THIS. GAME. ROCKS. PERIOD. | | Dominic from Murrieta, California, in the USA says (19/Jul/2005): | One of the best games for gamecube, F.F:C.C OWNS. Not only is the combat exciting, the music perfectly in tune with the maps, and the fact that you can spray paint a moogle, there are also so many thrilling ways to gain money and armor AND uber weapons. I play this game as often as possible, even thought it is about three years old. The graphics are breathtaking, the controls...a little confusing, and the weapons are nice. This game is worth $50 and the money for the link cables. Me out.
| cool game | | Havik(Evil Erik) from Ireland says (27/Dec/2004): | This was a cool game but lacked many things thateven the first FF had. It has an unusally high amount of things needed to play it's multiplayer mode, it's single player mode still was fun. I have played both modes and I most say it does lack some things in the single player mode, but it actually doesn't have anything different except that in the multiplayer mode you have to get someone who is playing to to carry that dumb cup thing.I personal like multiplayer game a lot more but that is just because I have TONS of friends that have games that can go up to 16 players at once. I have 4 multitaps for my PS2, if you don't know what that is then it is just something that allows you to plug in more controllers at once. I have online play for all the new systems : X-Box and PS2, but I am not sure if you can get online for GCube because I can't find anything about it even though it has all those things at the bottom of it, I know one is for the Gameboy player and one is for the portable thing for it but I think there could be something also for it. ANYWAY I think this was a cool game and I think anybody with a gamecube and is a FF fan than you should get it too.
| da bomb in ff..... well for the game cube. | | game bandit from usa says (8/Dec/2004): | This game is a must have to people who enjoyed free roaming like baldurs gate or any other games you get to roam freely in which is a first for the ff world. this game has some pretty good aspects to it for one it goes four player another first for ff and also the character models are great. but with all good things there comes the bad. for one to play four player you need four game boy advances and the conecters so you need to pay some pretty big bucks if your not a hard core gamer so its not that much of a casual aspect to it, but all in all its a good game
| Bending the way we play Final Fantasy, but keeping that good ol' F.F. goodness that we all know and love. | | Brendon Abbl from Oregon City, Oregon. says (29/Sep/2004): | Well, I was glad that Final Fantasy has returned home to Nintendo, but coming home with a improved look. Final Fantasy: Christal Chronicals lets all the platformer fans to get a taste of how great F.F. really is.
First is the great things about this game. The most noticable thing is the Graphics. In my opinion, this game has the most flawless graphics up to date. The detail on the water is just beautiful. Graphics are the strongest thing this game has, hands down. The next step down of awe-inspiring detail of this game is the sound efects and music. The sound design fits perfect and is almost flawless in the actual effect. The music for every area, whether it be a town, or dungeon, or the world map, or Miasma stream, or whatever. The music just sits right where it needs to be, and the music itself is very well composed. Gameplay has it's ups and it's downs. The control, it could be better, but let's face it, it could also be a lot worse. It's somewhat hard to do the three hit combo, with a little bit of button mashing, and a little hatred towards the bad guy, you might just pull a combo off on him/her/it, but that's if you're lucky. Spells and spell casting couldn't get any better, espesially on multi-player...Yes, you read correctly. Multi-player on a Final Fantasy game. It may sound wierd, but...It really kinda is...To play multi-player, each player must have a G.B.A. (Game Boy Advance) and a Game Boy Advance/Gamecube connection cord to play. It's only co-op, but the game's much more of a breeze when you have four guys (or girls) fighting a huge dragon, than just...You. With multi-player, you use your G.B.A. to see your characters personal stats, and items and whatnot, so you don't have to interupt the game on the T.V.. Yes, all of the players characters are on the T.V.. Think of it as the Zelda Four Swords Shadow Battle. Single player is a tad more difficult than multi, but it's a lot less simple, gameplay wise.
Not many downfalls are in this game to really hurt it. The game keeps the tradition of all other F.F. games in here. Intence Boss Fights, great characters (good and bad), flawless monster deisgn, beautiful music, great sound effects, and spectacular graphics. The only real flaws are that it's more derected towards the younger audience, and it doesn't have a real in depth story. Because you make your own main character, the plot doesn't revolve around you like every other F.F..
Overall, this game is pretty flawless in every perspective...And that's it. This game recieves a well deserved Nine...Out of Ten.
| This is one of the best Final Fantasy games EVER!! | | A gamer from Fond du Lac, WI, USA says (23/Mar/2004): | I would have to say that this is one of the best games i've played in a long time. The graphics, gameplay, sound, and just the plain fun factor of this game is awesome. If you ask me what final fantasy game is the best, I would have to say this is EXTREMELY close to the top.
| Something quite different to the other Final Fantasy series | | Amir Kolmanic from Athens, Greece says (21/Mar/2004): | Hmm... I myself haven't yet had the chance (or the GameCube) to play Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, but i will write my first impressions.
