A great sequil. | | brendan bassett from dublin says (2/Jan/2004): | Excellent courses and karts and great items to be used, mariokart doubledash is a beautiful idea with the 2 characters together and the graphics were brilliant. The only problem was that i finished it fully in 15 hours but it was a inspiring 15 houts.not only that but my freinds freind bought it so i didnt have to pay for it which is an added brucie bonus for me.My mate john says that it was much better than the super nintendo version but i think its very easy to top that version. I hope there will be another installment of mariokart on nintendos next console.Reto craiiig david signing out and a proper bo 2004 selecta.
| Mario Kart is the best racing game ever!!!!!!!! | | Aldo from California, USA says (2/Jan/2004): | Although this game is alot like the others its a much better gam than the others because it has better graphics twice as many characters and tons of new items and surprises I give it a ten out of ten and recomend to buy this game! there are a bumch short cuts just look closely at the sides of the tracks and if you see a passage go for it and don't trie to beat 150cc on
co-op mode because it just makes it harder instead do two players in separet cars to get rid of one computer player and don't attack each other good luck!