It seems like a unique game, with a more mobile fight style, no more strategic, but more action-like. When i first saw its preview I thought somebody made some kind of a Hobbit or LOTR game. Sure, it is similar to Kingdom Hearts in a way, but it seems more rural and loveable. The graphics are amazing, as are most GC game graphics. Multiplayer is also present, but i heard you need something like four GBAs to play full multiplayer? Seems expensive. I've seen some of the bosses and fiends and they seem similar to those in FFX, which is a plus, as FF are my favorite games (on PS2 tho'). The action-RPG style seems okay, as its different from the 'slap-slap-fire-ice' style fighting in FFX, but a negative aspect of this is a risk of making a narrow array of combos in the characters' physical attacks, thus making the game boring. The thing that appals me though, is that the game is for GC, which is a real disappointment to those who were loyal to FF on PSone and PS2... Well, that's what I think. I can't give it a proper rating, but since I must, judging by appearance I'd say 9-10. aabeba35712< remove me > at hotmail.com, kolmanic< remove me > at yahoo.com are my mail adresses, if anyone has any pics or info about the game please send it to me. Thank you for reading my review. And remember, gamers, KEEP ON PLAYIN'!!!!!

| turn of the century for final fantasy | | Al from Wisconsin USA says (21/Feb/2004): | Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is a long name for a game that is so good it makes you and your friends on the edge of your seat yelling at each other. Do you want to go for the treasure or just finish the dungeon. Although the one who carries the crystal chalice leads the pack. He will be the leader unless the others would like to die. The one carrying the chalice cannot perform actions until he drops it, leaving the lead to someone else to grab. This game revolves around strategy instead of the killing of relentless hordes of goblins, ghouls, skeletons, worms, flys, bees, and whatever else like in gauntlet. Killing relentlessly is fun I admit, but it gets really boring really fast. This game has illuminating crystal visuals when standing behind a gigantic one. You wanted another kind of offspring to the Final Fantasy series, you got one right where it counts, real-time battling, with a hint of stradegy and teamwork.
| Best Multiplayer game EVER | | Roboness (Pso Name) from Salisbury, England says (24/Dec/2003): | First things First. In-order to play the four player mode you will need Four GBA's and Four GC-GBA Connection wires. Oh and a ton of batteries. But I can tell you, it is well worth it. Basically you and your mates move around a fairly basic FF World. A ton of dungeons and a village here and there. Unlike the previous versions though. You can't actually move in and out the various houses on show. All you do is talk to the people outside. They can range from simple Farmers and Fishermen to the More helpful Black smith and Taylor who can make Weapons, armour and accesories for you. To do this though you need to collect the various bags and scrolls placed within the many dungeons, and you let me tell you there is alot to collect. While you and your mates move around the very well designed dungeons you will be attacked by monsters. The first thing you'll probably find out is that the fighting is in real time. No more waiting for you attack bar to appear, you just run to an enemy and hit A. You can still attack, defend, Use items and cast spells, but it's all in real time. This makes for a better game in my opinion. I bet you're all wondering about the GBA connections right, well I'll tell you (Oh and for those without GBA's, you can use a controller in the one player game). Basically instead of having your menu screen come up on your telly, It comes up on the GBA screen. This is so you cant annoy anyone during play. You just press SELECT and then you turn to your GBA, it's that simple. You can also view a Dungeon map aswell. Really the whole point of the multiplayer game is team work. Inorder for you to do this Square-Enix have made an Object, that can make this possible.
The crystal. Basically One person carries this, and the crystal creates a forcefield. Keep within it and you'll be fine, but go beyond the walls and your health will start falling. This means that the person with the crystal leads the way leaving the others to cure, fight or cast magic. It's very ingenious. You and your mates can also combine the many spells on offer to create better ones. E.G Combine two fires and you get Fire 2, Combine two cures and you get Cure 2. But combine Fire and ice and you get Gravity, which is useful for grounding enemies. It's a very clever system. Now lets talk about the graphics. They are simply amazing. You can not appriciate the game by a couple os screen shots, you actually have to see the game in play. The only real drawback with game I played, is that it was Japanese (I imported it.). But by the standards set by this I'd have to say that this is the greatest 4-player game ever and probably the best Final Fantasy. I can't wait for the English Version.
| Not as good as 7, 8, 9 and 10.... er not 10 | | Gunner from Barford, England says (22/Dec/2003): | This is the first Final Fantasy on a Nintendo console in about 9 years and it's brillient. If you like Final Fantasy because of there story's, then you might not enjoy this. It focuses more on multiplayer gaming than a single player adventure and plays more like Gantlet or Hunter than a previous Final Fantasy.
I imported this game from Japan so I don't know what everything means but I memorize things like the magic and items so the game is still playable. My advice would be to wait until the English release unless your desperate then get the imported version. You'll still love it.
